Had a stairslift fitted yesterday by Graham. From the phone call, to John coming out and explaining options, pricing etc and the job completion yesterday in just a week was absolutely seamless and so professional. Graham was totally professional and did an excellent job. Many thanks to everyone. Well done to ye all.
We had a stairlift fitted by Cork Stairlifts in 2024 which has been fantastic for my Dad in helping him get up and down the stairs , without it he could not be at home . We had a small problem this Bank Holiday weekend which Cork Stairlifts responded to and they solved over the phone . We were so grateful for their response and excellent service .

We had no problems getting the stair lift installed, we opted for a second hand stair lift and it worked perfectly. It was installed in December my grandmother sadly passed away at the end of February, I rang John to see what were my options regarding getting rid of the stairlift as it was no longer required but still in perfect condition. John advised that the cost to remove it is €250 “but in this instance he would do it for free” I asked if there was a possibility for us to sell it back to him and get a partial refund as we paid €3k for it a few months prior and it is still in perfect condition he said no way, the chair couldn’t be re-used due to Covid (ridiculous) and the motor would have to be thrown out as it was re-conditioned in the world we live in today with global warming etc I find it extremely difficult to understand how a company could justify dumping such a thing. I imagine he receives numerous requests similar to ours however I was deeply unimpressed by his response and definitely did not appreciate when he told me to “flog it off on done deal”. I have since contacted other stair lift companies who are willing to uninstall and take away the stair lift off and offer us a few hundred for it, that is all we expected at the end of the day. It’s easy to provide good Customer Service before the sale it’s after that is what makes all the difference.

Firstly, I would like to express our condolences on the passing of your grandmother. We are always disappointed if a customer says they are unhappy with any aspect of our service but we welcome feedback. I am familiar with this installation as I organised the sale from start to finish. I’ve worked very closely with others members of your family to speed up the process as it was Christmas week. It’s unfortunate that you and I had no contact during this process, prior to your grandmothers passing. Perhaps if we had, you would have understood more clearly our company position on buy-backs.
As you said, there was no issue with the installation because we discussed the urgency of the situation with your family and made your installation a priority. Even though it was Christmas week, we included your stairlift installation as we understood it was a high priority one order and we work on the basis of priority.
Where you became dissatisfied is when you wanted to sell the second-hand stairlift back to us after a period of about three months. We understand why, on the surface this would seem to be a perfectly reasonable proposition but would like to address and hopefully clarify the situation regarding our buy-back policy on second hand stairlifts. While other companies purchase second-hand stairlifts and re-use them over and over, we do not. The reason for this is that we are ISO certified and our customers safety is our top priority. When a stairlift is re-sold second or third hand, it has had multiple owners, so you can understand the potential health and safety risks that arise from multiple users, not to mention issues with warranty.
When we install a reconditioned stairlift, it is always in immaculate condition and absolutely fit for purpose. Unlike some of our competitors, we have never and will never fit a stairlift that has had multiple owners. By guaranteeing that only a single previous owner has used the stairlift, we maintain our ISO standard. This is why we are the only stairlift company in Ireland that has achieved ISO certification and why we are not in a position to resell your grandmother’s stairlift – despite the unfortunately brief period of ownership.
In relation to the chair not being re-used, as you can understand, when there are multiple users of the same seat, those seats must be replaced with new for sanitary reasons. We had this policy long before, during and after COVID as every client deserves to have a pristine seat in perfect condition on their stairlift.
We are sorry if you were offended by our offer to remove the stairlift and dispose of it free of charge. You must understand that we would still have to pay the engineer for their time as well as the disposal charge for machinery and equipment – so this was not an empty gesture. We understand some of our competitors buy second, third and fourth hand stairlifts but we do not condone this – so the suggestion that you might do better trying to sell it yourself was not meant to be taken as dismissive. We cannot sell stairlifts that have had multiple owners but as a member of the public, there is nothing to prevent you from doing so. If other stairlift companies buy back your second hand stairlift, you are entitled to make that sale, as the stairlift is your property.
When we make a sale, we hope that our clients will have many years of safe use and we stand over the quality of every single stairlift. We take calls 24/7 in case of emergency and we always try to find a resolution to suit all parties. It is unfortunate that your grandmother got so little use out of her stairlift. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Had stairlift installed before designated time as it was deemed high priority and while we waited we were kept informed of the progress of our order as it was a curved stairlift. The company's staff were always very professional from start of assessment to installment. John was always polite, supportive and exceptionally clean in the installation process. Would highly recommend Cork Stairlifts.

I sent an enquiry email to Cork Stairlift about a stairlift on behalf of my friend, who asked me to help him with handling the communication and eventually installation. The response was from within few hours, where we got answered all our pressing questions, followed by arranging a house visit to discuss further details. John Lyons came to my friend’s house, respecting all the current health and safety Covid guidelines, and explained patiently all the ins and outs of the process - from initial paperwork to installation of a stairlift, and even how to claim back the VAT. On the day of installation, the work itself was very quick and clean, we could barely notice the engineers working there. The whole approach to customer has been exceptional at every step of the way, with understanding and individual approach, no rush and a lot of patience. Highly recommend Cork Stairlift services!

I found the firm Cork Stairlifts very accommodating. Conor, Graham and John did the job for me in quick time and got on with the work. They were very strick on covet protocols. Had everything sanitised including pens.
