THESE CROOKS HAVE BEEN CHARGING ME FOR MONTHS! I tried to cancel and they do NOT RESPOND!!! I NEED A REFUND!!! Only used February and March 2026 and they keep charging my card!

I took the Subscription because I…

I took the Subscription because I needed it. I tried to cancel it before the payment and I couldn't find the button to do that - To be honest it was not so clear if I had the subscription after all or not. Then when the first day of the payment came, my card was charged. I contacted them but didn't receive any answer. They don't care. Terrible abuse of students, like the money just doesn't matter to us.

An update: Deepdyve contacted me and luckily I got a refund. Everything is ok now but I'm hoping that they could improve the experience in the future.

Still charged after canceling subscription before trial ended.

I signed up for the trial period and canceled before the 30 period was completed. I was still charged $59 for the following month. I sent two emails because of course there is no phone number to call. One was sent 9:00 eastern time and the other at noon eastern time. No one had the decency to respond in an entire working day.

Hi Nacole, the $59 was refunded the next day (June 2) and your cancellation confirmed. You shouldn't have been charged after cancelling in-trial, or left waiting a day for a reply — we're sorry for both, and working to respond quicker.

It bears repeating that our refund policy is to refund any charge within 30 days of the date charged, no questions asked.

this platform is atrocious

this platform is atrocious. i subscribed with a free trial for a service which costs $999 (!?!) a year, and i had to pay an extra $37 to download an article? i felt like i was hallucinating. no words left for how awful this service is

Hi Zuzanna, sorry this was confusing, and fair feedback. Here's exactly how it works: your subscription lets you stream (read in your browser) the papers in our streaming collection, unlimited. Not every article is part of that collection, though — some are available only as a paid download, and the price for those is set by the publisher. The $37 was one of those download-only articles, charged on top of your subscription. We know that split isn't obvious enough up front, and we're working on making it clear before you hit it. Thanks for taking the time to flag it.

I was never ever able to open a full…

I was never ever able to open a full PDF. I had the first page when I tried to open the PDF. I got a blank screen. I repeatedly asked the company for customer support received. None I did receive all the things that I could do to buy the full subscription, which I would never buy was such poor customer service.

Hi Kate, without a paid subscription you may have been on the free Freelancer plan, which lets you preview an article (that first page) but limits full streaming — so the rest didn't load. The blank screen should have explained that, and your support requests should have been answered more promptly. That's on us.

Absolute scam. Avoid this company at all costs.

Absolute scam. I wish I could leave zero stars. Checked my bank statements to find this service had been charging me for several months. I emailed their customer service? team who were unable to provide any sort of confirmation that I had subscribed to their site. They said they don't do that. Not a single email about signing up, confirming charges, trials ending, monthly subscriptions, etc. NOTHING. After a quick google search, it appears I'm not alone. Check your bank statements and avoid this company at all costs.

Hi Rebecca, I understand finding unexpected charges is unsettling. On your account, the trial terms — when it would end and what you'd be charged — were shown at checkout, a confirmation email was sent when your subscription began, and several account emails followed. When you raised it with us, we refunded several months, more than the single month typically offered.

For anyone else weighing this: our signup and billing terms are laid out up front, and our policy is to refund any charge within 30 days of the date charged, no questions asked.

Feels like a scam...
I made an account and started the trial version to access a few articles - however, since that first time, I haven't been able to even just access the site let alone cancel the subscription before it auto-renews... My password apparently isn't enough, so they send out an email with a number you have to input within 10 minutes - but the email doesn't arrive for hours.
Any attempts to contact the customer service have been in vain without even a confirmation email.
Can't recommend using this service even if desperate for an article - like I was.

Those codes can also land in your spam or promotions folder, so it's worth checking there and adding us to your contacts so they arrive in your regular inbox. Once you're in, you can cancel anytime from account settings before it renews.

Great journal subscription service that has tremendous value

The service itself is straightforward to use and provides great value at a very reasonable price compared to other subscriptions. The subscription covers most of the major medical and health economics journals, but the biggest gap that I found was lack of coverage for journals published by Elsevier. Overall the subscription is definitely worthwhile and the article renting feature is really unique especially for individual researchers who no longer have institutional access to journals. I initially had an unresolved billing issue, but DeepDyve's customer care team was able to address it very quickly. I'm impressed!

It's hard to confirm from the info here, but I do see that someone with your first name signed up recently with two different accounts; one was canceled and the other was not and was charged, as that account continued to look at papers. We did respond to that email on the same day, though, so maybe that wasn't you? If you can share more info we can see if we can correct how your account was handled.

Great Customer Service

I signed up for a free trial on DeepDyve. After a little while I realized it wasn't for me so I wanted to cancel. I had trouble canceling my subscription on the website so I contacted customer service via email. I was shocked to get an almost instance reply. They worked everything out for me. just the way I wanted.
Edit: the problem I had cancelling on the website was on my end (some issue with my browser) The instructions were crystal clear and easy accessible- no worries!
