This is my 3rd year 1040 Abroad has prepared my USA tax return. It was completed and submitted in lightning fast time. Highly recommend!!

i appreciated the first free 15 minute talk, it gave me the confidence to go ahead, but also because a friend had recommended 1040. The rest of what documents to provide and information was clear.

Price: 2/5 - not really competitively priced compared to other firms offering the same service, would definitely recommend shopping around before deciding on this one

Service: 3/5 - while they were able to prepare all the necessary documents from the questionnaires I completed for them, they were rife with typos and strange errors, and it seemed like my documents were being passed around from assistant to assistant without updating each other. Only after a long process of careful proofreading and uploading/downloading revision after revision did I obtain a set of documents that appeared to be in order.

Professionalism & communication: 4/5 - Communication was generally clear and courteous. after the error correction process I was indeed a bit irritated and distrustful with them. Their online invoice system automatically slapped a 10% late fee on my invoice (as it had been sent a month before the document preparation had completed), but they removed it when I brought the issue up. Throughout the process, they answered my questions relatively promptly and were acceptably punctual with the processing.

Overall: 3/5 - as long as I don't go to jail and/or owe the IRS tens of thousands of dollars due to mistakes in the documents, then I'll call this a "satisfactory result." If you do hire them be sure to do your research, shop around, and check your documents carefully, as they appear to be error prone in their document preparation.

My wife and I used 1040Abroad.com to prep our 2019 and 2020 FBARs.

They are fast, customer-oriented, accurate in their prep of all the required forms, and their pricing is better than many competing services.

Although our joint US tax return is a very simple affair for me to personally prepare every year, if it were more complex, I'd certainly forward it to Olivier and his staff, knowing the job would be completed correctly and on time.

Choose your expat tax preparation service wisely; I once had a competing, expat tax service prep all of our 1040 and FBARs.

However, they forgot to include a required schedule for our 1040, necesitating an amended return to be filed several months later.

Even worse, the preparer informed my wife and I that due to personal issues, they would be unable to offer any help at all going forward - meaning that I had to file my own 1040X to fix their error, and at my own expense!

The team was very friendly and the process was straight forward. I would have liked to have had the free 20 minute phone consultation offered on the site, but I think everything was covered through the e-mails. I would suggest to give the clients an estimated time frame of when they could expect the return after the process starts. When I received my return, I noticed a small error on my part and they quickly updated it for me. It was such a relief to put the whole process into the hands of friendly professionals. Thank you!

I've been using 1040 for a few years for my returns while living in the UK. Oliver and team have always done my returns on time and in a professional manner, as well as responding to any special requests in a timely fashion. I can't speak to other accountants to compare, but they have gotten the job done each year, thanks!
