We used construction supermarket went with Darren Street Elite Construction Ltd Kent. Out of 3 recommend by cs. Extension finished January/February 2022 although meant to finish beginning November 2021. So December 2022 we had water appear in ceiling wassaped Darren had all different excuses do it was February 2023 we when he came and adhered flashing to wall. Now 7mnths later end October 2023 we have water coming through light wet patches in different places on ceiling tried to get in touch with Darren no answer. I emailed threatening legal action got reply he was ill. In meantime my ceiling getting soaked. I lost confidence in him payed to have roof replaced. He has used wrong tiles for pitch of roof. I’m in throws of court action. I rang Harry at CS said I had personal sighted guarantee from builder. But I have to spent the money now taking him to court. I think CS should be helping more

All the bad reviews highlight the issues you will have with this company. Engage with them at your peril!
Builder quotes, assurances etc then £154,000 JCT contract for large extension.
Build was nearly 3 weeks behind after 4 weeks. Workers assigned were non-English speaking with basic skills. No machinery on site, all with a spade.
Mistake after mistake made, H&S non-existent..
After several meetings with builder and Construction Supermarket, the contract was ended. They then tried to threaten court action and sent debt collectors to the address asking for more money (which would have been about 3x the cost of actual work completed).
We have had to instruct a quantity surveyor, building surveyor and solicitor to not only defend but proceed with court proceedings for recovery of a percentage of money already paid as a first instalment. We are continuing with our own build now which has required us to take most of their work down and do it properly.
You have heard it all before - lots of companies being registered and directors moving about creating an incestuous money making enterprise. The director of construction supermarket was in our case a director of the building company they recommended!
You have been warned!
UPDATE: Construction Supermarket have been quick to reply to my review, giving flippant inaccurate information, twisting the timings and attempting to discredit me. Not much content on the actual build though! Yes I am the upset father and yes I served 30 years, retiring as a police inspector with exemplary service. Someone needs to explain to them that slander relates to something that is not true. I rest my case!

I used Construction Supermarket to find a builder, eventually settling with Black Pegasus Ltd. This builder did not finish the job and informed me he is dissolving the company.

My original contact at Construction Supermarket has left and I have had no replies to my emails sent to the company. They appear to provide no after-sales care to help with issues. Once the contract is signed, you are on your own and this company will not help you if there are issues.

CS introduced me to VB from LPB Ltd (more recently EGC ltd) who was one of the builders that construction supermarket recommended that we go with as they said they had done many projects with VB which sounded promising as after doing my own research on VB there wasn’t a trace of any work that he had done and no reviews but as construction supermarket said that they had worked with VB and supplied reviews we thought it was legit.

There was problems from the start with VB and LPB ltd as the structural plans were not followed and key materials were not used (flinch beam) which resulted in building control not being able to pass off there work as corners were being cut to save money. There were also delays due to the structural engineers having to re calculate the current work and make amendments so that work could be continued. It was clear that the LPB workers had no experience and were just laborers trying to do the work, which was concerning but not a surprise. After 8 weeks of work and not much done ie nothing was installed VB requested more money to continue the project and if he didn’t receive any money he would delay the project by 6 months. This is when I called Construction Supermarket as I hadn’t herd anything from them since I paid the 30% over to them about our problems and they agreed that they would try an get the project back on track.

We agreed to pay the next installment and the work carried on for a further 3 weeks until is was clear that LPB ltd couldn’t finish the project off as the ensuite hadn’t even been started on after 10 weeks and questions were being made by myself to VB on the quality of work and when things would be installed. VB emailed myself saying that they wouldn’t be returning to the project and left my property in an unlivable state, as there was no kitchen, no electricity and a leaking gas pipe (we were at the time living in the property). We contacted Construction Supermarket who said they could only try and get VB to return to the property to give us back our electricity and cap off the leaking gas pipe properly but said (and we have proof) that they had cut all ties with VB which I was surprised to recently see that the MD AC from Construction Supermarket had gone into business with VB which is called Eco Green Construction Ltd. After sending emails to VB about wanting our money back we received a letter stating that they would counter sue if we proceeded with legal action, having now seen that VB and AC work together im sure that it was Construction Supermarket who I was emailing and not VB.

So after paying 16k we were left with an unlivable home. We submitted a CCJ against Valon Berisha from London Pristine Builders Ltd for which he was ordered to pay back over 10k in damages to myself. Instead of paying the money back for ruining my property and subjecting myself to a living nightmare he decided to liquidate his company so he wouldn’t have to pay me back a penny. It was also highlighted that VB only had a Van as an asset and no tools so he operates by going around winning contracts then sub contracting the work to low level workers who have no building experience.

Ive recently taken legal advice on the contract that I signed with Construction Supermarket to see if the personal guarantee was in the contract all along but they have said that the personal guarantee is ambiguous which offers you no legal safeguard.

After spending another 25k to hire new builders and replace all LPBs work due to poor workmanship and poor quality my project has finished.

Be very careful if you decide to go with Construction Supermarket and now more recently MBMW as they come across as legitimate but when you do a lot of digging on the people that work there you see that this company is not what it seems to be. I would recommend looking on Linkedin, Companies House and Credit Checks for all Construction Supermarket employees as you can clearly see that they are sales people with No construction/building experience. I would also recommend to get legal advice on the contract they send you so that a professional can review it to see if you are infact legally covered as I would rather lose £1500 than 50k.

I would never recommend construction supermarket to anyone as i wouldn't want anyone to go through what i experienced as it was a nightmare year that i had, with a half finished house and financial ruin that was caused by people that should not be allowed in the building industry as they can ruin lives and not care one bit about it.

We found them awful and negligent.
We approached Construction Supermarket with a tender for a major works JCT contract. They supplied us with 3 builders. One had phoenixed his company and setup a new one, same name, different address, with CCJs on the old company. One we rejected, luckily, and subsequently discovered they had several CCJs. The third we went with after recommendations from Construction Supermarket. This company was absolutely horrendous. Serious issues there, with dangerous work, lack of insurance, and frankly fraud. They billed us for work that wasn’t done on our foundations, and covered up the foundations with concrete before they could be inspected. After firing the builders and evidencing their deceit, we contacted Construction Supermarket to inform them of the conduct of their recommendation, asked for proof of their due diligence of the builder, and have heard nothing despite several emails and calls. I cannot recommend this firm on any basis and have found the builders they recommend extremely dishonest, which speaks volumes about Construction Supermarket themselves. If we knew before what we know now about Construction Supermarket we would have stayed well away. Reading through the negative reviews on trust pilot and Google about them has reinforced that view. I note that they have setup similar companies and websites to Construction Supermarket, presumably to “aid” consumers to reach builders they choose. As the Directors of Construction Supermarket have refused to engage with us, and supply us with due diligence of the builders they recommended and supplied to us, it makes us wonder how truly independent their due diligence is.
On 18th April 2023, after numerous calls and emails to Construction supermarket, they responded to our previous review. Only time we actually got a response. In their response, . We have the emails and proofs that they were kept informed through the process, and they actually supplied us the builders insurances that were valid at the start of project. All of this is in writing. We also have the proofs we emailed them, and they had the temerity to email asking for a review last year, where we told them in no uncertain terms what we thought of them. Their response, denying any part in the process is typical of UK Builders. Blatantly dishonest. I wish anyone luck who works with these guys. Their denial is amusing especially as they get paid by the builders for sourcing work for them. Conflict of interest much. We went with a Major works JCT contract as the sums were not minor in the contract at £700,000 for building work alone, and the last thing you want is a contract from a firm with a massive conflict of interest. The build company they supplied appointed a project manager as they know. At no point did they contact us post contract signature.
I note they have setup a new company offering much the same under a different name. You have been warned

Construction supermarket have responded. Note they deny everything, even though we have the full email trail. Their strategy when receiving bad reviews is to ask Trustpilot to remove them by flagging your review for using personal details (which they are happy to), or to deny ever doing business. The Directors of Construction Supermarket are simply dishonest in doing so, although that is their modus operandi. It’s amazing how all the negative reviews say the same thing, that they will take your money and run. They also take a large percentage of money from both the builders and the people they source builders for. Anyone using them is advised to read further online, look at Companies House and do credit checks on their builders. You’ll probably find CCJs and company Phoenixing galore

Omar, Oliver & team have been very helpful in finding builders and managing my project. They have advised on how best to deal with certain issues that have arisen during the project, in particular toward the end of it which drags on much longer than one would want.

In particular I would commend them on their follow up / customer service which is often lacking in this industry.

I would use their services again.

I contacted construction supermarket when I wanted my conservatory replaced. From the beginning they were extremely professional and made me feel at ease. They remained in contact with me up until the very last day and even popped in after to check I was happy with the end result. I'd 100% recommend, especially if you find it hard to trust work men due to previous experiences. Will definitely be using the company again. Thank you very much!

My husband and I were hesitant to instruct Construction Supermarket for our rear extension as we try to use specialists we have known of for a longer period.
Harry and Andrew were incredibly helpful and supportive throughout our decision making. We are still in the building process but almost complete (in the estimated time frame) with no real complications.

From start to finish the team did an excellent job, a few surprises along the way, were dealt with and explained to us on how to resolve and what extra costs would be.

Don't trust this company. They approached me after my planning permission was approved and promised to bring in specialists for the project I was undertaking. They have a few builders they work with and get commission from and those builders are nothing but bad news. They got me in trouble after forcing me to sign a contract and pay a deposit to the builder and the builder disappeared and so did constructions supermarket. They never tried to help me retrieve the monies the builders stole from me, in fact. If you need to see proof or learn more contact me.

As far as an introductory service goes, I absolutely can not fault the work of Construction Supermarket. They delivered on every promise that they made us and provide three clear and detailed quotes, offered to put an industry standard contract in place, liaise with builders, provide 2 free site inspections via a third party, and run all background checks in their builders. They do this for free for the customer. My current project has a project manager onboard and he shares the opinion of this being a very impressive service for free, and parts of it do overlap with project management (an expensive paid service). Additionally, CS also put an insurance in place for their client’s build and, as most insurers will not cover a build on current insurance, this can save people hundreds of pounds in renovations insurance.

The team at CS are also incredibly hard working and really go out their way for the clients, in order to try and secure a build.

The company delivers on what it says it will with professionalism and an incredible competitive free package. I could not find a fault with their service and how they provide it.

The team at Construction Supermarket are knowledgable, patient and helpful throughout. They are transparent with costs, and are quick to provide answers/updates throughout. They have been very helpful throughout or design phase as we look to find a plan and contractor.

We were delighted with the promise, the charming introductions, and the choices of contractors. Maybe we were unlucky but £39,239.11 down, 12 months over the completion date, we have finally finished our nightmare.
Construction Supermarket introduced us to Mick from London North South Builders. It turns out he has several CCJ against him, his address was bogus, as was his insurance. The structural drawings were not followed, and much of the work had to be redone or corrected. Some of the subcontractors were cruelly not paid, (including one bricky who is now back in Ukraine defending his country). Construction Supermarket were informed all the way through, but said they could only try and persuade the contractor, and were not the project managers. When Mick walked off the site having pocketed a lot of the contract fee, Construction Supermarket promised to help find another contractor. That was the last we heard from them, and calls were not returned.
They recommended Mick to at least 4 other people we have heard of, including some KNOWING the nightmare we were having. Unfortunately, they have all ended as badly as it did for us.
If you use them, remember that the contractor pays their fee, and that is where their interests lie ultimately. Tread very carefully, the charming and reassuring salesmanship is very compelling.

Very professional service, that brings value to the process of selecting a builder and de-risks it. Andrew is very knowledgeable about builders, their capabilities in relation to projects and the main elements to watch for in a quote. We would definitely recommend using Construction Supermarket as they are good at shortlisting builders that are competent and well-insured, and making sure that the quotes provided are comparable and reasonable.

We were unable to secure a builder for our project BUT this was not down to Construction Supermarket, and certainly not due to any lack of effort on their behalf. Andrew (and I am sure his team behind the scenes) went to great lengths to try and find a builder. I was kept up-to-date throughout, chased where necessary to supply plans and feedback.

In the end, any significant project needs external expert advice. It's no good asking your mates; I felt that I had this advice and could rely on Andrew to provide this. I cannot (and therefore will not) comment on any particular builder other than to say that one of them was excellent. Personable and professional and prompt and that is all you can ask for when trying to secure a builder.

I would recommend as it is a great service, what would make it excellent (5*) would be a one-stop shop that catered for all the professional services needed. An holistic architect/structural engineer/contractor/etc. service is IMHO the way ahead.
