The very best you could wish for
From the initial phone call David was the most helpful, calm and warm person you could wish for in an extremely stressful and difficult situation. He helped guide us to get the service my dad had wished for in a direct funeral but allowed us to pay our respects at the same time in a dignified and supportive way. An exceptional service & highly recommended.
My daughters and I would like to express our deepest gratitude to David and his team for the care and support they have provided after my husband’s sudden passing. David was there from the start, gently guiding us through the initial shock and the handling of all the necessary arrangements for the funeral. He looked after my husband with dignity and respect, (thank you David for looking after Graham so well, as soon as you collected him into your care I felt calmer).
It was with David’s expertise and experience that we had a very fitting and personal service. He was able to manage & arrange a very large funeral, & his confidence and competence helped when it all felt overwhelming at times. Always reassuring, checking in and supporting us step by step. The additional tribute of having one last visit to my late husband’s beloved rugby grounds was carried out with such ease, David went above and beyond here, ensuring the grounds were accessible and allowing other mourners time to watch the tribute and to then get ahead of the procession to the service safely. It all went so smoothly. At the service itself, David was there, gently guiding us & making sure my husband’s funeral all ran like clockwork and that we were getting through it. Loved ones and friends who were unable to get to the service, watched the live service online & reported how perfect it had been organised and delivered.

It was an honour and a privilege to care for Graham and to support you, Hannah and Millie through such a sudden and incredibly difficult time. I’m particularly touched to hear that you felt a little calmer knowing when Graham was safely in our care.
Rugby was such an important part of Graham’s life and his final visit to his beloved Stockton Rugby Club was a very special and fitting tribute. But above all else, Graham was a devoted family man, so it was important that his farewell reflected not only his passion for rugby, but most importantly the love he had for his family and the place you, Hannah and Millie held at the very heart of his life.
The number of people who came together to say goodbye spoke volumes about the man Graham was and how highly he was thought of.
Thank you for entrusting Graham into our care and for sharing such kind words. It was a real honour to help ensure his farewell reflected the life he lived, the things he loved and, above everything, the people he loved most.

The most compassionate service you could ask for
David went above and beyond in his care, professionalism and kindness. You gave our family the peace and calm in the minefield of grief. It was such a shock to lose my sister so quickly and we all felt very lost. You came and gave my parents a direction and ensured that Antonia’s funeral was perfectly conducted with dignity. We all can’t thank you enough from that first moment, to the last; you checked in on us every day and made sure we were happy and involved with every step. We could not have asked for more. From the very first moment we met, it was clear just how much Antonia meant to each of you. I was aware that losing her so suddenly was heartbreaking and I know those first few days were an overwhelming blur. I'm grateful that we were able to help take some of that weight from your shoulders and guide you through everything one step at a time.
It was so important to us that Antonia's funeral reflected the love you all have for her and that you felt involved and supported in every decision. Reading that we were able to bring a little peace and calm during such a difficult time means more to us than I can put into words.

My wife died following 3 years in a Care Home with progressive Alzheimer's dementia. We wanted a church service and cremation followed by a life celebration with buffet tea. David organised everything, his knowledge of the processes and relationship with the people involved at every stage was amazing. He was able to help my family and I with decisions and make recommendations without being pushy in any way. I can't praise David enough for guiding me through the process of arranging every detail of my mum's funeral. He has been so compassionate, helpful, supportive, friendly and such a calm presence at an emotional time. He was always very quick to reply to any queries I had and went through everything in detail. In addition to the funeral arrangements David also booked the wake venue and assisted with the death registration process, as I needed to do this in a different area he liased with the medical examiners and register office to ensure this was a smooth process.
On the day David and his team provided an exemplary service and calmly guided me through assisting as one of the bearers.
I can never thank David enough for enabling me to give my mum such a beautiful funeral which was everything that she would have wanted it to be.

I honestly can’t thank David Knowles…
I honestly can’t thank David Knowles Funeral Directors enough for the care and compassion they showed to me and my family during the most difficult time of our lives.
We first used David Knowles for my mam’s late partner, Richard, and the care they showed then clearly stayed with her. When my mam received her diagnosis, one of her instructions to me was to use David — and now I completely understand why.
From the very beginning, they treated my mam with such dignity and kindness, and supported me through every step of the process. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they made everything feel calm and manageable at a time when I felt completely overwhelmed.
A special thank you for the kindness shown when I came to visit my mam — I was supported in a way that made me feel safe, never rushed or judged. That meant more to me than I can ever put into words.
Their professionalism, empathy and genuine care truly stood out. I will be forever grateful for everything they did for my mam and for me.

I cannot recommend David Knowles enough
I cannot recommend David enough. He is exactly the kind of person you want at your side when you have to face the most difficult of times….saying goodbye to a loved one. In this case, my Mum. He provides a calm, professional and caring service, coming to your home and putting you at ease. He is easy to talk to, warm, a lovely smile and reassuring. You soon realise he will think and take care of everything and do his utmost to make everything as perfect as possible. Nothing is too much trouble. He is very patient because he knows how much it means to the family to get things just right for their loved ones. David oversees everything personally so you know everything is understood and will happen just as you’ve planned. I cannot put into words how reassuring that is. Nothing is too much trouble and he responds incredibly quickly which again reduces your stress and anxiety at the saddest of times. If anyone asks me in the future who to trust with this important service to a loved one I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending David. He obviously takes immense pride in the service he provides and so he should. Thank you David, as a family we are so very grateful for your care and attentive service.

David went above and beyond any of my…
David went above and beyond any of my expectations and worked tirelessly throughout the evenings and weekends to ensure my Dad received the exact send-off that he'd asked for and that my brother and myself wanted with regard to time and date etc. He was incredibly caring, calling me most days to ensure I was kept informed of progress and checking on how I was. From my first call to David to my last dealings with him following the passing of my brother, David has provided a service that is literally second to none. David’s manner is respectful, empathetic, professional and nothing is too much trouble. He listens and understands and works with you in such a caring and respectful manner to ensure all of your needs are met and indeed exceeded. He has the ability to make you feel that you are the only people receiving a service from him and his team, though the reality is he is extremely busy dealing with many families. First class service
David delivered an absolutely wonderful service for the funeral of my dear husband. As a much-loved family friend, it cannot have been easy for him.
David's experience and attention to detail helped us greatly in arranging the funeral we wanted with a church service, followed by a committal service and cremation.
Nothing was too much trouble for David and some of our relatives who had contacted him about flowers etc all said how extremely helpful he had been.
We cannot thank him enough for his care and support he gave to us all at this most distressing and difficult time.
