This is probably the worst streaming…

This is probably the worst streaming device i have tested. I have tested so many devices that cost so low and didnt work so i thought this device should be an exception but unfortunately this device is really the same as all other low cost devices. Support does not really helps they keep me saying to try this try that but no answer. I tested everything, i am a computer engineer and i am telling you with no fear that this device is not worth the money stay away! Not even the direct adhoc connection to the 5ghz of the device works! Even the mouse movement is sluggish. Stay away if you want to use this device for streaming movies to your TV.

Airtame works excellent for us

We are a consultant-company with approx. 100 employees, and many meetings and projectwork in our projectrooms. We needed a simple way to connect to our screens and have used Airtame since late summer 2019. The feedback has been excellent from the users - stable, fast and easy to use - works excellent for us.

We use Airtame here at the office

We use Airtame here at the office, and sell them as well to our clients in the hospitality and enterprise segment.

There has been no issues whatsoever, and the client feedback has always be great.

We had several Mk1 Airtame which work pretty well, the Mk2 simply doesn't work as advertised, very disappointed.

What a wonderful promise, with a half baked delivery.

I've noticed these glowing reviews everywhere, and it amazes me how so much people without a technical background raves about a product that doesnt even match what is promised in any of their marketing.

Chromecast, Apple TV, even some chinese knock offs work better (and WAAAY cheaper) than Airtame. And i say this after being an early adopter with the campaign.

The device, in itself, is amazing. The software sucks. But it sucks not because it is bad, it sucks because it is unable to deliver everything that was promised.
IF what was promised is what we got, this would be different. But instead we got a streaming device (call it b2b b2e, doesnt matter) that suffers with lag and echoes, and to get even an acceptable response time, quality suffers. And A LOT.
Even using it in a meeting room with a projector, you are better of with a chromecast, a TV with android screen mirroring, or an apple tv. (Widi also is great, but less common).

Support will always try to blame your wifi quality network. Or the posibility the device you got is a dud. Or any other number of deflections. However, i develop software (and hardware) and have made lab testing of this device. Perfect signal wifi networks (ac in 5ghz and n in 2.4ghz) and even using cable (yeah, you can do it too). The issue is the software.
After this much time, the only usage i gave the device was as a screen saver or to display static images. To stream videos or anything not static is a pain to get a decent quality, and you are better of hacking the device and running it as a stream node. But. WHY WOULD YOU ?? you are paying a premium for a device that should do that by itself.

Anyways. The device is awesome, as a piece of hardware. Way overpriced. And it will give you just part of what you are being promised.
You can do the same and better with cheaper devices and some tinkering.

A bit of a delayed response, but would you happen to still have your Airtame? Would I be correct to assume it's the Airtame 1 model? In case you'd still want to give it a spin and let us know the current app version and firmware version on the device, we'd be happy to take a look.

Managing expectations is, of course, important. If Airtame isn't the device for you we don't want to be pushy. Many customers in business and educational contexts are happy with their Airtames, but satisfaction does depend on what you want the device to do. Expected latency when streaming, say, a slideshow can be around 0,4-0,8 seconds. When streaming video, the buffer goes up to 1 second to ensure that the Airtame has time to sync up.

In terms of the price difference when compared to products such as Chromecast, the main factors that justify this include:
- The ability to integrate into Airtame into a professional network setup (e.g. so that both guests and internal users can safely have access)
- Airtame Cloud for device management
- Customer support

If nothing else, thanks for your effort and time in testing the product out.

Airtame failed technically and with customer service

We successfully use Microsoft Window Display Adapters for multiple displays in our office but needed wireless connection for our Mac users. Airtame looked promising on paper but after buying one to try we experienced a lag in the display. We tried all that Airtame support recommended but couldn't overcome the lag issue. By the time we tried these fixes at one of our busiest times of year and then wanted to return it, Airtame advised that our return period had expired! With Airtame 2 coming out we were happy to get a credit and try the new version when it came out - but the answer was still no. So with a bit of proactive customer service Airtame could have had a number of additional purchases from us if Airtame 2 worked OK. The response was disappointing as I was happy to be patient and support a new innovative company. We have now purchased Apple TVs and run these alongside the MS Wireless Display Adapters. Not ideal as we now have two devices but at least they work.

If you'd want to reach out to us directly on our live chat and provide the email address connected to the original case, I would personally look into it to see if the 30 day return period was not properly honored. Just ask for Angela.

The expected latency range with both Airtame 1 and Airtame 2 is approximately 0,4-0,8 seconds. If the latency was within that spectrum, then it's unlikely that optimizing efforts would change that much. If it was higher though, we'd do everything we can to help solve it. So if you'd want to dust off the Airtame 1 model and test it out again, please don't hesitate to reach back out. Thanks again for your time on this.

Airtame is not a bad device

Airtame is not a bad device! I feel like there are things that could be better about it. First and most important to me is having MORE options for the length of each slide when I am using the app through google slides on Airtame.(new feature and it is awesome other than slide length choices) Secondly I was under the MB requirements for google slides on Airtame and it still would not present on my tv monitors. It would play two slides and then go back to the beginning. I had to remove 10 of my slides just to get it to stream. I checked my MB usage and it wasn't even close to the max amount Airtame says it can handle. Airtame is great other than this!

Amazing device

Amazing device. It works amazingly once I got it properly set up on my network. The ease of use for my employees has been night and day from our previous solution.

Overpriced - Good service - Big delays/buffering problems.

Pros:
Nice user interface, The wireless feature is great to simplify access to visitors and internal guys. Simple to use. The service representatives cannot be better.

Cons:
300€ for one unit is far away from the reality, why? This product needs a lot of development yet. Not ready for enterprise environment or business presentation in terms of video quality and precision.

1. The drag and delay are just not acceptable. Even moving the mouse takes few seconds. The video is pixelated even if you set the device to the higher streaming quality and resolution.
2. For example, you have 2 interfaces, 1 to connect the power and another to the Ethernet. They are exactly the same and you cannot know by any means where you are connecting what. I would recommend adding a color to differentiate one from the other.
3.The service guys will blame your network or will say what all wireless presentation system are doing the same. Really???

Finally:
the product has potential but it needs to improve the delays and drags. Great wireless feature but very poor range. Service is polite but they try to justify anything or blame your network.

- First, some very good news: We have just released Airtame 3.0 which is an update of the firmware on the device and software on your computer. The update should help improve your overall streaming experience, among other new improvements and features. Go check it out here: https://blog.airtame.com/airtame-3-0/

- For the two Micro-USB inputs: The input on the right site it for the Ethernet adapter and will be blocked by a small plastic cover when receiving the device to avoid confusion. A tip to help now that both ports are open: When looking at the device, the "E" in AIRTAME indicates that that the port is for Ethernet :)

- A last, I will just mention that a good streaming quality is super depended on a good network connection. We've included a lot of tips to help here: https://help.airtame.com/install-and-setup/testing/test-and-improve-your-wifi-network

Fungere ikke tilfredsstillende

På mit arbejde har vi fået installeret airtame i alle undervisningslokaler. Følgende problemer opstår dagligt:
Airtame skal stort set altid have en IP adresse for at virke. Mindre problem.
Skærmopdateringshastighed er for langsom. Selv ved en power point er der et så stort lag at det er forstyrrende.
Det er umuligt at afspille video. Den overføre videosignalet men antallet af mistede billeder er for stort.
Jeg prøver altid at gå udenom airtame enheden og sætte et kabel på.
Ideen er god men udførelsen virker ikke for mig.

Simple in use

Hands down, the best solution for conference rooms

We've had 3 airtames in our conference rooms for a while now, and we couldn't be happier. We do all kinds of presentations, (Google docs, Powerpoint, Keynote etc.) and have guests presenting as well. There is a little lag, but everything (including sound) is in sync, and works beautifully, even for external presenters. Installation and finding the airtames on the network has worked without a hitch.

Highly recommended.

Simply Connected!!

One word for Airtame: Awesome!!

Honestly speaking I was skeptical about it when I saw it first on Indiegogo. Being an I.T Executive I have tried a lot of presentation devices for our meetings and group discussions. I found Airtame to be the perfect companion which indeed not only solved my problem but raised the meeting room standards sky high. I have purchased 3 Airtame's so far and few more coming up for family gifts.

I am eagerly waiting for them to provide more dashboarding solutions. Wish you all the best Team Airtame & thank you for the amazing device!!

Awesome little device

Great product, even better company

When I first funded Airtame on Indiegogo I was a bit skeptical because it was the first project I had funded and I wasn't sure how it would work. But based off the video and updated the team gave I had a good feeling about it. When the device arrived I was very impressed with the build quality and software that is always being improved. But for me the best part was their after sales support. Of the two devices I bought one stopped working. When one of the Airtame team members contacted me to see how thing were going with the device, I informed him that one stopped working. He imminently put me in touch with one of the technical people and we when though a few options to get it to work. When we saw that it wasn't going to work, they without hesitation organised a replacement device. I honestly haven never had such good customer service before. So I highly recommend Airtame, and wish them all the best
