Duties and Taxes issue - RESOLVED
UPDATE ON BELOW - Desertcart decided to refund the Duties and Taxes I paid on my purchase. Even more importantly, I can see that they have corrected their website - it no longer shows that Duties and Taxes are included in the cost on their sales page. My thanks to both Desertcart and TrustPilot.
In March I ordered a set of model rockets for my international school's exam level astronomy class. The order page clearly stated that Duties and Taxes were included in the cost. Shortly after the arrival of the order, I received an invoice from FedEx charging me for the Duties and Taxes.
I wrote to DesertCart's customer service, who in turn claimed that on the final page of the order they reverse themselves and make the Duties and Taxes the customer's responsiblity.
After several back and forth emails with reps who give their names and Shruti and Syed, it has become clear that DesertCart is aware of the contradictory information on their website and have no intention of changing it.
I have paid the duties as it was not FedEx's fault, and am not looking for money back from DesertCart. I am posting so that potential customers know they cannot trust what is written on DesertCart's website. I would resume ordering from them in the day they removed the deceptive information from their order page.
