Really pleased to not be sleeping on chemicals. Was in need of a new mattress this was worth the extra money to not feel like im breathing in chemicals every night. Does take a long time to arrive but to be expected with a handmade mattress. It's a comfortable mattress and I really enjoy the wool smell. Smells like pure gold to me.

So disappointing.
Bought a Topsham mattress in 2022. Great experience in the showroom and absolutely loved the mattress I tried there. Delivery was disappointing and the experience at home didn’t feel the same. I have really tried to like this mattress - especially as it was so expensive - but it’s been so disappointing. I sleep just fine when I stay elsewhere but wake up with a bad back most mornings on the Topsham. I have finally decided to get rid of it. I should have done this sooner. Sorry, not for me.

From our records, the delivery issue you mentioned was not raised with us at the time of your order. As this relates to an order from over four years ago, it does make it difficult for us to fully investigate or respond in detail now. We always aim to provide a high standard “white glove” delivery service, and when concerns are brought to us at the time, we work closely with our delivery partners to investigate and resolve them promptly.
We also offer a 40-night reassurance guarantee, which allows customers to exchange a mattress if it isn’t suitable for their comfort. Unfortunately, we have no record of you contacting us during that period to discuss any issues with comfort, and we would have welcomed the opportunity to help.
As a small business, we genuinely care about our customers’ experiences and always strive to resolve any concerns directly and fairly. It’s disappointing to receive this feedback so long after the purchase without having had the chance to address it at the time.
Very pleased
It was a good experience from ordering it, getting it delivered and now from having used it for some time.
It is the best mattress ive owned, I suffer from chronic illnesses and the difference from my old mattress to this one is a big difference in pain management for me.
Its firm but so huggable in the best way.
I will be eventually getting more for the other beds in the house.
I love the ethics and wanted something more safer.

High Quality Mattress
We bought a small double mattress for our daughter. The company replied my emails well on time and was very helpful. We were well informed about delivery time and that was arranged easy with no issues. Mattress is very high quality and extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic futon
Fantastic, super comfortable futon. The smell disappeared within 5 days and I am super sensitive to smells. I now started enjoying sleeping on the floor again next to my son's bed :)

Amazing products
Amazing products, helpful team. We bought a double sized mattress for our toddler to put in his new floor bed. It arrived super quickly. Feels nice and soft (but not too soft). Also, it's great knowing that it is chemical free and made from only natural materials. Will be looking to get a mattress for the adults next.

Sidmouth mattress
Sidmouth mattress ordered, was very easy delivery. Mattress arrived In five weeks after placing order.
Very pleased with the comfort of the mattress definitely a good decision.
Provides great sleep let’s hope it lasts for many years.

Comfortable and long wearing without chemical fire retardants
Comfortable and long wearing, this is the third mattress we’ve purchased as we are slowly switching all of our beds to flame retardant free mattresses. Looking forward to trying a non-turn version.

Perfect mattress - chemical-free and vegan
My son treated me to a new mattress last year. We are a vegan family and I was looking for a chemical-free option so chose the 'vegan choice'. One year of fantastic nights sleep later and I still take a moment to appreciate the comfort each time I lie down! Highly recommend!

I would not buy from this company again
This review is after I decided to change the first mattress I bought with the same company. The first mattress, a non organic wool Widecombe mattress, had way too much odour for us that wouldn't dissipate. My daughter's room, her pyjamas and her hair would smell of sheep. The odour didn't really diminish after 1 month and I asked several people to confirm that it wasn't just me feeling the sheep scent and they all did. I decided to exchange the mattress for another one because that was my only option since I opened the mattress and my daughter had used it (I only started using it because in the documents I got from the company it said that the smell would dissipate and I trusted them). The only smell free option was the synthetic ('vegan') option which it was too far from what I originally wanted to buy, so I decided to go for an Appledore with an upgrade to organic wool (a bit less smelly). I paid for the delivery and the upgrade to organic wool (extra ~£200). I think the Appledore is a bit better. It still smells but not as bad as the Widecombe. Overall I wouldn't buy from this company again. I understand that you want the wool not to be heavily treated but I think there is a big difference between getting the wool directly from the sheep (with sweat, bacteria and dirt) and having it bleached. I received another wool sample from another company (wool was also not bleached) and the smell was not there. Unfortunately I couldn't go for them because I could only exchange the mattress and not get a refund. I thought it should have been clearer that the smell would not dissipate with time. If I had known this I wouldn't have used the mattress and I would have got a refund.

As a small company, we try very hard to make sure all our customers are happy and we will try and help with any issues as best we can.
Reviews are a really important tool, helping to build confidence for potential customers whilst also allowing a company like ours to positively showcase our craftmanship. Receiving a 1 star review can be damaging but it also gives us a chance to respond.
We manufacture chemical free mattresses, our natural range uses wool as well as many other natural fillings. To remain chemical free, there is no middle ground when it comes to the cleaning of the wool, it is not that we 'don't want it to be heavily treated', it is that we don't want it treated at all. All wool is cleaned using a double scouring process and rinsing, which removes everything it needs to.
We do not hide that our mattresses will come with a wool aroma, this does dissipate over time. The time this takes is dependent on an individuals sensitivity to smell. We have a range of mattresses available within our natural range, and whilst they all use wool, the amount of wool varies. This customer bought our Widecombe mattress (which apart from the springs) is a pure wool filling mattress, there is nothing else in it. This customer did not speak to us before purchase and did not request samples of the materials we use, which we are very happy to supply.
We offered to exchange the mattress under the terms of our 40 night reassurance guarantee, even though the customer did not qualify for these terms, and the customer chose the Appledore - upgraded to organic wool (which is a more expensive product). We also offered the chance to exchange to a mattress from our Vegan range. These mattresses still use natural fibres where possible and don't use wool, they have to include polyester as there is no other way to pass the UK fire regulations without the use of chemicals. We have found that these mattresses have been very successful with people who are sensitive to smell.
As a family run business, we have worked for many years to be able to offer natural and chemical free mattresses to everyone. If you are worried about smell, then we have options available. To receive a 1 star review for a fully wool mattress 'smelling of sheep' is frustrating.

SIMPLY THE BEST. Made in UK with materials from UK. No fire retardant chemicals or any other chemicals added. Peace of mind and above all excellent sleeping comfort. I now have 4 mattresses and mattress protectors. Recommending to others. Oh and it is a pleasure to talk to the dedicated staff on the phone.

I couldn’t be happier with my Cotton…
I couldn’t be happier with my Cotton Safe mattress! From the moment I placed my order, the customer service was absolutely exceptional, responsive and friendly. The mattress itself is incredibly comfortable, and knowing it’s made from natural, chemical-free materials gives me real peace of mind. I’ve never slept better. This has been one of the best purchases I’ve made, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more in the future. Highly recommend!

It sags after a year
I bought two of these single Lates Futomat about 2 years ago. One of my boys is complaining about sagginess of his mat. We do shake it and turn it around regularly as it recommends. However, the natural material does not support like those spring type or expensive memory forms. Although I wanted more natural material bed for my children, I would not buy it again.

Hello, Thank you for your review. We are really sorry to hear that you have had problems with this product. The Futomats are a futon based mattress that need to be regularly flipped and rotated. There is an amount of settlement that we expect with these products, especially when an option without a spring is selected. The product comes with a 1 year manufacturing warranty but unfortunately I can't see that you been in touch to discuss options.

We bought two single Vegan Luxury…
We bought two single Vegan Luxury mattresses almost one year ago and after twelve months of comfort I thought I really should complete a review. We live just down the road from Cottonsafe so we able to visit the showroom before purchase. Rebecca was always so helpful and there was no pressure whatsoever. The ordering process was straightforward, the mattresses arrived as expected and we have been happy ever since. For anyone seeking a well made, comfortable vegan mattress without any nasties this is the place to go. Definitely 5 stars.
