Total SCAM! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Every word in their ads is a blatant LIE! They are NOT a company based in North Carolina. They claim all items are handmade. If you are lucky enough to actually receive your order from them, it will be cheaply made China crap. Their refund policy is non-existent. Sale items are not included.

Laundry bags DO NOT stand on their own. They collapse because there is nothing in them to stabilize and make them stand upright.
The Laundry bag DOES NOT come standing up in a box, they are folded as small as possible into a plastic bag.
NO MANUFACTURING LABELS - Doubt they are manufactured in the US.

These bags are a rip-off and not as described. The bags pictured on the website have stitching outlining the patterns and look three dimensional. The bags I received have a flat, stamped design on polyester fabric. The ‘quilting’ is part of the stamped pattern but is not actual stitching. The website claims the bags are made in small batches, but these are clearly mass produced.
I had to ask for a tracking number. I got a map of Chicago with a location balloon that didn’t move in ten days. The package was shipped using Yanwen, a Chinese delivery service, not UPS as stated.
The website claims they are rated 4.8 by 11,540+ customers. However there is not a single review prior to October 2026, which is probably how long they’ve been in business. Do not buy from Clara and Owen!

This website gives false information. These bags are not hand quilted, they are printed on cheap, thin fabric. They are definitely not worth the price they are selling for.

They shipped from Texas, not NC, and the shipping label indicated from Yanwen Express Warehouse.

I just received the 2 baskets I ordered from Clara & Owen. I am extremely disappointed! This company is supposedly in NC, the shipping label under the FedEx label was from China. The baskets are not self standing, definitely are not quilted, I have done quilting myself, it’s just a pattern stamped on cheap fabric. Definitely stay away from Clara & Owen and all the other companies who seem to be selling the exact same, cheap, product

The baskets are not self standing, the lining is poorly attached. The most disappointing product I have ever ordered. Plus I was being told order was in transit but no update for 3 weeks. Would not recommend. Waiting to see if any response from customer service.

Replying to Clara Owen's response to my initial review:

1. Their response appears to be written by AI. Much like the multiple email replies I received that were almost identical.
And, interestingly, other reviewers (especially the reviewer named Cheryl) responses and experience appear to be identical to mine.

I wish I could upload a picture of these so-called “hand crafted laundry baskets” to address their claim they don’t fraudulently advertise. They are absolutely nothing like the pictures on their website. This review is coming from someone who is an experienced sewist/crafter who can tell the difference between “hand crafted” and “mass produced.” Speaking of which- if these are “hand crafted in small batches” in NC (since 2001?!) by their “small studio team” as per the bottom of their website, why do they need “multiple fulfillment partners”

Under the FAQs: “Every piece is drawn, cut, stitched and finished by hand in our Asheville Studio.” Where is this studio? Nothing comes up on Google Maps when searching for Clara & Owen.

2. Why would a “small business in Asheville NC” need to register in Delaware? NC requires businesses to be registered, why wouldn’t they register in NC? Links are not allowed in reviews, so look them up under Delaware SOS site -TijZen, LLC.

3. Why was there a label with Chinese writing under the label that was used by Yawen Express?

Once my initial review was posted on TrustPilot, I received an email from Clara & Owen within 30 minutes asking me to take it down and that my order was set as "PRIORITY". I was told that 2 weeks earlier when I contacted Customer Service. Miraculously, I received my order 3 days later. Much to my disappointment, the items I ordered looked NOTHING like what was shown on the website. The fabric (polyester) was basically printed to look like it was quilted unlike what was shown on the website. Although their website claims a "full return" with "no questions asked", nothing could be further from the truth. I spent 2 days going back and forth with them stating I expected a full refund. When they refused and gave the excuse that the items were already deeply discounted, I contacted my credit card company and filed a complaint. Once Clara & Owen received that notice, they agreed to refund me 80% of my order and let me keep the items. I was tired of fighting with them and agreed to the refund but strongly encourage potential buyers NOT to do business with this company. I also suspect their "customer service" is AI.

i am waiting and waiting. No one responds to the email asking for an ETA. I will probably try to cancel. My advice, do not order. it is a scam and false advertising to say these are made in North Carolina. I will refer to the Attorney General In North Carolina for investigation.

Bags are NOT as described. Trying to return the items, and the company is not honoring their policy. They keep saying, "I'm sorry our website is confusing." These are NOT quilted items as described and pictured. These items are PRINTS of quilted baskets. One company response says below that all items are shipped from NC..... Not so because my order was shipped from California. This is a bait and switch. Spent $190 for things that aren't as described. I just want to return the items and get a refund, but the company is refusing even though it states on their own website that clearance items are eligible for full refunds. I've sent them screenshots of their own website with these exact words and their response is, "I'm sorry our website is confusing.". I've been fighting this all this week. This place is a scam.

Although it did take a little while to receive my order, everything else with the experience with Clara and Owen has been great. Customer service was awesome, and the laundry basket it so adorable!

The laundry baskets are unique and well made.

Beautiful design. Bigger than I expected. A little disappoined the the lining was seperate from the quilted exterior, which makes it sag a bit, but once I pack it with blankets, it will be fine.

Terrible experience. Scam. This was supposed to be a little mom and son operation in North Carolina and it took weeks to receive my items. Once I received them what was supposed to be the beautiful quilted totes arrived as poorly printed non-quilted thin polyester. The laundry baskets looked gorgeous on the website with accent quilting around the design, but NO. Just white machine quilting in a random design. Extremely disappointed and I was really duped. Very expensive and was so hopeful to buy local and receive beautiful gifts for Christmas.

The clothes hamper was way too big at the large size and asked how I can exchange for small and I was allowed to keep and they gave me $30 to replace with a small. That was more than fair plus I like sponsoring small business! Win win ! Ty

The tracking number indicates my “hand made in Asheville basket” originated in China. Customer service gives non committal answers. This appears to be a scam.

Added: I am still waiting on tracking information on a package that was shipped on October 6.
