Broken Promises
My motorbike (Suzuki GSX-250R) front brakes ceased up so I took it to Bike Sanctuary for repair at the end of December. Spoke to Ben who advised me that he couldn’t work on it till end of January as they were busy but would get me a quote by Friday of that week. I told him I also needed a new MOT which he said was fine and they would make sure all the work needed was done then get the MOT. I agreed and waited, not hearing anything until I chased on the 17th Jan to be told they hadn’t even looked at the bike. They then quoted me for replacement of the brake disc, brake pads, chain and sprocket which I agreed and paid straight away on the 20th Jan. Received an email 23rd Jan to say they have looked at the bike and its callipers were also needing replacing. I said I was not happy that they had not actually taken the area apart to see what was actually wrong with it back at the end of Dec as promised and the delay in waiting for the part could have been reduced significantly had this been done. The response I got was “The calliper can be ordered today but you’re welcome to take the bike elsewhere if you can get it done faster and I’ll refund the money” which would have meant its sat in his garage for a month and no work would have been done. This response was simply due to me saying I was unhappy the promises were not met. I agreed to get the part ordered. I chased again on the 9th Feb to be told they are still waiting parts. I then chased again on the 23rd February and was told the work had been done but it failed the MOT!!! When it was agreed he would make sure the bike is all good for an MOT, I was then told he doesn’t do the MOT but sends it to someone else. I needed some work done to fix the indicator switch as it was lose and also new tyre was needed (these are both things that are so easy to look at prior to an MOT if you just took the time to check the workings of the bike), considering they had both wheels off to fix the bike you would think they could have a look at the tyre as they knew it was going for an MOT. They then charged me twice for the MOT as it had to go again, this could have been avoided if they did what they promised to make sure it was ready for MOT. I again paid for the work to be done as soon as they told me the work needed doing. I still haven’t been given an MOT certificate to this day having requested it multiple times, the most recent advice was to get it myself after they responded that they didn’t do MOTs thinking I was requesting a new one, (they completely forgot I got this MOT’d in the first place through them) the Bike was ready for collection 27th Feb which I collected it and within 2 short rides and 3 days the bike failed and had a red hot exhaust. I messaged Ben who said he didn’t know what it could be but would get it picked up. Ben said he would not charge me for collection as a good will gesture which was then not collected until 22nd March. The bike needed a new coil pack which they ordered from Japan on the 25th March. So I waited again. Heard nothing chased 5th April part still not in. Then chased 11th April still no part, again 14th April no part. I then find out that no alternative options were given to me as The Bike Sanctuary warranty their parts and therefore will only use Suzuki parts. I then ordered the part myself from the USA which arrived in 2 working days. Dropped it off to them to fit -2 days later it was installed. I picked up the bike which was covered in cob webs and not even had a wipe down and they advised they changed the wheel bearing as it was damaged which as they have had the wheels off more than once I thought would have been noted and told me earlier than this and also to be told the Japan part turned up on the day I collected the bike. I paid to then notice when I got home they charged me for the collection. I queried this and was told that they didn’t charge me for the labour of the bearing and therefore they wouldn’t refund me the £30 collection fee. 4 month with no bike and huge cost in cabs, 2 MOT fees etc wasting my time and money.
