Sensitive and exemplary care
I would like to offer a huge thank you to all involved in the care of our father at Silvermere during the last few months of his life.
He was a fiercely independant individual and despite his own acknowledgement of his failing capabilities and the acceptance that he could not live on his own any longer, it was with great reluctance that he agreed to a short reconnaisance stay in Silvermere.
However, within a few days he had comfortably settled in and was really enjoying his new environment, which he, very quickly and obviously, had begun to regard as ‘home’ and was extremely happy to take up permanent residence.
The family and his Bridge playing friends appreciated the hospitality and friendly atmosphere and all acknowledged that Silvermere was a very pleasant place to both live, visit and spend time with Pop. He was a social man and Silvermere restored some of the friendship and companionship he had lost in recent years as he had become more and more isolated. He became more like his old self.
This along with the views across the lake, the wildlife, including his beloved rabbits that he watched from his door, made Silvermere more akin to a holiday home than residential care.
It is a great shame that Pop could not have enjoyed a longer stay but it is also a great comfort to us and the rest of his family that he ended his days at Silvermere. The sensitive care, friendship and dignity afforded to him by all the staff and other residents was exemplary and very much appreciated, not least by the man himself. He thanked us every time we visited him for making the choice of Silvermere for his care home.
Please do keep up the very excellent work.
