I’ve been following Anthony for several years now. It feels like a lifetime ago that he was still teaching, while also finding his feet in the voice-over world and occasionally stepping into a few “soft spots”, shall we say!
Anthony started at the bottom, perhaps even lower, if that was possible. There was no magic wand, no overnight success, and certainly no express lift to the top. Instead, he climbed that mountain one slow, determined step at a time, learning, adapting and building his experience along the way.
Coaches can only take you so far. You can lead a horse to water, as the saying goes, but you cannot make it drink. Anthony is no different. What he can offer, however, is his education, experience and the benefit of the hard work he has already invested in building his voice-over business and Academy Voices. There is no rocket science to voice-over, no magic bullet and certainly no guaranteed shortcut to success. What matters is learning the craft, putting in the hours and being prepared to do the work yourself.
One of Anthony’s real strengths is his ear and his ability to assess where you are in your voice-over journey. Give him just a few minutes of listening, and he can often identify your direction, recognise where you need to improve and help you find the next fork in the road. With the introduction of audiobooks to the new Academy Voices platform, there is even more reason to take a look, particularly when you consider the revenue percentages some other platforms insist on taking, often with little room for discussion. I've been a narrator with Academy Voices for a while now and I have had a really good experience with them. Any issues/questions I've had have been answered in a timely fashion and I've been able to grow as a voiceover/narrator. In todays age with AI everywhere, the fact that Academy Voices is built and structured off of real people (narrators) 100% of the time (no AI narration) is fantastic. It really gives the listeners a true 'storied' experience and shows how much Academy Voices cares for and values their clients and listeners. If you're an author either aspiring or established.. or a listener who wants to know 100% of their story experience is/was presented by a real person for that 'full genuine experience', I would definitely look at Academy Voices.

Academy Voices in one word? Astonishing! I’ve completed seven projects with them so far… yes the pic shows 6 but there is one not published yet… and the platform and the people just keep growing and impressing me.

I was fortunate to get beta access to the new site and its narrator tools. It brings together an audio checker, a script-prep tool, an audio-proofing tool, and a tool for creating social media clips from finished books. Narrators also get free codes for books produced through Academy Voices, which are useful for reviews and marketing. Add a growing library of finished books and new auditions appearing daily, and you have a serious asset for any narrator who takes their business seriously. There simply isn’t another platform that brings together so many useful tools and actual paid narration work in one place.

Academy Voices also gives authors and rights holders the option to produce books through a per-finished-hour (PFH) rate, royalty share, or royalty share plus. Books can be distributed through Audible, Spotify, and around 40 other audiobook retailers. Readers can also purchase books directly through Academy Voices, which can mean a better royalty split.

As impressive as all of that is, the people are even more impressive. They are fully committed to 100% human narration, and they genuinely care about the success of the authors and narrators they work with.

Marketing is one area I’m still learning and growing in, and I know many authors and narrators feel the same way. Academy Voices has created tools to make promoting our books easier, build visibility, and help us connect with more readers. That kind of practical support can make a real difference as we work toward stronger sales.

Anthony has built a most professional site enabling narrators to audition for royalty-share and Per Finished Hour audiobook projects, and I must say I find it extremely addictive and am on the site most days looking for interesting books. Perhaps because of this addiction (!) I am currently the narrator with the largest number of productions on the site - which I was amazed and delighted to see when this appeared on the homepage!

After struggling with ACX - no replies to a huge number of time-taking auditions, endless spam, audiobooks produced and then deleted by the author with no warning..., Academy Voices is an absolute delight. Real people on the other end, excellent support, all real human voices, and no AI in sight.

What we would all like to see now is more new books and PFH projects, so, authors, skip ACX and bring your books to life with Academy Voices!

I jumped into voiceover 2 1/2 years ago. At the time, I answered an ad for a 5 month online VO program from a school in Albany, NY. Suffice it to say, I was less than overwhelmed by the quality of instruction.
I don't recall how I came upon AVOJ and AVOJ Academy Voices, but I am grateful that I did.
The classes, the comradery, and the online resources have been a lifesaver for me. Technologically, I'm a Troglodyte who has learned enough on the Academy's videos to get myself into audio extremus. Fortunately, I have been able to get help quickly from other members as well as Anthony in fixing the things I have managed to mess up.
Additionally, I am slowly developing acting skills, which have lain dormant since I portrayed "Slump" in the North Street School's Fifth Grade production of "Mulligan's Magic." While my progress has been slow (due entirely to my own ineptitude), I have made progress due to the quality of the resources and instruction at AVOJ and Academy Voices.

GREAT Customer Service. Questions answered quickly. Wide variety of auditions available by well known authors.

Focusing on the human voice and not AI centered!

I really enjoyed having the opportunity to be informed about the Voice Over's tips and tricks in the industry. Aslo, I learned a lot just watching Anthony Pica's Coffee time, Angela Ohlfest and Gabi Nistico's videos. Since I am located in France, I don’t always have the possibility to follow live webinars. As a whole, the community is a great place to be for anyone eager to learn, to grow and to know more about how to build a successful voice over business. I came to realize consistency and commitment are key for success.

I've narrated 3 audiobooks for them and it's been an excellent experience. They're responsive and constantly improving their set up.

So far so good! I appreciate the changes made on the site :)

Academy voices provides amazing opportunities for up-and-coming narrators to get their foot in the door. I’m grateful for all the wonderful opportunities Academy voices has given me as I have started my audiobook narration career.

Academy Voices are friendly and personable. There are a lot of books available to audition for. Currently there are nearly all Royalty Share and little PFH also mostly Public Domain titles (a lot of short stories) but it is early days and I believe that this will changes as things move forward. I have narrated four books with them so far and it has been a positive experience.

Academy voices is a great resource for narrators and authors to get together and realize their full vision of their work.

Speaking as a professional voice artist and narrator, I have been with Academy voices basically since the beginning. The new website update really puts Academy voices into the major leagues in my opinion.

Anthony has always run the organization professionally, and with the addition of the new website, which is polished and extremely utilitarian, I really believe this is the place to be if you're an author or narrator.

It is a night and day experience from ACX. ACX is the "industry standard" website for narrators and authors to find each other… Unfortunately beleaguered by spam, and slow response times.

Based on my experience with academy voices, I believe Anthony has solved these issues and will continue Providing an excellent environment for authors and narrators!

I joined Academy Voices about a year ago.
in the intervening period, I've been cast for 14 of their productions, (12 released, 2 coming soon.)
They've been very supportive of my efforts, and very flexible in our dealings.

So far, the overall layout of the site as a voice actor has been great. I love the opportunity to share my auditions and the communication between RH and performer has been awesome. I do wish there was an area under my profile to share more of my social media and to upload my standard contract for my work. This would be really useful.

I just started out as a narrator and compared to ACX I have found Academy Voices to be much friendlier to start out on. It’s easy to get ahold of someone for help if you need it and the response time is unparalleled. Academy Voices is very focused on providing an amazing experience all around for narrators and authors alike. Which is something I feel is missing over on ACX, where you get inundated with scam requests left and right with no real feedback or help on how to fix the problem. Academy voices vets all of their people so I know I wont have to worry about that there. ACX might be bigger overall but I think that Academy Voices is a more supportive and a safer environment for narrators. That peace of mind alone makes it well worth the small expense to join. And with their rate of growth just since I started a few months ago I see them outshining ACX very soon.
