As of the end of 2023, Candid ceased all direct-to-consumer clear aligner products and services, and are no longer associated with this profile. Candid announced this change via news publications, on its website, and in digital communications to its customers. In the two years following the announcement, Candid assisted customers who had purchased aligner kits in completing their treatments, obtaining refunds, and beginning retention. The final day to purchase retainers as a direct-to-consumer customer was March 8th, 2024. Candid no longer provides aligners, retainers, treatment accessories, dental records, or refunds to direct-to-consumer customers. Those seeking clear aligners or retainers manufactured by Candid should work with a dental provider who uses their CandidPro product.

Horrid Experience from a Horrid Company

I purchased Candid’s aligner treatment and while it’s been an improvement visually, it’s left my back gums and molars disfigured and I can no longer close my jaw properly. They promise you free refinements at the beginning so I addressed these concerns with them and asked for refinements to fix the issues, but they refused, claiming my treatment was over. Since this is a pretty major issue, I even offered to pay for refinements, but they told me they changed their policy and wouldn’t be giving me refinements, paid or not. I’m still completely shocked. I’m basically left dead in the water now and will now have to find someone else to finish a treatment I already paid for. Extremely poor business conduct, extremely poor customer service (rude and dismissive if they even respond at all) and ultimately an extremely poor treatment. And judging from the other reviews here, this kind of experience is universal with Candid, so I highly recommend you get aligners with another company that’s actually honest and ethical and doesn’t blatantly scam you.

Do not trust Candid

Candid is not reliable. They promised to offer me a third set of aligners as a refinement of my treatment. Later on, they simply told me Candid would not provide them anymore because they did not have an orthodontist to follow up on my case. It was not said at the beginning of the contract. They did not deliver the expected results.

Dishonest company

I was given 6 month treatment plan but it turned into an over 2 year plan Treatment pla. My teeth are better but are not straight. Then they told me they are done working with me, and they won't provide anymore service. No more discussion. They do not honor their guarantee and their ortho's seem to be the bottom of the barrel. I spent over $2000 with this company.

Worst service and lack of integrity

After now two years of treatment midst refinement they tell me oh im done, business model has changed, cant talk to an ortho, i had to switch states if treatment because my ortho quit, now they have come up with every single excuse to not continue my refinement phase, ive been in the same tray now for almost four months, the service representative's "liaisons" stupid ... are the absolute worst. there was ZERO communication on biz model changing , every step along my alignment was a fight! they try to just finish you off with an incomplete treatment. They are a Scam DO NOT GO THROUGH CANDID ! the worst most stressful to deal with, now the excuse is i need a cleaning to continue my refinement when i floss and mouth wash and brush my aligners with tooth paste and get great feed back on how i maintain my teeth. Im surprised i dont have bacteria being in this same tray for so long 22 hours a day they are now broken! candid does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to accommodate me as a patient. because this tray is broken its cutting my mouth . Communication is terrible. Any excuse they can give to not continue my treatment that is already contracted theyve tried to execute! now im stuck mid treatment, with no options and im paid in FULL! disgusting company, i cant even enjoy my progress because this company is a thief and ignorant. horrible .

I wish I could leave no stars

I wish I could leave no stars. But one it is…my experience with candid started out great. Though, my first impression kit got lost in the mail for weeks they eventually had to send in a new one. Doesn’t seem like that was their fault tho. Then I’m doing my first treatment. Everything’s going great. I request refinements and they send me 8 new retainers. The app never restarted after my new set of retainers. I tried to contact the company and inform them that the app wasn’t working on my behalf. No one ever got back to me. Then, I moved on, every 2-3 weeks I would upgrade my retainer until I completed the process. I finally then called to get refinements and let them know their app sucks. Apparently everything changed. For one, it’s against their policy not to follow the app. Well the app didn’t work. For two, they upgraded their policies and I can’t even buy refinements now if I wanted to. For three, you have to purchase a new permanent retainer every 6 months because their retainers are cheap and start getting loose. Just a scam to keep you coming back. So now, I am not satisfied with my teeth. They’re still crooked. Apart from that, I have one tooth hitting the back of my other tooth when I chew oh and now, my bite is off and my jaw pops when I chew and it hurts 24/7. Yet they’re not reliable for that. Just a scam. I would NOT go with this company if you’re considering them. I would if anything, go the braces route with an ACTUAL ORTHODONTIST or something with someone legit. This company is just a money hungry scam that will leave you worse than before.

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY. It is a scam and they will screw up your teeth with NO empathy or remorse. After 2 full sets of aligners, my bottom teeth are still crowded. The "orthodontist" should have been able to see these issues with my scans, right? So they would say, hey, you're teeth aren't straight. As soon as you pay, they are done, and they will ghost you. I tried to make another refinement, but because I was sick with COVID for nearly a month, I could not get my impressions sent in time. Do they care? Nope. They just keep saying, "You could have emailed or called us to tell us." Wow. No healthcare provider should be this uncaring. Good luck trying to get a refinement or any money back. They will say, " See your local dentist for additional treatment." It's a scam.

Patient abandonment at its finest. Please avoid.

Did my research prior to committing to Candid. This was back in 2021. I did like the idea of an actual orthodontist reviewing your progress. When I spoke to the sales person, they of course made it sound like they were a solid company compared to the other remote aligner companies. She mentioned that treatment would continue until things were good which was reassuring. I started my treatment in April of 2021. In short, I required two additional refinements and per my general dentist (not affiliated with Candid), due to my bite being off, recommended I have additional refinement after those two. Unfortunately, when the time came to request additional refinement (which is odd in itself that the patient has to request it), I was told that Candid had updated its terms and conditions and I could not have another refinement. When I asked about me signing up when the T&Cs didn’t have that restriction, as it seemed the T&Cs that were in place when I signed up should be what applies to my situation, I was told that by using the app (i.e. uploading your scans, which is required), I agreed to any updated T&Cs. Really?

I asked to speak to the orthodontist which of course they will tell you it’s not possible. I’m a healthcare provider and I could never imagine abandoning patients like this company does. So now I have a bite that is off that will result in quicker ware of my teeth (per a dentist’s exam) and am not able to have additional refinement.

Although you may feel this is a good idea and will save you money, I can say I will not be recommending this company to any patients, family or friends.

In healthcare patient abandonment is not only ethically wrong, it can result in the doctor being sued. Somehow this company doesn’t seem to care.

I've been using Candid for just about three years. I had really no issues whatsoever until now. Apparently their business model is changing, and no longer allowing remote monitoring, and therefore not allowing refinements after 2 rounds. I am past two rounds. I was left with no options whatsoever, merely a "your treatment is complete!"
So not sure what this new business model is going to look like, but I'm no longer a customer, against my own wishes, with an incomplete treatment.

Terrible Customer Service

Prior to the pandemic I would have highly recommended them. Since the closure of a number of their studios, if you ever run into an issue, do not expect to receive great or even adequate customer service. They hide behind technology. Find another company that cares about their customers experiences and actually honors commitments and takes responsibility when something doesn't go a right.

Scam

I got a result was unsatisfied! I needed to straighten my teeth but it turned out my front teeth looks more longer than other teeth. Every time I smile my teeth look like a rabbit!!! if you want to get straighten your teeth you should go to orthodontics!

I was excited about the treatments

I was excited about the treatments. However, the experience went awire when the aligners did not fit. Numerous attempts to get the aligners properly fitted did not get fulfilled. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with someone in customer service. The back up plan, the "chat box" would be lengthy and all the information submitted in the box would disappear and the process would start over again. As a result, the company did not respond until after the treatment time period was up. Once the treatment time is up, they will no longer assist you (best for their interest).

I used the sets of clear aligners for almost two years. The first round did not fix my teeth, and made them shift in another messed up way. I followed all the directions, and did everything as I was told to. I had to do a second round, and they are still not straight, but as others have mentioned, I was sick of dealing with them. Don’t waste your money on these!! Spend the extras $1,000 or $2,000 on something that actually works. All the good reviews I read originally must have been fake. I’m worried now after reading more of the reviews, that if I need a replacement retainer, I won’t get one and my teeth will shift. Awful company.

Not something you can do at your pace

Read the fine print and don’t pay all up front. I had a family/personal situation where I did not scan for a couple months. I reached back out them to ask how I should proceed. Candid said they haven’t heard from me so they are no longer providing me service, which I paid for in full. I ended up just finishing on my own. Candid will not provide allow you to do this at your own pace, and they will drop you as soon as they possibly can. Good luck

They won't help you once you have paid

They won't help you once you have paid. I had to pay $50 for just my upper aligner so my teeth would not completely separate to far again. If I take the braces off for longer than an hour my teeth separate after wearing them for almost 4 years now. When I gave the agent at candid mt credit card info, it was use free next day for over $600 in online shopping. Now they won't answer to any of my messages besides the same message, that my treatment is complete. The braces started to break as I worm them as well and I definitely consumed plastic from wearing those braces. I just lost another pair since you I can't take them off for longer than a de minutes or else my teeth separate. I was a refund. They deny anything when I complained on bbb.

Totally crap

Totally crap. Choose any other option for aligners. They charge you $100 for every set of retainers and tell you to replace them annually. I lost mine and they told me I would have new ones in 2-4 weeks. It’s now been 5 weeks and they haven’t even made them yet. My teeth have shifted and are totally ruined and they offered no empathy or assistance at all. They basically gave me the middle finger.

DO NOT USE CANDID

Customer service is very rude and non helpful when I had dental issues where my treatment plan needed to be put on hold and would not let me continue or monitor but also would not issue a refund. So basically steal your money and then refuse service if you are late sending in a scan.

My treatment did not move my teeth…

My treatment did not move my teeth entirely. They did renew my treatment for another round of aligners. That second phase did not work and then they kicked me out of the program saying "my orthodontist" was no longer a participant. Of course, "my orthodontist" was one provided by Candidco. DO NOT USE this company. They do not stand behind their product..

Don't use them

I used Candid Co aligners and I thought I was getting a good product. I finished treatment not realizing that I could have any issues. Months after my treatment ended I found out that my bite doesn't fully touch on my right side, compared to my left. According to Candid Co. there is nothing they can do since my treatment ended, even though this is an issue the "orthodontist" should have noticed. My Dentist is who knew my bite wasn't correct.
