Predatory $220 fee for a 1-letter typo! Holding my ticket hostage.

Extremely disappointed with BudgetAir. I booked a group round-trip ticket on SriLankan Airlines for September 29, and there is a minor one-letter typo on my first name ("Aaishaa" instead of "Aaisha"). It is a simple trailing vowel mistake.When I called customer service to fix this minor slip, BudgetAir demanded a shocking $220 processing fee! SriLankan Airlines allows minor typos for a minimal fee, but BudgetAir is applying a massive, predatory agency markup.I am traveling in a group and this is causing unnecessary stress. I am completely willing to pay a reasonable, standard amendment fee, but $220 for adding an extra letter "A" is pure price gouging.I need an escalations manager to contact me immediately to resolve this for a fair fee so my group can travel in peace.

We booked our round-trip tickets through BudgetAir in December 2025 so we could secure a good fare well in advance for our family trip (Booking # BUSA-22013697). Unfortunately, the experience turned into a costly and frustrating ordeal.

The airline appears to have changed our flight schedule around January 2026. However, when we downloaded and printed our e-ticket just a few days before our May 25, 2026 departure, the itinerary still showed our Ottawa-to-Calgary flight departing at 3:45 PM, followed by our connection to Los Angeles.

Only later did we discover that the departure time had been changed to 1:20 PM. Because the itinerary available to us still displayed the original departure time, that was the information we relied on when planning our arrival at the airport. As a result, we missed the flight.

This disruption forced us to pay for a hotel, meals, and transportation, and because my son needed to be back in Los Angeles for school on Tuesday, we had no choice but to purchase expensive last-minute replacement tickets to get home sooner. We didn't purchase our tickets from budget air this time because of the incident that happened.

During our layover on the return journey, we immediately started a claim with the travel insurance we had purchased through BudgetAir (Chubb) so that the process could begin while we were still traveling. Unfortunately, the claim was ultimately denied, leaving us responsible for all of the additional expenses.

Afterward, we contacted BudgetAir multiple times seeking assistance. We were not expecting a full refund, but we hoped they could help advocate on our behalf or at least provide some form of credit for the unused one-way tickets that we missed due to the schedule discrepancy. Unfortunately, we were told they could not provide any assistance or compensation.

What should have been a straightforward family trip ended up costing us significantly more than expected. Between the schedule change, the missed flight, the denied insurance claim, the additional travel expenses, and the lack of meaningful support afterward, the overall experience was extremely disappointing.

My advice to other travelers is to monitor flight schedules directly with the airline on a regular basis, even if the itinerary available through BudgetAir appears unchanged, and to carefully review the coverage and limitations of any insurance offered during the booking process.

The worst! Never book your flights through them, it's always worth to book direct with the airline. They will always make up ways to make you pay extra!

Absolument à fuir. On a réservé un vol via la plateforme et notre vol a été annulé par la compagnie. Déjà aucun suivi ni prise en charge de la part de la compagnie ou de budget air. Comme la compagnie a annulé nos billets ils nous ont remboursé mais c'est budget air qui a perçu l'argent comme c'est par eux que nous étions passées pour réserver. Figurez-vous qu'ils ont gardé l'argent du remboursement et qu'au bout d'un mois ne recevant aucune nouvelle nous avons contacté la compagnie qui nous a assuré avoir procédé au remboursement. Suite à ça on a essayé de joindre budget air, un cauchemar pour avoir quelqu'un au téléphone et une fois qu'on a eu quelqu'un il nous a dit d'envoyer un mail (on en avait envoyé 10 sans jamais avoir de réponses). En plus de proposer un service déplorable ils volent les clients alors que c'est clairement noter dans leurs conditions qu'ils ne gardent pas les paiements en cas de remboursements. Je suis totalement choquée de l'expérience client c'est littéralement du vol, ils se font rembourser, ne préviennent pas, ne virent pas l'argent et c'est à nous de le réclamer.

I had a horrific accident and broke my neck a week before my flight. Budget confirmed I had a refundable ticket, but there is a service fee of course but I said I have no option they said ok we followed up weeks later and they changed their minds....they use a long stalling period...........I AM FILING COMPLAINTS WITH EVERY AGENCY THAT WILL TAKE THEM

Walk to your destination but don't book an airline ticket using BudgetAir.

They'll add additional charges for any form of payment you choose.

If you need any support after booking a ticket, the support team is rude, incompetent and only knows to copy+paste messages and not provide a clear answer and they will CLOSE the chat when they feel like it. You have no say in it.

After charging me 5,000/- INR to prebook my seats, they said- 'your seats selection failed & refused to issue the refund to me'. Pathetic service, Would never recommend it.. I will never book a flight with them in future

Booked using budget air for a trip, did not get any confirmation email which was to be expected as per their site, when I contacted support they said they will check and I will get the confirmation shortly. After a day i get an email that my booking could not be completed as the Fare did not match with the Airline, it was close to 2100 Euros and its been 10 days now and I am still waiting for the refund, and they are now saying the I will a refund reference number only after 8 weeks.
