Rude Workers

I came across this super rude and arrogant worker, and she was arguing with me for no apparent reason!? I didn't do anything wrong, and she was telling me off for asking a question at the desk. Mind you, there was only ONE worker around, and they were at the desk. How are you going to tell me off for asking a question to the ONLY worker available? She wouldn't even tell me her name and just walked away, she had brown hair, up in a ponytail, and she looked at least in her mid-30s. Spotlight is so overpriced and for what!? They say they focus on customer service but guess what? THEY DON'T. They don't even want to help their own customers, and it shows. Don't shop at Spotlight, and I'm sick of spending tons of my money on overpriced items while being treated like I'm not even welcome.

this lovely staff member called Adrian helped me with the party balloons which wrest available at Spotlight Weatherill park, he looked up what stores had them and told me how many they had left,
I must say? that lovely manners and well spoken way Adrian helped me was an asset to the store .
keep up the lovely staff which you have in your store 100% positive

I dropped into Tauranga Spotlight store…

I dropped into Tauranga Spotlight store this week to allow my grand daughter ( 4 years old) to choose some fabric to sew her a nighty.
?Tiana ( a new face to me at Tauranga Spotlight) was so friendly, helpful ( I had forgotten to take the pattern with me) and especially friendly to Lily. Even asked her if she would like to carry her fabric out of the store.
I haven't always found the ladies at the fabric counter to be friendly and keen to help, they often seem overloaded with customers ( not their fault)
and not enjoying their work day.
So well done Tiana, you were a' breath of fresh air' and certainly made Lily's visit to Spotlight a great one!
You are obviously enjoying your job, keep up the great work!

Weak weak weak

In store: Excellent friendly customer service.
Call centre: Absolute shite. Can not transfer stock between stores, and cannot call directly to an individual store. Not available to order online. Staff solution was to use click & collect, then fly from Auckland to Christchurch to pick up the product. Alternatively - continue to visit my local store to see if stock has arrived. Seriously?

A shout out to Jess from the Taylor’s Beach, Port Stephens store who was absolutely brilliant, she looked at me and must have seen the look of a deer in headlights and helped me pick out pillows and mattress protectors and I also got the best deals going at the time so thank u to Jess and Sandy at checkout for a great experience.

I purchased a Brother sewing machine on…

I purchased a Brother sewing machine on Saturday 12th July. I went to Wairau Road Store. I walked straight into a very helpful knowledgeable floor person who walked with purpose and ready to be of assisistence. I was lead to the exact machine. I learnt so much more about the machine due to her extremely informative knowledge . I was going to purchase online, but wanted a human experience where I am able to gain from understanding operation , purchasing etc. It was the best assistance I have had in years. I left happy with purchase.
The women’s name who deserves a pay rise was named Suzy C. Thank you.

I have just sent this to Spotlight asking for an answer.
I went in the last week to buy a couple of Platinum 40 x 50 cm black picture frames. I have bought a number of these on the past because I like their simple thin frame and their reasonable price especially with the discount. The Spotlight catalogue ending 15 July 2025 showed the price with 30% of all frames. I collected two and price checked them and they came up as usual price $79 VIP price $49 i.e 30% off. I know the normal price is usually around the $50 mark and the largest Platinum frame was marked at $65 on the shelf. I asked at the counter why the normal price of the 40 x50 frame was showing at $79 when the largest frame was $65 and why had the price risen so much. A very unsatisfactory ‘I don’t really know and it was probably because it was the most popular size’. From this I gather that all frames that are 40x50 will now be extortionately expensive compared to the other sizes and it will follow on to sheets and towels etc. I will alsoaddthatthis sizeframe was separated from the other Platinum frames online which I think is a pretty tricky thing for you to do. I would like an answer to why the huge price rise which is now also showing in your ‘7 day special’ on these frames and why you think that your customers are stupid enough to fall for this type of thing. I didn’t’t buy the frames and I probably won’t again because of the price. Another customer bites the dust.

Unhappy poor service…

Curtains don’t fit dealing with people who won’t return calls or fix our curtains as measurement is all wrong 2 weeks still no reply very unhappy will not be using them again

Broken web site

Broken web site, unable to take orders from online customers. Asked a bunch of information but was not able to put through my order. Also keeps asking for captcha to "verify" you are a human, so they can sell your info to other businesses. Dont bother with these guys, they are not pros.

Worst Experience with Spotlight – Avoid Their Custom Curtain Service

I ordered custom curtains from Spotlight and had it as a priority order, expecting professionalism and efficiency. What I received was the complete opposite.

Despite being a priority order, it's now been almost 3 months, and the curtains are still not installed. I was told the next available installation date is June 19th—which is laughable considering this was supposed to be expedited. If this is how they treat a priority customer, I can only imagine how bad a standard order must be.

The delays, lack of communication, and sheer disorganization are unacceptable. I’ve had to follow up repeatedly just to get basic updates, and the whole process has been a nightmare. There’s been no accountability, no urgency, and certainly no real customer service.

I strongly urge anyone considering using Spotlight for custom curtains to look elsewhere. At this rate, it's hard to believe they’ll stay in business much longer if this is how they operate.

Do not waste your time or money with Spotlight.

Issues with the website

Issues with the website.
Impossible to use the website, tried on different browsers, different internet providers and different devices and all experiencing the same issue that the grey circle continues to go round and round. I rung twice and emailed and both times they acted like I didn't know what I was talking about and emailed me/told me to clear my cache, refresh page, turn computer off and on.

Of course I had done all that, they just refused to believe that there was an issue. I bet there are others.

Also, our website had exactly the same issue today and our tech guy changed some settings to fix it for their customers.

Their store people are also so so rude. I had two people ignore me last night when I went in to buy something even though it was about to close.

As soon as I walked out the lady yelled All clear and they ladies cheered.

They only survive because they are cheap.

ordered 2 rugs online on 5/3/25. No show.

ordered 2 rugs online on 5/3/25. Made calls and emails to their overseas customer service team.
They never sent products blaming the supplier of goods.
They refunded me for both rugs today despite one of them still being advertised as available.
I had asked repeatedly for the available rug and an alternative to be sent to me. Ignored.

Took over a month to tell me they refunding item because they cant find it - dont refund all of postage!! charged postage for item never posted! only refunded part.
Took my money straight away - online no help at all - phone calls no help at all

Really disappointing customer service

Really disappointing customer service. Ace from head office Melbourne was very unhelpful even though the error was Spotlight's because they did not record my purchase on my VIP (what a joke) account. Refused to offer any way to resolve. Will not shop again.

I would give ZERO stars if I could

I would give ZERO stars if I could, anyone who runs a business, take notice, Spotlight is a Masterclass in how NOT to operate a business that is customer service focused. Middle & Senior Management are the most over paid wannabe professionals. They must be company lifers with no expectation of leveraging their experience to get better jobs. The staff are not trained to care about serving customers and their systems prove it.
