This week I've been for my induction lesson at Stoneycarne Gundogs. I found them to be very friendly, I felt comfortable & relaxed from the start. I left my first session with them with excellent advise & steps to help me move forward with my training

Turned my rescue sprocker spaniel around on a 1 month residential training. She was a really difficult dog and have done an excellent job in turning her around in the short space of a month. Also appreciate their honesty

This is my second dog that i have had for residential training ( had a working golden retreiver in before) and would consider doing it again

I’ve been buying raw food for my dog from Simon for the past few months, reasonably priced and orders usually available the next day. Simon always happy to help even when it’s a small order and sometimes includes a little extra item to try.

I booked my dog in for a week of residential training as we were going away. We filled in all the forms, spoke to the owners and arranged a drop off time. After just over an hour’s drive I arrived to find that due to a very sad family bereavement the owners were not there. The person in charge had absolutely no knowledge of our arrival or what to do with my dog. I told her I would make another plan as I did not feel confident about leaving my dog there under the circumstances. That evening I sent a text saying that I was sorry for their loss but that I was surprised that no one had bothered to ring/text me. No apology either. No response. A full 5 days later I got a text thanking me for my understanding and saying that they would ring in 2 days time to see if we could find a way forward. Still not heard a full week on. I had expected a much higher standard of professionalism and basic courtesy. I fully appreciated the sad and unexpected situation but the lack of concern and apparent disorganisation seriously undermined our confidence. I gave one star because on our first visit they were good with our dog.

Fantastic group training day. Covid safety measures were in place and the day was well organised. Simon and Kate were helpful and friendly. They are both extremely knowledgable and have taught me how to get the best from my dog. Instructions were clear and individual feedback was given after each exercise. Couldn’t recommend Stoneycairn enough the progress my dog has made with them is unbelievable.

I placed a rather last minute order and emailed Stoneycairn to ask if they could help me out. Help me out they did! My order was delivered 2 days later, despite the Covid crisis. I received first class efficient and personal service. Highly recommended.

Very professionally run training day and given the current Covid situation health and safety were accounted for. Each dog and handler was given individual advice and guidance in a supportive and truthful manner and exercises tailored to the dogs ability to achieve success.
Great training ground and well thought out exercises relating to working in the field.

Simon was extremely helpful, friendly and non-judgemental in our 1:2:1 dog training session. He gave us some very useful tips in getting our 11 month old springer to walk to heal and the importance of our own body language in training dogs.
Simon made the session fun and we left feeling motivated to continue training our lovely springer spaniel and we look forward to arranging our next session.

After one use on walk throwing and retrieving, the product split spilling its contents everywhere.
Not good

I had my first 1-2-1 Gundog training session with Simon. We just started back to basics lead walking and recall on a long lead. Simon is very knowledgeable and was great at demonstrating what we needed to do. Can’t wait for further training sessions!

Not the first time I’ve used stoneycairn and won’t be the last, this time I had my Labrador in for 6 weeks residential training. Not only are Simon and Kate great people, down to earth and bloody honest wether that means telling you your dog is a sod and needs to chang, but they did a outstanding job with him. Only people I trust to leave my dog with. Won’t be long before we’re back for regular lessons and classes to keep up the hard work. Thank you to Simon and Kate will be back soon.
