Never got items, ghosted, and had to refute via Bank

Similar to other people here, I ordered items around October'25 and never got the items. Had many back and forths with what seemed like several people from their "customer service" department about why the shipper they use (Purlator) keeps reporting that I denied the package when I see on tracking that it never made it to my city. BDK reps made me handle all the conversations with THEIR shipping partner as to why my package is getting shipped to another state, and it got a point where I also started getting late fee invoices from USPS (which led to having to listen to 2+ HOURS of USPS hold music on the phone because I had to refute the charge). After three months of this kind of bull**** (as I write this in Jan'2026), I requested a refund from the BDK and was ghosted. It's almost laughable. While I've ordered at least many items from them in the past five years without issue, something has changed ever since their more cowboy rebrand, and I'd avoid ordering from them if you live outside Canada (where they're based). Unless you really enjoy waiting on hold, emailing shipping companies and doing the customer service part of the job for a company as the customer. Also want to mention that in my like 30 emails between BDK "customer service" they never apologized, offered any incentive, or took a single ounce of accountability.

I’m genuinely sorry you had to go through this. Reading your experience is frustrating, and honestly, it’s not acceptable. You should never be put in a position where you’re doing the work of our customer service team or chasing shipping carriers on our behalf. That responsibility is on us.

The situation you described with the shipment being misrouted and repeatedly marked as “delivery denied,” despite never reaching your city, should have been handled directly by our team with the carrier. You should not have been left to deal with Purolator, USPS, late fee notices, or hours on hold. On top of that, being ghosted after requesting a refund is completely unacceptable, and I take responsibility for that.

I also want to acknowledge what you said about accountability, you’re right. At a minimum, you should have received a clear apology, ownership of the issue, and proactive resolution. We failed there, and I’m truly sorry.

You’ve supported the brand for years, and it hurts to read that this experience has changed how you see us. I built this brand on quality, transparency, and taking care of people, and this situation does not reflect the standards I expect for By David Kollar.

Over the past few months, we’ve identified serious breakdowns in our customer service and fulfillment processes, particularly for international orders. In response, we’re bringing operations back in-house in 2026 so communication is handled directly by our team, shipping is faster and clearer, and issues like this are addressed immediately, not after months of back and forth.

If you’re open to it, I want to make sure your case is resolved properly. Our team will be reviewing your order and prior correspondence so we can address the refund and close this out the right way.

I’m really disappointed with my…

I’m really disappointed with my experience.

I placed an order with this company and went over four weeks without receiving a single response to multiple emails asking for an update. During that entire time, there was no communication whatsoever. Eventually, the order did arrive, but unfortunately it only led to more frustration.

The items I received were not David by Kollar branded, despite that being what was advertised. The shirts themselves appear to be generic, poorly made, and very low quality — nothing close to what was depicted on the website.

Since receiving the order, I’ve been trying to initiate a return and request a refund, but once again, I’m being completely ignored. Emails regarding the return have gone unanswered, just like before the order arrived. The brand and owner remain active on social media, yet my messages continue to be ignored.

Order #4062

At this point, I’m left with no option but to continue disputing the charge with my bank. I’m still open to resolving this directly if the company can provide a clear response and instructions for returning the items, but the lack of communication at every step has been extremely disappointing.

I genuinely hope others have a better experience, but based on mine, I would urge caution.

I also hear you on the items you received. Just to clarify, what arrived is BDK, but it came from a different factory than our main production partner, so the packaging/branding presentation can look different. That said, the quality should still feel like us, and based on what you’re describing, we missed the mark. I’m so sorry about that.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
I bought a graphic tee and pleated trousers The material is decent, although the trousers a bit stiff and the shirt a little more cropped than I would like as a 6' 3" individual, but I am happy with the appearance of them overall. I felt the price was reasonable for what it was.

Cons:
Horrible communication in advance regarding expected shipping times and duties. I bought these items in October and it was never conveyed that these were going to be pre-orders and not yet manufactured. Eventually they then put expected shipping dates onto their items following a few weeks after I purchased, but that felt misleading about when I could expect these items, especially when I had to move in 2 months after purchasing. I finally received the items end of December, so it was quite a wait.

Additionally, I am a US citizen, so it is pretty understood that items from other countries are facing extra duties/tariffs at this time. With most other companies I've ordered from over seas, they usually cover the duties still, or will calculate duties at checkout and apply them to your total cost and pay for it right then and there. BDK did not cover the duties (which is fine), but never conveyed that duties would be passed on to me, which resulted in a surprise bill. Again, I understand I may have to pay duties, but at least calculate that into checkout or put it somewhere in the description of the checkout to expect a bill. I find this deceptive and more of a mindset of making the sale and moving onto the next customer versus trying to maintain repeat customers.

Also it's annoying that David will state on social media they will not be running black friday sales, only to then raise prices from a $60 shirt to $90 and then give it a 50% discount to $45 just to make the appearance someone is getting a good deal, lol.

I've been buying from Kollar since 2019, but the communication aspect of this company has been very frustrating. I will give them one more try on a future drop, but otherwise I'll probably buy from other similar brands such as Cole Buxton, Duke + Dexter, etc.

Now for the bigger issues, you’re right. Our communication around pre-order timing and shipping expectations was not clear enough, and that’s on us. If you purchased in October, planning around a move, you deserved transparent dates and consistent updates, not changes after the fact. I deeply apologize that we made that stressful for you

On duties/tariffs, I completely understand your point. Even if duties are the customer’s responsibility, it should never be a surprise. We should have made that crystal clear at checkout and in the order confirmation so you can make an informed decision. That’s a miss on our end, and we’re actively tightening that up with a feature that will calculate the duties and taxes and even gives the option to prepay, which will make the delivery time faster.

On the Black Friday pricing comment, I hear you. I get how that looks, and the last thing I want is for anyone to feel like we’re playing pricing games. I take that feedback seriously and I’m going to be more mindful about how we communicate promotions and pricing so it stays transparent and consistent.

Do not order from here! ByDavidKollar is a complete scam.
I ordered several of their shirts as a Christmas gift on November 28. I paid for shipping (4 days) and it did not arrive until January 8 after many messages to their incredibly unhelpful support staff.

This company is completely incompetent and had the nerve to message "Thank you for your message, and I apologize for the delayed response. I was on holiday for the Christmas period, which caused a short delay in getting back to you." Do they not realize that these were Christmas gifts that were a month late?

When the package finally arrived, UPS demanded a payment of $47.69 USD in import taxes/duties plus a $15.00 USD UPS surcharge, for a total of $62.69 USD!! None of this was stated when I purchased the product and I had already paid $14.92 for shipping. Clearly David Kollar has absolutely no idea what is going on.

I requested a refund multiple times and they finally said: "If you prefer not to pay the import fees, you may refuse the package. Once it is returned to us and received back at our warehouse, we will issue a refund for the order (excluding original shipping costs)."

What a joke. I disputed the transaction with my credit card company and got my money back. Trust me... it is not worth the hassle and frustration. A total sham of a business.

Order never came and they lied about ever sending it out

Order never came. I fist ordered on the 19th of November then a week later contacted them and they said because of Christmas they’re having shipping delays. A month later the said they had an issue with the batch and had to order a new batch and the will ship out. Another 3 weeks and I had to contact my bank to get a refund. They email me after my bank refunds me saying your order has been delivered and send me a random tracking address of an order that has been delivered to a random address in the United States whilst I live in the UK. For some reason they sent another email along with it where another customer was having the same issue and the also sent him the random tracking email with the random address. Huge violation of data privacy laws as they sent me the whole thread between the other customer and then and his address and personal details were in that thread. So random but just goes to show how unprofessional and scammy this business is.

Regarding your order experience:
- You ordered during peak Black Friday and holiday production when we experienced delays and a defective batch on one of our manufacturing runs. That’s context, not an excuse.
- You should not have had to chase updates for weeks. That’s a breakdown on our side and we take responsibility for it.

Regarding the tracking email:
- If you received a tracking link that did not match your region, that was an operational mistake. We do not reroute orders to random addresses, and that tracking number was not linked to your order. It should never have been sent to you.

On the data privacy issue you mentioned:
- If another customer’s info was included in an email chain, that violates our internal standards and policies. We have already audited our support tool, implemented new privacy protocols, and re-trained support to avoid thread forwarding or exposure of personal data.

This situation shows we need to keep improving our communication and systems, and we are doing that.

For clarity to anyone reading:
- We are a small independent label, not a large corporate logistics operation. When mistakes happen, they are operational issues, not intentional or “scam” behavior.
- The customer received a refund through their bank, and we respect that outcome. No one should feel stuck or ignored.

Great shirt addition to my rotation!

Good fit and quality & fast shipping

I bought these as a gift for my brother for Xmas and the whole experience was smooth. Shipping was faster than expected and they arrived in perfect condition.

He’s worn them a few times already and they fit him really well. Both at very laid back events but also at more slightly formal ones as well. Overall, a great purchase and an easy gift option.

Outstanding quality and transparent process!

Any negative reviews seem to come from people expecting instant shipping or not understanding how international orders work. Delays during busy periods happen and customs fees are set by your country not the brand. That’s not new or unusual.

Customer support responded when I reached out for a size change after ordering and everything arrived as described!! If you want cheap and fast this brand isn’t for you!!! If you care about QUALITY and design ordering from David Kollar is absolutely worth it every time!!

This is the best clothing I’ve ever…

This ist he best clothing I have worn. I been shopping with them since 2021 and have not looked back. They don’t drop as many drops as I want to but when they do it’s always the highest quality. The shipping I heard was bad but I think they were using an old fulfilment centre from what I saw in the group chat, but when I ordered I got mine in 3 days so I think they changed there shipping providers. Overall very happy with my experience.
