Brunel Tutors below par

I am not a student per se but have my daughter in Law who knows categorically she has been let down by their choice of Tutors who manage to convince students that their guidance experience is absolutely neccessary even in the face proven mistakesThe Tutor (Portsmouth Uni)had not the competence to supply correct info indeed she perversely supplied incorrect info thus leading to a reduced grade. Upshot nowt one can do so minimum disappointed...this is my review and not prompted by anyone just my being upset for the young Lady.

Yet another meh university hyping…

Yet another meh university hyping itself up like it’s a big deal in the UK, but all they ever talk about is their ancient history—probably because they’ve got nothing current to show off. It’s all smoke and mirrors: flashy presentations, over-the-top marketing, and zero real substance underneath. They’re also super nosy, always poking into people’s business like it’s no big deal. I finally got a peek behind the curtain, and wow… it’s just layers and layers of fake polish before you hit anything remotely real. Honestly? Totally overrated.

Terrible

I was originally advised by Joyce Williams to apply for the MSc Nursing programme instead of the BSc due to my prior experience. From the very beginning, I explained to her that the company I had worked for had closed down, so I was unable to get the RPL form signed. Joyce reassured me that this would not be an issue as long as I could provide payslips.

I submitted payslips, old HR emails, and HMRC letters as evidence of employment, all of which she confirmed would be acceptable. Despite this, she repeatedly delayed and changed her position. In the end, she told me that the BSc Nursing offer still stood if I wanted it, which I agreed to. She confirmed in writing that she would send me the BSc offer, but no offer was ever sent.

This experience left me feeling misled and frustrated. I was given inconsistent guidance, despite being transparent about my situation from the start, and I was ultimately left without an offer for either course—even after receiving written confirmation.

Disappointed by the Interview Process

Disappointed by the Interview Process
I recently attended an interview at this university and, unfortunately, had a very disappointing experience. Despite having 8+ years of experience in the care sector and currently working as a branch manager, I was surprised to find that one of the interviewers was a carer with only 3 years of experience. I found it inappropriate that someone with limited experience was assessing candidates’ knowledge for a university-level program—this raised serious concerns about the standards of the process.
Worse, I experienced unprofessional behaviour during the interview. While adjusting a screen filter to show my ID clearly, one of the interviewers made a rude comment about needing to “learn technology to learn clinical skills,” which both interviewers laughed at. This felt dismissive, unnecessary, and made me uncomfortable and so upset. I also couldn't shake the feeling that I was being treated differently, possibly due to wearing a hijab.
On a positive note, the staff member who gave an introduction to the course before the interview name Joyce, was very professional and informative—she stood out in a good way.
Overall, the interview process felt disorganised and lacking in professionalism. Thankfully, I received offers from other universities where the process was respectful and thorough. I hope this university reconsiders how it conducts interviews in the future to ensure fairness and professionalism for all applicants.

If there was an option to lower my…

If there was an option to lower my rating, I would do so!

My undergraduate experience at Brunel was wonderful, and the lecturers were supportive and encouraging. In academia, however, elitism becomes increasingly prevalent as you ascend the ladder.

The emotional damage and distress I experienced during my Doctorate programme forced me to file a complaint and take an absence due to discrimination. Three months later, and I'm still waiting for a response from the complaints department.

This is a wonderful university if you do not need to support yourself financially or have dependents to study. I am afraid this would not be the place for you if you do not come from money. Again, the Education undergraduate department are second to none! The postgraduate and doctoral departments however are appalling.

Challenging Experience at Brunel University: A Student's Perspective

I have been a student at Brunel University since 2019, pursuing a BSc Hons in Computer Science. This year was supposed to be my last year, and I have been eagerly waiting for my final year results. However, I have not received my results yet. Over the past three months, I have been sending emails to the university inquiring about my results and visiting campus and different departments in the university, but unfortunately, I have not received any response from them. This lack of communication has left me uncertain about when I can expect to receive my transcript.

This situation is causing me a great deal of stress and anxiety, as it has a significant impact on my future. My father has invested his savings in my education, and I have dedicated four years of hard work to complete my degree. Now, my potential future employer is requesting my transcript, and my visa is nearing its expiration date. Without my transcript, I am unable to apply for the Post-Study Work Visa, which is crucial for my career prospects.

The uncertainty and frustration resulting from this situation have taken a toll on my mental health. I am currently taking medication and undergoing therapy to cope with the emotional strain. It's challenging for me to envision a positive future without my degree in hand, and I feel trapped by this situation.

I am disheartened by the lack of understanding and support from Brunel University, no one care about the student future and life. It is my hope that the university can recognize the urgency of my situation and provide the necessary assistance to expedite the release of my transcript. This would not only alleviate my immediate concerns but also help me regain my mental well-being, which has been severely impacted by this prolonged uncertainty.
