I wish I had read these reviews earlier. Do not buy a Dahon directly on their website. I am still waiting for a refund on my return and they have been ignoring my messages for more three weeks now. Terrible, and hoping it is not a scam and I get my money back.
I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with Dahon has been unacceptable.
I purchased two folding electric bikes from Dahon, including a ~$3,000 Unio. About 10 months ago, I reported a warranty issue related to the electrical system. Since then, the process has been extremely frustrating and remains unresolved.
Communication has been slow and inconsistent—often taking weeks to receive a response. After initially asking me to troubleshoot the issue myself, Dahon eventually authorized me to take the bike to a dealer in San Diego. The dealer attempted multiple repairs, including replacing the motor, but was still unable to properly diagnose or fix the problem.
When I picked up the bike, I was told it was “fixed.” In reality, the quick-disconnect had been cut off and the wiring hardwired directly—this is not a proper repair, but a workaround. On top of that, I was charged $375 because the dealer claimed Dahon would not cover the work.
I contacted Dahon again two weeks ago to raise these concerns and have not received any response.
At this point, I’ve lost confidence in both the product and the company’s support. I would not recommend Dahon based on this experience.
I am reviewing my second Dahon Bike. The first was a Dahon Mariner D8. This review concerns the purchase of the companies new K-Feather electric bike. I have no qualms with the products themselves. I would recommend with the caveat, buyer beware.
The lack of responses timely if any is dismal. Including inquiries for additional purchases from the company.
They do not match the extraordinary ability to process payment and ship to your home. Coincidentally not responding to any last many changes that may save the consumer exchanges, returns etc.
I’d also advise purchasers to read the terms of sale promos VERY CAREFULLY!!!
I ordered a bike from Dahon that was listed as in stock (and still is), paid for it, and then received an email a few days later saying that the bike is "unavailable at this time" and "on the website for trademark purposes". So sketchy, and such a waste of my time.
