Información del producto

Nitrate has no taste, smell or color, so the only way to know it is in your water is a test. It most often reaches private wells from fertilizer, manure and septic systems, and it is one of the contaminants U.S. drinking water rules set a firm limit for. The Nitrate Removal + SMART Filter Cartridge pairs nitrate-selective resin with SMART filtration media: coconut shell granular activated carbon and Eagle Redox Alloy 6500 and 9500. It is the combined-media replacement for systems that specify nitrate treatment plus SMART filtration. At a glance Two treatments, one cartridge: nitrate-selective resin plus SMART carbon and redox media Selective for nitrate, so sulfate in the water does not crowd it out the way it can with standard anion resin Crystal Quest redox media: ERA 6500 and ERA 9500 add chlorine, iron and hydrogen sulfide reduction Four sizes, 0.5 to 6 GPM, for countertop, under-sink and whole house housings What you are looking at A sealed cartridge shell with polypropylene end caps, polyolefin inner and outer wraps, polyethylene netting and Buna-N gaskets. Inside, small resin beads share the shell with black coconut shell carbon and metallic ERA granules. The size and part number are printed on the label. Each end cap has 1-micron pads behind its openings. How the two halves work Half one: nitrate-selective resin Ion-exchange resin beads carry fixed positive sites with a loosely held ion parked on each one. In nitrate-selective resin that parked ion is chloride. As water passes, nitrate ions take the chloride's place and stay on the bead, and an equal amount of chloride goes into the water. The resin's structure is built to prefer nitrate, so it keeps working when sulfate, which standard anion resins favor, is also present. Once the sites are full, nitrate starts to pass through, which is why testing the treated water tells you when to replace the cartridge. Half two: SMART media Coconut shell GAC adsorbs organic chemicals and the compounds behind tastes and odors, and converts free chlorine to harmless chloride. Eagle Redox Alloy is Crystal Quest's copper-zinc redox media: ERA 6500 targets chlorine and ERA 9500 targets ferrous iron and hydrogen sulfide, both common in well water, and the redox reaction also holds some dissolved heavy metals on the media. Why pair them Water with a nitrate problem usually has other complaints too: a sulfur smell, a trace of iron, or chlorine from a well that is shock-chlorinated or on a blended supply. Pairing the resin with SMART media handles those in the same housing. If your system has room for two housings, a standalone SMART cartridge followed by a Nitrate Removal Filter Cartridge gives each media a full shell of its own. What it reduces Primary target: nitrate. U.S. drinking water rules limit nitrate to 45 mg/L measured as nitrate. Also addressed by the SMART media (capabilities of the media, not separate tested ratings for this cartridge): Chlorine and its taste and odor Ferrous iron and hydrogen sulfide at the low levels a cartridge stage is meant for Some heavy metals and dissolved organic chemicals Not designed to treat: bacteria and viruses, fluoride, arsenic, hardness or total dissolved solids (TDS). Wells with a nitrate problem should also be tested for bacteria, since both can come from the same surface sources. Why Crystal Quest Nitrate treatment from people who make nitrate media. Crystal Quest publishes its own Eaglesorb nitrate resin data sheets and builds whole house nitrate systems as well as cartridges. One housing, two jobs. Nitrate reduction and SMART filtration together, for systems with a single nitrate housing. Plain answers on service. We tell you how to know when it is spent, and we help before you try any regeneration. Over 1,000,000 people served since 1994. Crystal Quest builds under ISO 9001 quality management, has made water filtration in the USA for over 30 years and offers lifetime support by phone, email or chat. Where it fits Systems that specify the nitrate and SMART combination use this one blended cartridge. Not a drop-in for every SMART slot: a standard SMART position or a reverse osmosis pre-filter takes a standard SMART cartridge unless your system calls for this combination. Choose the size printed on your current cartridge or in your order history: 2-7/8" x 9-3/4" (CQE-RC-04050), 2-7/8" x 20" (CQE-RC-04097), 4-5/8" x 9-3/4" (CQE-RC-04098) or 4-5/8" x 20" (CQE-RC-04099). Common questions What is added to nitrate-selective resin? The combination includes coconut shell GAC and Eagle Redox Alloy 6500 and 9500. Can it replace any standard SMART cartridge? No compatibility follows from the SMART name alone. Your system must specify or be confirmed for this nitrate-treatment combination. What affects the replacement schedule? Incoming nitrate levels, water conditions and usage affect media life. Confirm the monitoring and service plan for your cartridge and complete system. Can I follow another nitrate product's reg...
