someone emailed Via Auto Trader where my bike was for sale and told me how good it was. They asked if we could talk on WhatsApp. After a long conversation they asked if i get a premium history check from Carnovate. After purchasing the person said he was coming that night and never showed. the person disappeared forever. Carnovate insisted it was my problem not theirs
Sam old Carnovate scam while selling on Autotrader. The interested buyer insisted i get a premium £57.99 Carnovate history check. the interested buyer asked me loads and loads of questions about the log book, accidents etc. After receiving the report it showed exactly what i had told the interested buyer and all the stuff about MOT etc is freely available on the DVLA website. Apart from the MOT i have never had my vehicle examined but carnovate state that " A Comprehensive inspection reveals no sign of significant structual damage" etc etc etc. This company should be investigated further by tradings standards and the Police. I am not the only person to have been scammed
MASSIVE SCAM - if you list your car for sale, be careful, long conversations just to get you to buy a car report and nothing come from it.

Overall, I had a very good experience with Carnovate. The report was comprehensive and provided the information I needed before purchasing a vehicle. when selling your veichel someone will contact you as a buyer and will try to convince you to use these service from this specific website . once done the buyer will try to convince you to get a premimum check .once you do it the buyer they will dissappear . i have checked online and read lots of reviews and same stories .
lots of people got scammed like this and bank wont do nothing about it becuase you got what you paid for .

To be clear, Carnovate does not sell or distribute our reports through any third-party sellers or agents. We only operate through our own official website and marketing channels, so anyone contacting you claiming to represent Carnovate through another platform is not authorised by us.
If you believe you were misled or scammed while being directed to use our service, please email our support team at support@carnovate.co.uk with any details you have (messages, seller contact info, order reference if you have one). We'll look into it properly and, where appropriate, issue a refund and help resolve the issue on our end.
We also take impersonation and scam activity extremely seriously — if we can identify anyone misusing our brand this way, we will take strict action against them, including reporting to relevant authorities.
Scam. Long-winded messaging back and forth - insists to do it off-platform from autotrader, then desperately trying to get you to run this report, which is clearly just a bank-details gathering scam. Reporting to the police.

We want to be very clear: Carnovate has no connection with anyone contacting buyers or sellers off-platform (including via AutoTrader or similar sites) and directing them to use our service as part of a transaction. This is not something we do, endorse, or benefit from — it sounds like a third party is misusing our name/service to run a scam, and we're sorry you were targeted this way.
If you have any messages, usernames, or contact details from the person involved, please send them to support@carnovate.co.uk — this will help us investigate and, where possible, report it to the relevant platforms and authorities. We'd also encourage you to continue reporting this to the police, as you mentioned, since these scams target genuine buyers and sellers, not just our brand.
To be clear on how our service actually works: reports are purchased directly by the person requesting them, through our own site, and we never ask for anyone's bank details — only payment for the report itself. We take misuse of our service extremely seriously and will support any investigation into this.

Scam when selling a car. All they want you is to pay by bank only (no credit card), so you don't get your money back for a worthless car report.
Selling a car? Stay alert for scams with 'buyers' asking private sellers to pay for HPI / database reports.

We want to clarify a couple of things. Carnovate does accept card payments (via Stripe) for our reports, not bank transfer only — so buyers do have standard card payment protections available when purchasing directly through our site. If you were asked to pay by bank transfer specifically, that request likely came from a third party using our report as part of a scam targeting sellers, rather than from Carnovate itself — we don't instruct anyone to pay this way.
You're absolutely right to warn other sellers: scammers posing as buyers on marketplaces like AutoTrader or Facebook Marketplace often insist a seller "verify" the buyer by paying for an HPI/vehicle history check on a specific site, then disappear. This is a known scam pattern across the industry, not something specific to genuine use of our service.
If this happened to you, please contact us at support@carnovate.co.uk with any details of the buyer/messages — we'll help however we can and take action against anyone misusing our brand this way.
