Polite mechanic refused to do the job that he said he was going to do.

I was recommended this company by a friend. However the mechanic did not arrive and did not telephone me to explain why he did not turn up. When I finally got in touch with him he made some excuse. Ask me if I still wanted to employ him to do the job. And I said no because I felt that he was unreliable. With that I got a load of abuse and I hung up. He was not very professional.

Thank you for your feedback. I’d like to clarify a couple of points for anyone reading this review. At DPFDR we specialise specifically in diagnostics, DPF cleaning and ECU solutions — we’re not a general mechanical repair service. If a job falls outside our remit, we’re upfront about that, as it wouldn’t be fair to take on work we aren’t set up to deliver.

We pride ourselves on being reliable within our field, and many customers recommend us for exactly that reason. I’m sorry if there was any misunderstanding in this case, but we do not refuse work without good reason, and we certainly do not behave in the way described here.

Top bloke

Top bloke, gave him a ring after thinking my dpf needed a clean, after being told by a garage there was somthing wrong with my dpf. He got here very quickly not long after calling and did a diagnostic and assured me the dpf didn’t need cleaning and all my problems were down to my clutch. He didn’t even charge me for wasting his time, highly recommend him

Very helpful

Very helpful, called and came to check our car the same day. Ended up not needing the dpf cleaning but was very professional and didn't charge for checking everything over. Would highly recommend

I saw a member of this company abusing…

I saw a member of this company abusing a member of the local council because they were being given a ticket for parking diagonally across a blue badge bay.

They said some truly horrible things to that person and I find this to be a disgusting way to conduct business in public.

I wont be using this service any time soon.

The response from this organisation is untrue and symbolic of the disgusting practices that they use when interacting with the public.

They can deny the wrong doing if they want but I spoke with the officer after the incident and he advised that the company would get a ticket in the post soon anyway. Good.

Scummy behaviour like this should not be tolerated, far too much of it going around at the moment and I am glad you are getting charged for it!

Brilliant

Did an online form off his website called within half hour. Arranged to come out next day.
Brilliant guy, great service, can’t fault his knowledge and work.
Helped tell us what to do in order to get the best out of our vehicle fuel wise and recommended air con being done as that is needed for our DPF.
Highly recommend.

Not all hero’s wear capes!

Had a DPF fault while on our travels and spotted the DPF DR Van on the motorway, called him and he was happy to help there and then and got us sorted in no time on the side of the road! Lovely guy, saved our holiday! Thank you mate 100% recommend :)

Colin and his technician went above and…

Colin and his technician went above and beyond to sort my car out after it went into limp mode with a DPF fault. They spent time checking the sensors and engine to make sure it was the DPF before sorting out the problem. Colin was very friendly and professional. I live in Newton Abbot and they got to me the same day, fantastic service.

No show and blanked me….

Booked for 11am today but didn’t show so I called him and he said he would be about an hour but never arrived, no calls or texts to explain, I’d taken a day off work too. I wish I’d looked at Trust Pilot first and I would have seen he has a growing reputation for not showing up and blanking customers. Such a shame he looked so promising.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your review — although I need to set the record straight.

You booked in for 11am and did call me on the day, which I answered. I explained clearly that I was running behind and expected to be around an hour. That part is true. But unfortunately, what followed was something neither of us could’ve planned for: my own van broke down while I was en route to the next job. I ended up physically under the van in the middle of the day trying to get it sorted enough to continue working. Not ideal, not professional — but very real.

Yes, I didn’t respond to your follow-up message asking “Are you still coming?” and I hold my hands up for that. That’s a communication failure on my part — and I understand how that might’ve left you feeling ignored.

What you didn’t mention, however, is the tone of the message you sent next — before I even had a chance to recover or respond:

“Thanks very much for not turning up and costing me a day off work. I should have checked Trustpilot first where you already have a reputation for the same and one that I’m happy to add to.”

That felt less like a genuine frustration, and more like a warning shot. It was clear by then that you’d already decided to leave a bad review — and anything I said after that would’ve been viewed as damage control.

For clarity, you weren’t the only customer affected that day. Several others were impacted by the same van issue. The difference is, they allowed me to follow up the next day — and I resolved their issues, received their thanks, and even got great feedback from them.

Running a mobile service isn’t always perfect — I work solo, across multiple jobs, and every day brings its own surprises. But I genuinely care about delivering good, honest work and looking after my customers.

I absolutely welcome constructive criticism — it's how we grow. I’ve already taken lessons from that day and made changes to ensure better communication when things go wrong. But I do draw the line when my character is called into question by someone I haven’t even had the chance to work with.

To say I “blanked” you or “didn’t show” is a selective version of events. I spoke to you. I explained the delay. I failed to follow up after the breakdown — yes — but I didn’t vanish without a word. You chose to take that and post multiple reviews under different names across platforms, which says more about your intention than the actual experience.

This review is your truth. That’s fine — you’re entitled to it. But mine is also valid: I had a bad day, owned my part, and still strive to deliver value and fairness to every customer. Including you — had I been given the chance.

Diagnosed the issue with my Audi instantly !
Dealt with my wife and reassured her the work will be carried out on bank holiday Monday out of working hours to get us back on the road ! Very good at what they do will definitely if needed use these guys again !

Stranded 100s miles from home, DPF DR Saved The Day!

Arriving at Torquay for a family trip away, we had a DPF full warning error pop up on the dash, putting the vehicle into limp which we failed to force a regen.

Leaving the vehicle for the next few days whilst we enjoyed our holiday, returning to the vehicle in hope to just limp it back and get it sorted once home.

However, vehicle refused to even start leaving us stranded, 150+miles from home with a 3 week old child and 3 year old child.

Searching google reviews we called DPF DR, who filled us with confidence and was with us in 20minutes!

Finding various issues with the vehicle, talking us through each issue, and resolving everything in hand, his knowledge and manorism was second to none.

Within the hour we were all set, engine running with no faults, followed us to fuel station just to ensure we had no further issues

With finding and resolving boost issues which we were unaware of the vehicle drove back better than ever, and even dropped us a call later on just to ensure we were ok, and the vehicle had responded well etc..

Highly knowledgeable, friendly and an overall genuine guy running a genuine business.

Saved us £*00s and saving us being stranded, having to worry about recovery on a bank holiday, and accommodation costs etc..

made a stressful event rather humouring!

Hopefully won’t have to see you again mate haha, but I cannot thank you enough, and wish you a successful future.

You saved us, I will forever appreciate your assistance

Happy to use again

Running late but kept me up to date with ETA and to be honest, I wasn't too concerned as it was a Sunday and mothers day so I was just thankful they could come out at all.

Ran a diagnosis and found both dog and egr were fine. Turned out out to be a sensor. Unfortunately they didn't have the part on them but suggested if I needed help fitting it, then to give them a buzz and they would do it for me. Friendly professional service going above and beyond. Happy to use again.

Full 5 ⭐ from me. After breaking down the RAC stated that the ECU had failed. Dpf Dr came out to diagnose the problem and quickly found a loose fuse housing and solved the issue within minutes. Would definitely recommend
