I had already been working with Susan Farquhar and Kit Farley on another project when I found myself in a situation where my initial land registration was delayed. With approved finance ready to go, I was keen to invest sooner rather than later, so I reached out to Calla Property in October to see if they could help me find something that was ready in the meantime.
Susan asked if I could give her two weeks to come back with options. I kept my expectations modest and continued searching through my own channels, but nothing I found quite met my criteria of being ready (or close to ready) immediately. True to her word, Susan — together with Kit — came back with two well-researched options. One of them stood out: a quality property in regional Queensland, located in a well-positioned infill suburb just minutes from a major university, and only about four weeks from completion.
From there, the experience with Calla Property was excellent. They worked seamlessly with my mortgage broker, even though the process of transferring a pre-approved loan from one property to another proved to be a bit challenging. Throughout it all, Susan and Kit stayed closely involved, regularly checking in with both me and my broker to ensure everything stayed on track.
In the end, everything came together smoothly, and I was even able to settle three weeks earlier than initially anticipated — a fantastic outcome for all parties involved. The property was independently inspected by both a builder and my property manager, with no major issues and only a few minor items identified at handover.
What really reinforced my confidence in Calla’s approach was the rental outcome. The property was leased just five weeks after handover, attracting close to 60 expressions of interest. Given the timing over the Christmas and New Year period, I have no doubt it would have been tenanted even sooner under normal conditions. The strong level of quality interest speaks volumes about the depth of research and care Calla puts into selecting their projects.
I’d also like to highlight Chelsea Bruel, who manages the post-contract process. She was proactive, communicative, and highly organised — consistently keeping me updated while liaising with my mortgage broker, the builder, and my property manager. Her involvement made the entire process feel seamless from start to finish.
Susan, in particular, stood out as extremely knowledgeable, honest, and genuinely caring. At no point did I feel pressured — just supported with realistic advice and a clear focus on what was best for me as a client.
