worst experience ever
I decided to join a volunteer program in Lithuania with AIESEC. At first, I was really excited about this choice — until I realized that something was very wrong. Up until the very last moment, I had no idea about even the basic details of this experience.
When I finally arrived, it was complete chaos. The school where I was supposed to volunteer didn’t even know I was coming, and they just had me doing random entertainment activities with the kids to fill up time.
The people running the program there were completely disorganized. They kept telling me vague things like “don’t worry, it’ll be fine,” but nothing ever was. I was also supposed to have accommodation provided, yet for the first two weeks I had to stay in a hotel that I paid for myself. Later, they moved me to a dorm that was awful — far from the school and in a very remote area.
I wanted to volunteer and do something meaningful from the heart, but it ended up being a disaster. I won’t even go into the rest of the experience because I’d never finish.
Absolutely unacceptable — to say the least.
Chaos in recruitment process and lack of professionalism
I had a very disappointing internship application experience with AIESEC. The process, which was supposed to be fast, dragged on for over a month with no interview ever being scheduled. I was very responsive on my end, submitting my CV and a video presentation promptly, but then I had to wait for nearly two weeks without any updates.
Ultimately, I was offered a position as an English teacher, which was completely unrelated to my initial application for a business development role. To make things worse, I was later asked to complete a complex business task with a 24-hour deadline but was never provided with the necessary company data to do so.
The team then rejected my application for 'lack of responsiveness' on my part, which is completely false and highly unprofessional. This was a clear lack of proper communication and process management. I cannot recommend pursuing internships through this channel.
Volunteering with AIESEC
Volunteering with AIESEC was honestly such a cool experience and definitely one of the highlights of my summer. I went to Italy through AIESEC UK, which was very exciting as I have always wanted to go to Italy. The hosts were super helpful and always made sure I knew what I was doing. I made friends with lots of local students who I am still in contact with. They guided me through everything step by step, which made settling in way easier. If you’re thinking about volunteering abroad, I would definitely recommend them!
AVOID AIESEC I AM WARNING YOU
Honestly the organisation does not even worth to be awarded a star. I strongly advise to avoid forming any relationship or contact with AIESEC as their sole interests is to exploit university student's time, money and effort. The members of AIESEC will lure university students and recent graduates emphasising the attainable employability traits and hard skills through participating in AIESEC but they are all LIES, FEEDING FALSIFIED HOPES. All incurred expenses, including traveling, accommodation and subsistence costs are entirely the student's responsibility with little to gain in return. Head and senior members are very (I cannot stress this enough) poorly mannered, rude, lacks genuine leadership qualities and can really be deceiving resulting in disappointing and disheartening experience. I once again strongly warn university students who are interested in volunteering or has been contacted by AIESEC to AVOID IT AT ALL COST. Especially, if you are contacted by a current or former head of Bristol AIESEC UK, simply ignore the messages. Up until this day, he has truly been one of the most cunning and vile individuals I have met throughout the entirety of my life.

I am writing from the side of mother who have my daughter abroad! Can not but agree with all the comments illustrating the lack of organisation, monproffesionalism , no trustworthy at all! Need a lower to go through legality of the Aisec and some lowsuits will be necessary
Development through AIESEC
AIESEC has really allowed me to develop myself personally and professionally! I would really recommend students to join this organsation
My honest AIESEC experience
As much as the opportunities offered by AIESEC to take part in student led non profit organization, my experience with AIESEC has been pure utterly disappointment and frankly speaking waste of time. While I am sure the learning outcomes can vary by individuals, the promises made through zoom call, text messages and verbal communication were never met. The poor, unprofessional and lack of communication by the AIESEC Bristol local committee president will impacted my decision to turn down AIESEC' opportunity and quickly dissolved my interests. I still believe AIESEC can generate meaningful experiences for university students but do need to be aware it can be poorly organized, managed and communicated and should know that all expenses incurred from travel, catering and accommodation to participate in their excessively promoted conferences such as MAXIS will not be funded. Therefore, at the end of the day really felt like a money grabbing scam targeting university students.
AIESEC Review - please don’t trust this organisation!
My experience with AIESEC was nothing short of a nightmare. I joined this so-called “non-profit organization” hoping for a meaningful and structured internship experience abroad. Instead, I was thrown into a chaotic, poorly managed program that cost me not only money but also my mental well-being.
I paid €300 for the program fee, expecting at least a basic level of organization. However, I quickly realized that AIESEC’s promises were empty. On top of the fee, I had to cover my flight, visa, hotel, and food expenses—none of which were ever mentioned clearly beforehand.
The accommodation they provided was appalling. At first, I was placed in a hostel room with 10 people, no windows, and barely enough space to open my luggage. The bathroom was shared with an entire floor and was in terrible condition—dirty, unsanitary, and completely unacceptable. Later, they moved me into a host family’s house, which only made things worse. The family’s behavior was unpredictable and unsettling, making me feel unsafe and uncomfortable throughout my stay.
As for the internship itself, it was practically nonexistent. I was supposed to gain professional experience, but in three months, I barely worked for a week. There was no clear structure, no real tasks, and no benefit to my career—just wasted time and money.
This experience was so bad that I am still in therapy to recover from the trauma. AIESEC should seriously reconsider its operations before continuing to exploit young people with false promises. They charge money to send participants into completely unregulated and often unsafe conditions, with no real support or accountability.
I strongly urge anyone considering AIESEC to think twice before getting involved. It was the worst experience of my life, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. If AIESEC cannot provide safe, structured, and valuable experiences, they should stop operating altogether.
Amazing organization
A great organization to further develop yourself!

This organisation is exploiting poor and unemployed people and they are absolutely the worst! They wanted to pay in Belgium minimal wage for a job that required university certification and 40h/week! Plus they want you to pay 200 euros for them for process fee which is literally outrageous! Today when most companies when most companies dont even get back to employees, to even pay to send an application is really showing the truth about this place. Please avoid at all costs, keep your money!
Don't trust them
This organization is the worst. I did a paid internship abroad. Accommodation was provided to me; however, AIESEC forgot to pay the rent for the building, so I got kicked out by the owner. I had to find another accommodation and pay for it myself.
The worst part about this organization is that they force participants to write positive reviews. After my internship ended, I had to write a positive review; otherwise, they wouldn’t give me a certificate that I finished the internship. In my review, I mentioned that I got kicked out of my accommodation, but I was told to remove this in order to get my certificate. So don’t trust any positive reviews you see about this organization—they are all false.

They took my money and never delivered the experience. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
I booked an internship with AISEC which never ended up happening. They never offered an alternative but also refused to refund my money. Literally a SCAM. I tried talking to multiple people about this issues but two years have passed and never got a resolution. At this point I’m just assuming they have stolen my money and I should move on. Extremely disappointed
I got ignored for months
I contacted Aiasec Italy before completely my master's degree. I was looking for an opportunity abroad. They contacted me via Whatsapp and asked for personal info plus my job preferences. Nobody has ever offered me a concrete opportunity in months. I had to send multiple texts, waiting for updates but never received an offer. I can speak multiple languages and I have obtained two degrees with high grades. Therefore, my profile surely wasn't the problem.
I was open to do internships too.
I don't think it's very professional to offer support and then disappear for no reason.
Lack of professionalism and respect for the volunteers
One of the laest professional organisation that I know off. Communication problems, before you pay they are always available to you, but once you have problems you can't get in contact with no one and your problems won't be solved

I have had the privilege of being a part of the AIESEC community for the past year, and I must say it has been an incredibly enriching experience. AIESEC is more than just an organization; it's a global movement that empowers young people to become responsible and proactive leaders!

Zeker aan te raden!
Mijn ervaring met AIESEC was erg prettig, vriendelijke mensen met een behulpzame toon. Ik zou het zeker aanraden, ik vind zelf het vrijwilligers project in Tanzania met het Health team erg goed!
