Horrible Experience – Misleading Booking, Zero Support from Air India & FlightHub
This was hands down the worst travel experience of my life. I booked a flight from Toronto to Colombo (Sri Lanka) through FlightHub, with two layovers in India. Despite Sri Lanka being my final destination, Air India denied me boarding at the airport because I didn’t have an Indian visa — something no one ever mentioned during the booking process.
Let me be clear: I was transiting, not entering India, and yet neither FlightHub nor Air India warned me about this visa requirement. This kind of critical information being buried or omitted is misleading, negligent, and downright dangerous for travelers.
To make it worse, the Air India check-in staff were useless, rude, and showed zero interest in helping. Even though they had the power to make adjustments, they did nothing. I called FlightHub, hoping for some support — big mistake. Their response? More fees and more manipulation, trying to squeeze every last dollar out of a stressful situation instead of doing their job and helping a stranded customer.
No empathy. No responsibility. No refund. Just blame games, stonewalling, and price gouging from both sides.
Air India and FlightHub don’t care about passengers — they care about profit, even if it means leaving people stranded and helpless. This was my first and last time dealing with either of them. If you value your time, money, and sanity, stay far away from both.

London to Delhi/ Delhi to Bangkok
After booking my flights then reading the reviews I must say I was pretty apprehensive about flying with Air India. But I can honestly say that I had a lovely flight. Check in was seamless, Staff on the plane was very helpful and friendly. Food and drink served and all in Flights and entertainment was plentyful and worked fine.
I was guilty of Judging Air India based on reviews but after experience flying with them It was a pleasure. 5 stars.
Flight and comfort 5 star
Food 4 star
Entertainment 5 star
Free drink service throughout 5 star.
Dodged a Travel Disaster Thanks to the Amazing Sylva!
Big shoutout to the superhero of customer service, Sylva Mathew!
My flight from ORD to DEL got cancelled due to IND - PAK conflict, and I was looking at a travel timeline totally out of whack. Thinking I was still on the original flight, I'd already locked in my ride to ORD and a comfy hotel. Cue panic! But then, like a travel genie, Sylva appeared after a few tries with customer care. This amazing human not only rebooked my flight but also made sure my connecting flight and hotel weren't left hanging. Seriously, without Sylva, I'd have landed in ORD scratching my head, realizing my India flight was probably sipping chai somewhere over Greenland.
Sylva, you're a lifesaver and a travel wizard! Thanks a million! ✨
Recommended to cancel flight then no Refund
Booked a return flight from LHR-BKK with Air India Via Fly Sharp.
Flight out was very good and had no problems .
Return flight then had a schedule change , when speaking to Fly Sharp & Air India they advised free cancellation because they couldnt guarantee onward travel from Bombay due to tensions between Pakistan & India and closed airspace).
I then canceled flight with Fly Sharp and they said i should get a refund for unused flights .
Then Air India marked me as a no show (apparently my flight hadnt been cancelled by Tom at fly sharp )
I then had to book another flight home at a cost of £1400 , and now they inform me that i wont get a refund as it wasnt agreed . Tom has lied to me from start to finish and now wont return my calls .
Between extra nights hotels , extra two days car parking taxis , spending money , i think i am £2000 out of pocket .
I have all the call logs to prove when i spoke to them but they just dont want to know .
Worst airline experience ever..
Worst airline experience ever... I will never fly with Air India again.
I would rate 0 if i have the option
Flight AI143 from New Delhi to Paris: Unacceptable Conditions and Poor Service
Flight AI143 from New Delhi to Paris on April 22, 2025 was one of the worst travel experiences I have ever had.
There was no air conditioning for the majority of the 9-hour flight, making the cabin extremely hot and uncomfortable.
Additionally, none of the inflight entertainment screens worked throughout the entire journey.
The crew did not offer any real solution or compensation during the flight.
After filing a complaint, Air India offered a completely inadequate compensation, showing little regard for the passengers’ well-being.
As international travelers, we expected minimum safety, comfort, and service standards — which were clearly not met.
Very disappointed by this experience with Air India.
Worst Airline ever! Zero assistance in case of problems!
If I could rate 0 stars, I would.
My experience with Air India was terribile. First of all our flight to Phuket to Delhi was more than 2 hours delayed with no notice (Note: We had brought the issue to the airline assistant at Phuket check-in but we were told that also the 2nd flight had been delayed and that they would have waited for us. A pure lie!) and as result we lost our connection to Milan (that had been sold by the Airline as solution). We have remained several hours at Delhi airport transit area with no food or refreshments and the assistance was equal to 0! Personnel a bit rude.
We have complained to Air India but we were told that no refund or compensation was due since the initial flight was delayed due to Air Authorities reason.
Last but not least aircrafts are old inside, screen for interternaiment was not working, plugs for mobile recharge broken and did not seem to be clean.
Boycott flying Air India - worst Indian mentality airlines
See hundreds of 1-star reviews — this is how they treat their customers, most of whom are Indian citizens.
1. Rubbish aircraft – terrible food, entertainment systems that don’t even work
2. Rubbish customer service – zero empathy, no willingness to help
3. Rubbish CEO – driving Air India straight to the hell. I contacted him asking for help, he didn't bother to respond
This airline might carry the TATA name, but it operates with no ethics. All they care about is taking your money. I lost valuables worth ₹20,000, and for months they didn’t even bother to respond. Eventually, they just said they’re not responsible for checked-in customer baggage.
For a company of this size, it’s absolutely shameful how they treat people — especially those who are sick and have all the necessary supporting documents. If anything goes wrong, don’t expect help.
Never book with Air India again.
As consumers, we should boycott Air India. They don’t care about their customers at all.
There are plenty of better airlines flying to India. Choose one that will actually support you when things go wrong.
Avoid if there even a slight chance you might need a refund
I emailed Air India regarding a refund for a flight due to a medical condition. At first response time was great, they told em what I needed to get and I went ahead and got all my medical history, tests, a note from doctor saying I'm unable to fly due to increase risk of blood clots and a list of prescriptions and how long to take them for formatted as a treatment plan, all signed by a doctor and specialist. I was told these weren't acceptable so I asked them exactly which ones aren't correct, that was about 8 days ago, I have since been ignored, I email everyday, I have written a formal complaint and gone through their website to create another ticket.
For such a big company it's absolutely disgusting they treat people like this, especially if they're sick and have all supporting documents. Avoid the airline and avoid any trouble should anything go wrong.
Avoid this company appalling airline my…
Avoid this company appalling airline my daughter was refused check in on her flight to Delhi as she had no visa even though she was advised by the customer service team to go to check in at Milan desk as visa not required as just in transit for 2 hours as per Government requirements. She is now stranded in Milan having missed all connections and the service team have just advised to make a complaint with no offer of help. Appalling company.
Disappointing Customer Service…
Disappointing Customer Service Experience with Air India
I recently experienced a flight delay with Air India, which impacted my onward plans. When I contacted customer service to explore possible alternatives, I was informed that changes are only considered for delays exceeding six hours. While I understand airline policies, I expected a more professional and courteous discussion.
Unfortunately, the representative abruptly ended the call while I was still explaining my concern, which was both unprofessional and unacceptable. As a customer, I expect a certain level of respect and responsiveness, especially when dealing with unexpected disruptions.
I urge Air India to improve its customer service standards and ensure that support representatives handle inquiries with professionalism and patience. This experience was disappointing, and I hope the airline takes customer feedback seriously to avoid similar issues in the future.
My flight from London Heathrow to…
My flight from London Heathrow to Ahmedabad via Bangulure 19th January 2925 and return flight 25th February 2025. I couldn't believe my screens on both leg were not working nor was the charging point. Plane is old and filthy. It made tge journey long and boring. Never book Air India again. We as a consumer did to boycott Air India as they don't care about customer. Very Very bad service. I have complaint but yet to receive and response.
Extremely disappointed with @airindia…
Extremely disappointed with @airindia after a terrible experience at Heathrow T2 on 18th Dec 2024. My 7-year-old daughter and I missed flight AI162 (London -> Delhi, 8:45 AM, PNR: WTPL2H) and faced rude ,unprofessional staff at the AI ticket desk.( staff Name Sumaila & Anita)
Here’s what happened:
I requested a ticket for the 1.30 pm flight and was charged £2429.70, only to be told later they couldn’t issue the ticket due to “technical difficulties. I requested the refund & instead helping me the lady staff at ticket desk -Sumaila was talking with other staff on irrelevant topics & laughing chitchatting, this is how they work irresponsibly , after 2 hours of standing me and my daughter was tired & helpless . In process of refund she charged my card twice & not even accepting her mistake . Worse, my card was charged *twice* £4859.40 (£2429.70 + £2429.70).Its very big amount . She gave me the piece of paper & said take help from Air India support system.
It’s been almost 2 months with no resolution despite raising complaints, emails, and calls. Instead, the support team has closed the ticket shamelessly without adding any comment.., there is no reply from nodal officer , no reply from appellate authority Air india
This is the pathetic customer service I have ever seen. Refund my money immediately!
This is unacceptable, and such experiences make me question traveling with Air India again. Please train your staff to handle customers empathetically. customers are literally begging for their own money. Shame on you Air india .

Accident and injury on flight
19th November 2024 flight returning to London from Delhi suffered injury to my shin owing to loose arm of video monitor collapsing. On board staff were concerned, but response of air India customer service an utter disgrace, only trying to evade responsibility. Now embarking on legal action for appropriate compensation. Dealt with a very smooth and charming Naveen Sikka but later realised he was rather junior and his sympathy fake.
Amazing - massive changes for the better
I recently had the pleasure of flying with Air India to Vadodrara, and I must say it was a fantastic experience! From the moment I checked in to the time I landed, everything was smooth and comfortable.
Check-in & Boarding:
The check-in process was seamless, with friendly and helpful staff ensuring everything was in order. The boarding process was well-organised, and I appreciated the efficiency of the crew in getting passengers settled quickly in a sequential order.
Comfort & Cleanliness:
The aircraft was clean and well-maintained. The seats were spacious, with ample legroom, making the journey comfortable even on a long-haul flight. The in-flight amenities, including blankets and pillows, were fresh and neatly arranged.
Service & Hospitality:
The cabin crew was exceptionally warm and courteous, always ready to assist with a smile. They frequently checked on passengers and ensured that everyone was comfortable. Their professionalism and hospitality truly stood out. Acholol was servered in a abeundance :-)
Food & Beverages:
One of the highlights of the journey was the lovely food served on board. The meal portions were generous. The drinks were served promptly, and everything tasted fresh.
In-Flight Entertainment:
The selection of movies, music, and TV shows was impressive, with a great mix of international and Indian content. The personal entertainment system worked well, keeping me entertained throughout the flight.
Punctuality & Overall Experience:
The flight took off late and landed late. Had a problem with the connecting flight (as it was missed), but their actions to remedy this was brilliant. Took a different flight to a different destination, but all resolved by the staff. Yes they could have communicated a little better, but the service is progressive and 1000 times better than what it was before.
I would highly recommend Air India to anyone looking for a great flying experience with excellent service, delicious food, and comfortable seating. Looking forward to flying with them again soon!

Worse air India Business class flight experience
Went by business class to get a experience of lifetime as we can’t really afford the same but it turned out to be a total disaster thanks to Air India. Even after check in, without informing me they changed my seat , second they lied the seat I choose had technical difficulties and cannot recline ( so the whole objective of business class sleeping comfort during normal gut flight was lost). Entertainment system was dead. And over that the staff kept telling they have refunded my upgrade money, so they are doing me a favour by allowing me to travel in broken first class seat😁: Indian service standard and mentality. They don’t know the meaning of good customer service. The only good thing was the plane managed to take me to my destination. And I have returned from my trip but the refund money is still not in my account. None of the staff knew what they were talking about when I asked how refund will happen and kept guaranteeing me , it will happen immediately and nothing in writing is needed.
Chaos
I flew with Air India from Paris to Kathmandu via New Delhi on November 29 and returned on January 1. While the initial flight was manageable (and by "okay," I mean far from impressive), the return journey was a nightmare.
**The check-in chaos:**
At Kathmandu airport, the counter was overwhelmed with first-class passengers and their luggage, leaving the crew visibly stressed and unprepared. Despite being at the airport four hours early, they forgot to weigh my luggage, only to call me back later, demanding I open and redistribute excess weight while rushing me unnecessarily.
**The delays and near-missed connection:**
The flight was delayed by an hour, which almost caused me to miss my connection in New Delhi. Barely making it, I thought the worst was over—until I reached Paris.
**Lost and mishandled luggage:**
Upon arrival, I waited an additional two hours to discover my luggage hadn’t made it onto the flight. Two days later, it was delivered to me—damaged. Despite the "Fragile" tag, my suitcase was scratched, one singing bowl was dented (7-alloy metal doesn’t bend easily, showcasing their carelessness), and others were marked with scratches.
**Compensation insult:**
Air India offered a mere $100 for my broken suitcase and damaged items, which included three singing bowls worth 80 euros each. When I detailed my issues, they went radio silent—no response for three days and counting.
**The in-flight experience:**
Their planes are outdated. Many screens were broken, leaving passengers with no entertainment. It felt like being in a scene from *Mad Max*—a chaotic, uncomfortable, and subpar experience.
**Final thoughts:**
Air India’s service is careless, their staff is overwhelmed, and their planes are poorly maintained. Trusting them with your travel or belongings is a mistake. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid this airline at all cost
Appalling service both inflight and after flight
I flew business class from Goa (GOX) to LGW on 13th December in seat 1A. First hint that all was not well was that fellow passengers were being informed before we took off that their seats were broken and were being offered refunds.
We were not offered a complimentary glass of champagne on boarding.
The 'new' crew member did not deliver a safety briefing and just stood next to us with no life jacket or demonstration seat belt and could not even point out the exits.
The pillows provided were damp and the electrical sockets not working.
However, the worst part of my flight was that my seat did not recline flat. It would only slightly move. I informed the crew of the malfunction and also that I could not get the bits that had moved to return to a seat. It took two crew to get it back to a seat shape after a greal deal of pushing and shoving. They assured me that they would report it.
I reported these issues on my return and Air India tell me that have no record of these issues and offered my £37.50 but only after I provided them with photos of the broken seat. I have declined this offer and requested that they escalate the matter. They refused and continue to insist that it was not reported and there were no issues.
This is not a business class experience and I would hope that an 'aspiring' airline would try harder to ensure the comfort and safety of their passengers
