Very poor experience here

Very poor experience here. You get lies and verbal attacks if you voice any concerns in relation to the service, even to disabled people. This goes against Irish Dental Association guidelines and Code of Practice but they do not care. Our new dentist is gold standard and I am so grateful for him.
Sadly had a very poor experience here. Thankfully we were able to secure a new brilliant dentist.

Abusive staff use the phrase "we won't accept abuse" as a psychological defence to maintain control, avoid accountability, and rewrite the narrative. By weaponizing the language of boundaries, they flip the power dynamic so that the victim appears to be the aggressor.

Psychologically, this tactic fulfils several functions:

DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender): Coined by psychologist Dr. Jennifer Freyd, this is a common manipulation tactic. When confronted, the abuser denies their actions, attacks the person holding them accountable, and then reverses the roles. Claiming they "won't accept abuse" is the perfect mechanism to attack the victim's credibility and make themselves the new victim.

Cognitive Dissonance & Ego Protection: Deep down, abusive individuals often cannot tolerate the idea that they are a "bad person." By projecting their own abusive behaviour onto their target, they preserve their positive self-image and justify their cruelty.

Deterrence and Retaliation: By setting a fake, aggressive "boundary," they create a chilling effect. This tactic is deliberately designed to silence the target, cause them to second-guess their own experiences, and warn others not to speak up.

Weaponizing Institutional Rules: Staff often hide behind official-sounding policies (e.g., zero-tolerance rules for client or employee behavior) to use them as a shield. They twist the rules so that any expression of distress or pushback from the victim can be officially labeled as "unacceptable behaviour".

Dr Phillip Christi gave the best example of this I have ever seen in his response to my sons honest and probative review. He tried to change the narrative to falsly portray us as the aggressors by falsly claiming that my email complaint was loaded with name calling and insults and told my son to reflect on himself.

The 50 euros non-refundable deposit is a classic example of manipulation and control. If it is being charged to medical card holders it is not in compliance with HSE policy or guidelines.

Recognizing this behaviour for what it is—projection and manipulation—is the first step to breaking free from their control. Documenting everything, limiting direct engagement, and utilizing formal grievance or reporting channels are effective ways to counter this tactic.
