Amazing and unique!
This wasn't your standard tour through Portugal, it was thoughtfully curated journey, weaving together some of Portugal's finest wine regions, Unesco-listed sites, off-the-beaten-path gems, and urban treasures. Ana and her team arranged for everything, from special tastings at family-run quintas, meals in vintner's homes, cooking classes, Lisbon, Madeira and Porto walking tours, and a jeep ride through the various regions of Madeira. They coordinated all transportation, made sure everyone knew about our dietary concerns, and included plenty of time for us to be on our own. All the guides and drivers were fantastic, well-versed in history, current events, wine, culture and food. Additionally, Ana and her team were available for questions 24/7 and made alternate arrangements when weather interfered. We highly recommend them!

Everything was great and would have got 5 stars, but the choice of hotel (Eurostars) was surprising. The hotel was adequate but no more than that. I'm sure a more interesting hotel would have improved the experience.The tours and recommendations were all excellent.

Catavino Tours put together a custom itinerary based upon things we wanted to do and their guidance and recommendations. They covered all the details that would have taken us so much more time and expense. Their app allowed us to navigate our Portugal trip with ease. We had all the information right in our hands. And when we needed them for a little help - which we did a few times - they were immediately available. Our Catavino Wine Tour of the Duero River in September of 2023 was beyond our expectations. The planning of this tour that was done by Danny, Jess, and Andrew (in Spain) and Ana and Ryan (in Portugal) was both detailed and comprehensive. Our Spanish guide, Andrew, and our Portuguese guide, Ryan, were extremely knowledgeable about regional history, winemaking and geography. We experienced everything from small craft wineries to large scale operations while learning about the wine industry. Included in our favorite memories were cutting grapes in the vineyard and "Foot Trodding" in the Largares. This was as much a food experience as it was a wine education with fabulous meals prepared by the vineyards in picturesque settings. Also, our accommodations, some of which were old monasteries, were outstanding. If you are seeking a memorable experience, we highly recommend this Catavino Tour.

Everything was exceptional: Tour guides, learning while experiencing great food and wine, transportation and accommodations. We visited large and very small scale wine producers giving us a sample of the bounty of the regions along the Duero -Douro river. The staff of Adler&Marlow and Catavino Tours were very responsive to the groups needs.

We got to meet Catavino Tours through our travel agent Regina Kret. Regina and Ana planned the most wonderful Portugal experience for my husband and me. Over two weeks, we covered the main highlights of this amazing country at a good pace, not too fast but not too slow: Lisbon, Obidos, Sintra, Cascais, Setubal, the Algarve, Porto, the Douro Valley, Braga and Guimaraes. We wanted a focus on culture and food and they delivered big time. We tried everything from street food, market food, local casual favorites to Michelin stars. The people we met were professional, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and fun. Catavino also provided very responsive concierge service along the way for unexpected travel delays or any last minute changes . We had an amazing first time to Portugal and will definitely be back. Ryan and Filipa were very attentive to our wants and needs from the get go. Along the journey they were flexible and made adjustments as we requested. I appreciate the efforts of Catavino Tours. They were extremely adept at setting up an excellent framework and guideline for my almost 2 weeks in Portugal. I had amazing guides, incredible adventures, great wineries, and wonderful places to stay. Filipa and Ryan were readily available for touchups to my itinerary. They had amazing suggestions and wonderful insights. I do not think that I could’ve been happier with the experience that I had in Portugal.

Catavino arranged our recent trip to Portugal. We really saw a lot of the country in less than two weeks, and it made me want to go back to see more, especially of Lisbon. The tour guides and drivers were knowledgeable and helpful. The hotels were excellent - comfortable, clean, roomy. The included breakfasts were delicious and varied in all three hotels.
We did not have much time in Lisbon and I wish we’d had just a little more guidance in what to see in the city. But overall, Catavino was responsive and planned a memorable experience for us.

We had a great tour with Catavino. Ryan and team listened to what we wanted and crafted the perfect itinerary for us. He and his fellow guides executed on that itinerary flawlessly. The experience exceeded our expectations.

Lovely tour! I know there are more inexpensive wine tours in the Douro but I'm sure they go to larger (and more crowded) wineries that every other tour group goes to.
We visited small wineries and had a great experience getting to see much of the wine production close-up since it was harvest time. We saw the vineyard employees selecting the grapes just brought from the fields, and got to see stone lagars full of grape juice.
We're vegan, so Catavino was able to arrange a home made meal vegan lunch to be prepared for us at one of the wineries.
All said, a great experience.

We had three different tours with Catavino Tours while in Lisbon. Each one was quite special with very knowledgeable guides that really provided history and insight for each of our experiences. The absolute highlight of our trip was our guided tour to Sintra with our guide Christina and driver Samuel. While we know Catavino specializes in tours of Oporto/Duero Valley, I was quite pleased with the seamless service, great communication and wonderful guides in Lisbon. We highly recommend using them to plan your next trip in Portugal.
