I highly recommend Darren and the team at Drewberry. Darren was incredibly helpful and diligent in providing a comprehensive Income Protection recommendation report tailored to my needs. He took the time to review my existing life and critical illness policies thoroughly, as requested, and offered expert, impartial advice. The process was smooth, and his follow-up was prompt and professional. I appreciate the peace of mind that comes from working with such knowledgeable and dedicated financial experts. Atrocious customer service, mis-sold an insurance policy
I have actually worked with Drewberry for maybe three years. Most things went well in the first few years but in the most recent interaction, everything went pear shaped.
I spent hundreds more on insurance than I needed, and even though they paid me £100 in compensation, I would rather have not had the headache of dealing with them.
They claim that the advisor I was working with no longer works at Drewberry, and I have no way of knowing whether that's true or not.
I had an income protection insurance with Company A and was looking to decrease the cover in April 2025. My advisor ignored my email for two months. I was away and only chased him up again in June. He said he didn't see my previous email.
The Drewberry advisor looked at a few options and sent me a comparison list. I decided to go with Company B.
Before I signed the contract with Company B, I specifically asked them clarify what they mean with the motorcycling exclusion. I was on the phone with advisor at the moment. He said he would need to hang up, phone up Company B to clarify things, and phone me back.
When he phoned me back, he informed me that riding a motorcycle on unpaved roads and paved roads are both included. It is just motorcycle racing and stunts etc. that are not included.
This was in line with what I wanted so I gave my bank details and set up payment.
After I signed the contract, I received Company B's document stating motorcycling sport is NOT included. The advisor and I had a discussion about this and he said riding a motorcycle on unpaved roads is not included after all.
I was not happy about this and wanted to look into other options. I was mis-sold an insurance policy.
He said he would defer the payment and look into other options for me. He also said he would ask my current insurers, Company A, and see if they can change the policy to lower the amount of income they cover.
I also wanted Company B's terms and conditions about the motorcycling in writing. He said he would get Drewberry to write a letter and send it to me. I said a letter from Drewberry is not sufficient. I asked for a document from Company B. He said He would ask Company B to write this letter.
So from first emailing them about changing my cover in April to chasing them up again in June, it was now late July and early August. Everything moved at snail pace with Drewberry.
A bit more back and forth and it was mid September. Every time I was on the phone with the advisor, he was very courteous and always said 'just leave it with me and I will do so and so for you first thing tomorrow or next week.' Then a few days or a week or two would pass, and I had to chase him up, and he would promise me he was on the case, and then a few days and a week or two would pass, and on and on again.
In the meantime, Company B had taken two payments from me. After the first payment was taken, I informed the advsior payment has been taken from me even though he asked them not to. He said he would talk to them and make sure they would not take another payment. He said he would defer payment and get the payment refunded.
Another month passed, and a second payment was taken.
In the meantime, I hadn't received any update from him on whether Company A could change my policy. I talked to him on the phone a few times and each time he said to 'leave it with him' and he would 'get on it.'
For 1-2 months, I didn't receive any document or letter from Company B about the terms and conditions of motorcycling coverage. I hadn't received any updates on alternative insurance policies.
Then I chased him up again. On the phone, he informed me that he couldn't get me the first month of payment back because 'I have accepted the terms.'
So the blame was laid on me that I have trusted his words that he would get my payment back for me and did not cancel my policy.
He also informed me that he would now ask Company A whether they could change my policy. This means he hadn't even asked them whether they could change my policy and I had been waiting in vain.
The advisor even said it was not his fault I hadn't received any updates because they were 'at the mercy of insurers.' He was blaming the insurers for being inefficient.
I was mis-sold an insurance product and was paying for two insurance policies.
So from June when I chased them up on changing my cover to September, I spent hundreds more pounds on insurance than I needed. I was on the phone chasing up this guy or emailing him once every week like it was my job.
Eventually I submitted a customer complaint. I could not just keep paying for two insurance policies, neither of which met my needs.
The original advisor's manager took over the case and assigned a new advisor to me. By late September, they found out I could reduce my cover with Company A and cancelled my policy with Company B. But alas, I still had to pay the higher insurance premium for yet another month because it took so long.

I had contacted one of the large private health insurance companies earlier and I found them to be somewhat robotic and patronising in their response, I decided to utilise the services of a reputable broker. Aidan was my contact at Drewberry and the whole process was inciteful, helpful and engaging. I had no hesitation in accepting the competitively priced policy.
In summary, friendly, helpful and reassuring. Highly recommended.
