Lovely, friendly hotel, in a nice location. All the trips out were good, but could have had longer at each place. Our guide David, was brilliant, went above and beyond to make sure we all had a great holiday.
Loved it great host ,coach drivers, hotel was great.A recommendation is that i would have liked grab rails in the shower and higher toilet seat as i am disabled.
It was a delightful holiday and would have earned 5 stars BUT it was marred by being such a huge group. 40 is far too many for such a holiday and the poor Tour Leader David certainly had his work cut out with trying to usher us all on the trains, coaches and walk rounds. But he was amazing, such a professional and a true gentleman and knowledgeable. This is my first holiday with Great Rail Travels and I was really hoping that it wouldnt be my last but unfortunately I cannot enjoy it to the full in such a crowded group
Well organised and lovely hotel and weather.
Exactly as advertised. Very competently led.
The area is beautiful and the activities were interesting. It is a shame that there are no buses passing thr hotel as thr dtation is over1 km away. The rail journey is extremely long and involves many transfers. A better method might be plane to Bordeaux then train to Sarlat. Then coach to Les Eyzies or use Sssrlat as a base

Good journey there and back, good trips out,nice dining out,very good tour guide,and overall very good holiday.
Very enjoyable but did not like the fixed menu at the evening meals. This strikes me as a cheap money saving exercise. If and when I book another trip I will ask if the provided meals are fixed before I commit and if that is the case I will not make a booking. I was not alone in my dislike of the idea.

Wonderful place and great scenery.
Enjoyable. Journey to and from resort very long. Generally the trips were good. It would have been nice to include a trip to Lascaux caves as it was not easy to get to on public transport and we were so close. Very good tour manager

Excellent trip with a great tour manager ( Rick ) - lovely visits and a great group. The only negative would be that the hotel that was used is rather dated but the staff there were really helpful and attentive.
Great trip, interesting area and visit points and a great tour guide
This was a relaxed holiday in a green area of France, where the heat was bearable. The hotel pool and air -conditioning helped. The hotel was friendly and comfortable and the view from my bedroom was breathtaking. The excursions were very interesting and not so long that we could not return to the hotel in time to relax before dinner.. Great rail never fail to provide a tour manager who looks after all the details.
Firstly our Eurostar was cancelled and we therefore had to catch the 7.00am from St Pancras. When we arrived in Paris we were told our next train was cancelled also, we then had to take a different train from a different station, and as I had a torn calf muscle which happened the previous evening, I nearly missed that train also,except our tour guide managed to delay it from leaving without me. At that time I could only hobble with my large suitcase and backpack. I can't remember where we got off the train but it was 5 hours away by coach. When we finally arrived at our hotel we were told that they only served breakfast, so our tour took us to a pre arranged restaurant 5 to 8 minutes away walking, unfortunately I was still hobbling and now in great pain. The rest of the holiday went as planned except we had to change going to the market in Sarlat to Friday rather than Saturday, because somewhere in the planning they forgot to notice that the Tour de France was coming to our district and some of the roads were closed. I must say that the tour manager dealt with all the problems very professionally. Fortunately the return journey had less problems!

We hugely appreciate your patience and understanding while we made alternative arrangements in response to these rail cancellations. However, we do understand that this made for an earlier start, and some extended coach travel.
We are glad to hear that after these disruptions, your tour went smoothly and your Tour Manager was on hand to help with anything that you might have needed while travelling with us.
