Excellent trip... got a good view of the Peak District. Great hotel to stay in Derby and then taken out each day. Have put suggestions to Great Rail how to better utilise the last day as many of us thought it was the weak spot. Really good though with Tour Manager and guides.
The trips were good but the evening meals in the hotel were abysmal. Two I couldn't eat. There were no suitable restaurants where we could eat out within walking distance for my husband.

A very enjoyable holiday to The Peak District with Great Rail Journeys. The trips were extremely well organised and were very enjoyable. The tour guide Terry was very friendly and helpful as was our guide for Buxton. The hotel was in a central position in Derby so it was very convenient to explore the centre in the evenings. I appreciated having a full itinerary for each of the three days and the two steam train journeys were very good. I would be happy to use this company for future holidays and will happily recommend them to friends and family.

Well organised, Buxton guide tour and on coach tour through villages in Peak District is wonderful.
From a wonderful welcome, through stunning scenery with expert tour guides, in a comfortable air conditioned hotel to a fond farewell, we enjoyed it all.
We visited the many areas of the Peak District and all were interesting, enjoyed each trip and our tour guide was excellent at giving extra information about each area. The weather was very hot when out walking but once back in the coach the air conditioning was soothing, as was inside the hotel.
Enjoyable trip and good courier
A very good short break, visiting 2 preserved train lines and also seeing Buxton and Bakewell, famous for Bakewell puddings. Hotel was central for Derby and many pubs nearby.
Disappointing. Rushed through the railway bits. Spent more time on the coach than anything else. Tour guides were excellent though.

Very enjoyable tour very busy but worth it . Very good hotel with very good food. Very good coach drivers . Coaches are a little dated , no phone charging or wifi.
Young staff at hotel very pleasant & the lifts were very efficient. However the bed in our room was just a normal double one. We have been used to king sixes beds in hotels so I didn't sleep well which detracted a bit from the holiday.
It was a fun trip - we enjoyed the excursions. I think that the hotel could have been a lot better, we had to complain about our room as the bed was so short (we did get an upgrade). Although the upgrade was to what I would expect as a minimum. The food was ok but one night the rice pudding was crunchy which was not good

Well organised. Hotel very friendly with helpful staff. Our Tour Leader, John was good. Visits to Bakewell, Chatsworth and Buxton nice. Guided tour in Buxton interesting. Ecclesbourne heritage rail journey was disappointing due to lack of scenery. Coach trip on final day with a guide was really good but more time in Castleton please.
