Most unethical company I have ever…
Most unethical company I have ever dealt with. After paying $900 for lifetime service the trainer came once for a 1.5hr session with our 14 week puppy. He said he needed to go to New Zealand for a couple of weeks and would be in touch as soon as he returned to set up our next session. 6 weeks later no responses to emails. I finally get a response from Todd at head office but all he keeps reiterating is there is no money back guarantee. He doesn’t seem to understand my point that I have paid for a service and after one session I am unable to access. As if you can train a 14 week old pup in 1.5hrs! I will be taking them to the tribunal to try and get a refund and I am more than confident the decision will be in my favour.

I purchase a $2195 package with bark busters and after one solo session and one session where my daughters were present the "trainer" Kristyn Hayes refused to work with my daughters and I. As we all live together it was very important to me for us to all be on the same page and train our dog without fear. When we brought our concerns to her she became agitated and left the house abrublty. After she left she sent text messages insulting my daughters and said she would not work with us, only me. I am extremely unsatisfied with her professionalism and feel she took advantage of me financially. Bark Busters has let me down. After spending so much money, I expected more.
Horrible! Abusive practices!
First of all let us start by saying this company provides fear based training. Horrible practices! Throwing bags filled with chains at your dog for misbehaving! My puppy has been cowering in corner since her training! This company should not exist and I will do all in my power to bring it down!
I have to say I do very much dislike…
I have to say I do very much dislike writing negative reviews. However, this experience has encouraged me to do so to make others aware in case they find themselves in a similar situation.
While I am sure this is a great program, it has very limited experience with more severe behavioral issues, such as aggression between dogs. I only wish they had been more honest and upfront about that.
The primary reason I chose Bark Busters was due to in-home training which was a big part of their pitch and referenced throughout their website. That was critical given my situation.
I quickly found out after the first visit, that virtual sessions were a strong preference and that I should be video-taping my sessions vs. having consistent in-home training. It felt awkward to insist - and scheduling was difficult given my needs to train several times a week at the beginning.
I did need to address several surgeries with my puppy for a few weeks, yet no one followed up. No one offered any additional help. Sure, it’s on me if you want to be technical, but I found little empathy or any sense of accountability once the check was cashed.
Every specialist I contacted to check on the methodology after seeing no results over a month told me that a spray bottle and bean bags filled with metal pieces, are not going to do anything to curb aggressive behavior stemming from anxiety in a deaf dog.
My dogs are my kids and I had the responsibility to seek out all options and professional advice.
The last message I received was an automated one on April 30 with no follow up. In May, I decided to go to a specialist to help me with my situation. I had no choice. I wasn’t going to gamble.
I reached out to Scot via text on June 10th asking if he might consider a 50% refund given the unfortunate mis-match and having paid for three dogs - only to be met with silence. No response.
I followed up again on July 17 and was met with a curt “You quit and used another trainer and training method. How can I provide terrible service or any service for that matter to someone that is not using my services.” Terrible customer service is not responding at all to a client who paid for service whether they use it or not. His professional training services are for others to judge for themselves.
session with Kirsty
We had our initial session with Kirsty. Her knowledge on dog behaviour was second to none. Her training methods easy to follow and specific to our issues of jumping up and pulling on the lead. Our dog is now far better behaved and we cannot wait for a 2nd session to address other issues that were not pressing at first.
First Doggy session, what an eye opener.
Emma came for our first training session. The knowledge she has got about dogs is exceptional, the whole experience from her advice given to putting it into practice exceeded my expectations, her explanations as to why my Rosie behaves like she does made total sense. Emma gave great advice not just with the reason she was here for but in all areas. She opened my eyes and made me realise that other issues are connected with the main issue. At the end of the session there were obvious improvements. Thank you Emma, I can now see a light at the end of the tunnel. Look forward to the next one x

Totally disgusting response
Totally disgusting response. I asked for help with two Huskies who tended to dart while on leash. Their advice was to get a different breed of dog and to tell me that Huskies are not able to be trained. I went to a different trainer for less than a third of the cost and I now have two well trained huskies. This business is totally unprofessional and incompetant.

Gina was very knowledgable and friendly, and gave real insight to why we may be experiencing the issues we are and helpful tips to try to resolve them. We are around 4 weeks on and seeing some improvements, however it is going to take time and effort on our part to keep the training consistent. We know it is not an overnight fix!
Our investment in training our puppies
Very knowledgeable trainer. Handled us and our 2 dogs well.
However, we found 3 hours, too long. We would retain more learning if we had been offered 2 x 1.5 hour sessions. Knowing that you can only retain 10% of what you have heard after 24 hours much has been lost. Our 2 young dogs also found 3 hours with no loo breaks too long. Having said the above. It was a well delivered session.
