I wish they had zero stars. I contracted in 2022 to publish my two books. There are reviews of both books, and I was even identified in an elevator by my picture on the back cover. I know they are being sold. Recently, several friends ordered the books from Amazon and loved them.
I know they are being sold through Amazon, and Amazon is handling the fulfillment of the orders.
However, in the last 3 years, I have received a total of $0.00 from BBL.
I contacted them just today to get an accounting of my books. Before they would talk to me about my books, they insisted I give them access to my computer to verify my identity. I declined and asked to speak with a supervisor. When the supervisor called me back, he insisted that I grant them access to my computer. When I refused and informed them I would have my lawyer handle this through the courts, his final words to me were, "Forget about your money."
They are a scam and a rip-off. If you hear "Brilliant Books Literary" on a call. Do yourself a favor and hang up immediately.

When I wrote my first review regarding my novel Rise Above Hate May God Save the King, everything requested and agreed to with Brilliant Books Literary looked good. Things have taken a drastic turn for the worse, Oscar Daniels has disappeared I cannot get into contact with anyone from Brilliant Books Literary, Leap Write. With no revenue reports I have no idea who is profiting from my book. Also I have been informed that this company is an overseas scam. Dear Mr. Jordan,

In 2012, I originally published my book Resurrecting America’s Entrepreneurial Spirit through AuthorHouse. I met my goals with this book and moved on.

In June 2023, Allen Wilson from Brilliant Books contacted me regarding republishing my book. I declined his offer, as I was not interested in pursuing this project further.

On November 14, 2023, Allen Wilson sent me an email with an attachment on HarperCollins letterhead, signed by Andrew Williams, Chief Acquisition Director, stating that my book was shortlisted for acquisition. This was the first of a series of communications purporting to show interest in my book, which I have now discovered to be fraudulent. It was not until September 2024 that I became fully aware of the deception.

Over the course of these ten months, both Allen Wilson and Andy Smith stopped responding to my inquiries, and calls to the Leap Write Literary main phone number were not returned. During this period, Allen Wilson left Brilliant Books and moved to Leap Write Literary.

I received a supposed offer from HarperCollins for around $500,000, with a potential increase to $750,000 for book and documentary film rights, pending certain changes. This purported offer served as the justification for me to continue investing in this project with Leap Write Literary, resulting in my expenditure of $6,195.

Upon reaching out to HarperCollins’ legal fraud department in September 2024, I was informed that the offer was not legitimate and that I may have been the victim of a scam. The revelation that I had been deceived for months was devastating, both emotionally and financially.

Following this discovery, my attorney provided the following recommendations:
1. File a police report in Thomasville, NC.
2. File a report with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department.
3. File a complaint with the State of North Carolina.
4. File a criminal report with the FBI for cyber crimes.
5. File a complaint with the BBB.
6. File a complaint with the FTC.
7. Post reviews on TrustPilot.
8. File a police report in Texas.
9. File a police report in California.
10. Publish a complaint on Victoria Strauss’ “Writer Beware” website.
11. Inform the public on social media about Leap Write Literary’s practices.
12. Partner with HarperCollins’ legal department for further action.
13. Write an accurate Google review of the business practices.
14. Seek all available legal recourse.

To date, I have completed actions 5, 6, 7, and 10. Additionally, I commented on your post on Medium.com three days ago. You responded, expressing your willingness to address this injustice. While my attorney advised me not to trust Leap Write Literary, given their involvement in this fraudulent scheme, I am reaching out to you in good faith, seeking an amicable resolution.

I was promised a book deal under false pretenses. I invested my time, money, and trust into this project, which has caused significant personal and professional harm. I am now seeking restitution for these damages.

To resolve this matter, I am requesting a payment of $50,000 by October 15, 2024. Please send a certified check via certified mail to the following address:

Roger Cook was a class act scammer! Got me in touch with a bogus person supposedly Joshua Kornblit of Focus Feature Films, had me invest $8k on the trumped up claim that my book was film ready -- only needed the Hollywood Treatment with Writers' Guild credentialing for Focus Feature Films to get busy producing my book. All BS. Roger Cook and his cohort (whomever that was) are definite scammers. Supposedly Roger has now inflitrated Leapwrite -- some other offbeat nonsense. I never heard from him again, after the horrible HT was redone a couple of times. He and Kornblit vanished into thin air after I'd spent $8 grand. Don't be fooled by Roger Cook!

Brilliant books literary is a scam company they have ripped many of us authors off for various sums of money. I only got taken for $4500, but hundreds more writers got taken for more. I would not go with them ever. They lie, they cheat, and are not a real company but work hard to find writers on the web so they can call and make promises, etc. Turn around and run the other way.

I went with Brilliant Books as the agent Jude Hudson who had my book with another company recieved a position with B B when at the Frankford book fair. He assured me it was 'a traditional' publisher under the umbrella of Harper Collins. I have since discover that is not the case.
They're overpriced website was quite decent and they did a very good job with the back cover. however I paid two thousand dollars for four reviews and never saw one. I paid another two thousand dollars for an 'author of the month' and have never recieved any info as to the out come of that project.

I recieved what appeared to be a personal cheque in a small blue air mail envelop for four hundred and sixty dollars, no invoice with number of books sold or where. I was told I had many more sales between January and May but they have not sent any royalties.
I paid another two thousand dollars to publish my follow-up book but at this point I wish only to delist from they're List and accept my losses. Jude Hudson was good to work with and to my chagrin I willingly followed him down his 'yellow brick road'.

This is a scam company, at first very responsive. I paid them $2000, they said that they would have Harper Collins review the query letter, then changed it to MacMillian. In January 2024, after they failed to respond, I reported them to my bank as a fraud/scam service. On March 14, 2024, the "agent" Ms. Lopez called me and called me trash, and an a**hole for reporting them. I did get a refund through my bank. Don't trust them, and don't give them money.

In 2021/2022, Brilliant Books Literary was aka Great Writers Media. They published my two books, but did not complete several other contracted services, and they have never paid me any royalties. They stopped communicating altogether - and now I know why! I believe that nearly all of their employees and contractors are located in the Philippines.

Brilliant Books Literary assigned a very persuasive Literary Agent as my contact and guide in publishing my book. She was ver personable and gained my confidence. Ended up costing me $14,000.00. The book was published, bu they have become unreachable. Their phone is busy always and They really scammed me. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Autrhors BEWARE

Isaac Williams was my agent. He wanted money for different projects. I asked several times for updates on books sold and if there were any royalties for the last quarter. No response other than his team was working on it. Not heard anything by Jan. 27, 2024. He had excuses for illness, business problems, etc., but could not find time to address my concerns. He promised some things were to be done last summer, and it is now a new year, and still no action. I will not use this company again.

"Amanda" at first was responsive to my questions, but then over time she became more abrasive. For example, knowing that my book was self-published, she asked if I ever sent inquiry letters to traditional publishers. When I said "yes, I have," her response was "And what was the outcome?" Obviously if I had received a positive outcome, I wouldn't have self-published! After I said that I didn't think I would be engaging her services, she hung up on me and then proceeded to text me rude comments until I blocked her number.

Don't trust this scam from the Philippines.

Scam. Harrassed me until I paid a deposit. Assured me they could produce book from audiofiles only. They took the money then wanted more money denying they ever said they could produce it. Refusing to refund. SCAM COMPANY

One of the biggest scams going and it continues to drag authors into a world of lies. Do not give this company money or believe you are being approached by producers. If they urgently need you to give money, don't believe it. They will call you and pretend to be producers, be careful. Athena Blair will double talk you and insult you and threaten you if you figure her out.

(1.) Your rater named Arlen claimed she wrote "Arkansas History".
(2.) No such title except for text books, documentaries. (3.) No such author as "Arlen" connected to a book with "Arkansas" in the title.
(4.) Name one real author who would NOT include their last name with any mention of their book?

Company sent email and said "congrats, we want to turn your book into a movie!" but they gave a name of a title that isn't even a book! Too funny, definitely a scam!

I received an email out of the blue from this company. The initial phone call started out well, but I was talked over, misquoted, and rushed off the phone. When I questioned the integrity of the company by asking about the negative reviews from past clients, Athena Blair became very unprofessional very quickly. After it was established that I would not work with the company. Athena sent numerous unprofessional text messages and emails to me, and I quote "No wonder your book is buried on Amazon. Dont worry I will report you! And use my connection, for your book to be automatically rejected! Your book has recommended by our partnered Online Book Store Barnes&Noble. I will tell them how judmental you are! Good luck! "

Scam! Has no knowledge of your book and simply copy's and pastes from already written information when challenged.

Lyla is awesome. She was able to get me an appointment with an actual producer via Zoom. I was able to pitch my work.
Though I was given comments about my book. But I won't stop there. It just motivates me even more to promote my book.
