Airfix seem to be trading wholly on nostalgia.
They are still selling what they describe as ‘Classics’.
These models are really awful.
The fit is dreadful and there is also masses of flash.
They really are a complete waste of time and money.
Far better models are available from other manufacturers at comparable (or lower) prices.
Airfix really have got a nerve to sell such old tat.
Read this before thinking of ordering a replacement part...
Requested a part replacement for a malformed one, ONE PART, was asked lots of questions about where and when I bought the model, batch numbers. Supplied all except when and where I bought this, even though I told them that I bought it through Amazon. Guess what, I get another email saying "also asked where and when bought.." Not a happy bunny and if the part doesn't rock up that's me done with Airfix and I'll dump the models I've already bought for the future. Terrible, used to be a really good company..
Same old Airfix
I thought I'd give Airfix the benefit of the doubt (after previous shenanigans) and bought a 1/48th scale Battle of Britain set, with a Hawker Hurricane, a Bowser, a Jeep, and RAF personnel. The bowser was passable but the Hurricane is a joke. Got toward the end of the kit, thinking no major problems so far, only to find that the wings don't fit together properly. How can they sell such poor crap? I was looking forward to buying the forthcoming 1/24th scale mark 9 Spitfire but will have to wait for reviews now. Shame on you Airfix.
If I could give no stars I would
If I could give no stars I would, defective decals so fired off an email on the 31/1/22 explaining the problem. 2 weeks later so I sent a further message, the messages went through as I was given a reference number. Some 2 months have now passed and I have still heard nothing. Will abandon any future desires to purchase anything Airfix again
If I could give a 0 rating I would
If I could give a 0 rating I would. Got given an Airfix kit but found a total of 14 parts missing. Contacted company but have found customer service to be appalling and could not be bothered. Twice promised phonecalls from managers which have not happened. Do not touch this company under any circumstances.
Terrible quality and customer care
Ordered two plastic kits, one for myself one for my father. Both kits new releases. Slow delivery, kits appalling quality, cheaply made rubbish. One kit was replaced, quality worse than the first two !! Have now sent six emails, no response. Not surprised this company has struggled to survive for years. Avoid this god awful company.
Slow delivery
Ordered kit december 6, still not arrived. Shown as dispatched days ago but carrier hermes has not received. Asked for refund to buy elsewhere in time for xmas... nil response. Have learned my lesson tried to buy direct to support the company and wont be doing that again! Disappointing.
Appaling company to deal with
Appaling company to deal with. Slow delivery and when it did finally arrive I received somebody else's order. Have emailed twice requesting the correct products are sent but so far no reply. Terrible customer service and won't be using again
Airfix (Hornby Hobbies) must have the…
Airfix (Hornby Hobbies) must have the most low skilled customer service team in the UK. The LATEST example being they dispatched my Vulcan bomber model (on order for at least a year) to the wrong address. Wrote to them explaining only to receive the reply - "I can see your order has been delivered, let us know if we can be of more help" - yes you can, read emails and if the words are too difficult, ask a grown up to help! After previous appalling customer service I wrote a personal letter to Mr John Stansfield, a Director. Hopefully, after 3 months my letter is nearing the top of his unhappy customers list but I'm not hopeful. Thankfully there are now so many options of companies who give a damn I'll never buy from them again EVER.
Don't expect any support..oh yes its Covid.
Update. After 5 months of trying they finally sent me the bands. Not sure if the review pushed things along but now changed to 3 stars as the issue did get fixed and they also did it for free. So that you very much for getting it sorted in the end. :)
Two of the bands that drive the model engine broke. Although these were over 1 year old I just needed the correct belt as a replacement. Was happy to pay for them but either way I needed their support. Had a load of e-mails saying due to Covid they can support me at this time. I see they have helped other people.
My son loves this engine and without the belts it will not work. Their support is zero and I will not be buying any Airfix product in future. Just make sure you dont need parts from them once you are out of the warranty period!
Superb company
Superb company. My son lost a part of his F-22 Raptor quickbuild during lockdown and I asked for a spare part which was sent in a couple of weeks. I offered to pay for the part but they never charged. In my experience the customer service was brilliant. I went direct to Airfix through their website and not to the parent company Humbrol. All of the Quickbuild models we have are really good quality as well and considering they are like Lego, you get a lot more bang for your buck than with the Danish giant. Highly recommended.
Will give these people 4 stars based on…
Will give these people 4 stars based on my childhood experience,
Only two ratings? In the 1960s/70s this would of been a thousand plus.
What does this statistic tell you...
Rude staff
Made an inquiry regarding spare parts to the customer service dept at the parent company Humbrol. The response to a further query was downright rude! I shall not be troubling myself with this company again !!
