EBAY is the most corrupt

EBAY is the most corrupt, greasy, unscrupulous store in North America. I can make a list of sleazy practises they practice, but I do not have that much time. Bidding? They love to add $10 or so on the final checkout. You have to be vigilant at every page turn with these sleazeballs.

If I could give them no star I would
Purchased an item and they sent me the wrong item I sent it back and the told me they'd only give me back 1100$ not the fill 1298$ for no reason. I sent the item back and eBay received it then nothing all customer service went silent. Finally 3 weeks later I was told I'd have my refund in 3 business days 2 weeks went by and still nothing then I was told 24/72 hours I'd have my refund 3 days went by still nothing. I'm doubtful I'll get my money back.

⭐ 1-Star: Hazardous Shipping Error + No Buyer Protection

I placed an order on Oct 7, 2025 with a UK-based eBay seller (“dees-online-retailer”). The seller changed the shipping method without my consent, switching from Royal Mail (as advertised) to UPS. This unauthorized change caused unexpected brokerage fees and the parcel was flagged as a hazardous item due to improper declaration. It never left the UK and was eventually returned to the seller.

The seller ignored messages and failed to provide the update he promised. I spent weeks contacting UPS and CBSA to fix a problem caused entirely by the seller’s action. Although eBay refunded the item and shipping, I was left responsible for the brokerage charge—an expense created by the seller’s mistake.

What is most concerning: eBay removed the honest, factual feedback I left to warn other buyers. This erases transparency and leaves customers unprotected when sellers misuse shipping carriers or misdeclare parcels.

eBay needs stronger oversight of hazardous-item declarations, enforce consequences for unauthorized shipping changes, and ensure buyers can safely report seller misconduct without having their feedback deleted.

As of Dec 1, 2025, I am still trying to recover the UPS fees. This experience shows that buyers can be left with the administrative burden and additional costs, while sellers face no accountability.

Proceed with caution when relying on eBay’s protections.

In the last year I've seen ebay.ca drastically go downhill almost every package goes through DHL now so expect to be extorted for 20 US dollars on every package you order. In the past month many of the things I ordered on eBay we're not shipped for over 10 days after purchase and eBay refused to cancel purchase that hadn't been mailed out 10 days after purchase. I would highly recommend shopping at abebooks.com, Amazon, or Facebook Marketplace eBay has become a scam website.

Headache experience

Three phone calls. One chat. 3 hours. Wrong information given by multiple people, same script read, zero solutions involving eBay taking the responsibility they have for charging bogus import fees on an international purchase where my country is NOT charging any duties. eBay is a case study in terrible customer service, how NOT to treat a customer as a big company, and how to have the most needlessly rigid policies that nobody can make an exception on. Worst of all is how uneducated eBay's customer service is on their own stupid company policies and rules, telling me incorrect information repeatedly that can be proven wrong by a Google search in a few seconds. The only reason I'd even waste a second buying anything from here is if it was 100% unavailable anywhere else.

Suspended account for no reason

I recently went on my account and found out my account was on suspension. I have no reason why it would be like that. I emailed customer service and got back a quick response saying they looked at the account and is suspended indefinitely. So I messaged again and asked can you give me a reason for the suspension. I got back another response saying do not try to open a new account we will know you have opened one. So I called Ebay and a guy from customer service answered the phone and said "thank you for being a customer for over 4 plus years. Then after 15 min of him looking through my account says not to call back and says my account is suspended and that's final then hangs up. For the record I collect Hot wheels, and I am a Batman fan plus I have a son all I buy is cars.

eBay is Unfair to Sellers and the Payout Delays Are Ridiculous


Selling on eBay has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had as a small business owner. While the platform might still be useful for buyers, it’s becoming increasingly clear that eBay does not care about its sellers—especially those trying to operate professionally. The most serious issue I’ve faced is the way eBay handles payouts. Even after I’ve successfully completed a transaction, shipped the product on time, and the buyer has received it, eBay still delays my payment by several days—sometimes longer—with no solid explanation or accountability.

This is completely unacceptable. As a business, I rely on predictable, timely payments to manage inventory, shipping costs, and day-to-day operations. eBay, on the other hand, seems to have no regard for how critical cash flow is to the people who are actually generating their revenue. They instantly deduct their fees from the sale, but then withhold the rest of the money that rightfully belongs to the seller. They claim this is part of their “managed payments system” for security or verification, but there is no transparency, no consistency.

It feels like eBay is holding sellers’ money hostage. Meanwhile, the buyer has their item in hand, the transaction is complete, and there’s no dispute or issue. So why is the seller forced to wait? These delays aren’t just inconvenient—they’re financially damaging. For small businesses, every day matters. Delaying funds for 3, 5, or even more days adds up, especially when you’re selling multiple items and relying on that revenue to keep your operations running.

What’s worse is the complete lack of support. Reaching out to eBay’s customer service is a waste of time. You either get an automated response or a generic reply that doesn’t address your specific concern. There’s no escalation path, no clear resolution, and no sense that your business is valued. It’s like sellers are treated as liabilities, not partners, even though we’re the ones providing the products, handling the logistics, and absorbing the risk.

I’ve sold on other platforms like Etsy and Shopify, and they pay their sellers promptly. They also provide clear communication and support if something goes wrong. eBay, by comparison, feels outdated and dismissive. Their systems are rigid, their policies are seller-unfriendly, and their communication is virtually nonexistent.

In short, I would not recommend eBay to any serious seller or small business. If you care about being paid on time, managing your business properly, and being treated with even a basic level of respect, look elsewhere. eBay might have been great years ago, but now it’s a platform that punishes its sellers and prioritizes profit over fairness.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ve been selling items for six months now and my payments are STILL being held. I shipped my items within days of selling and have received great reviews from my buyers. The usual hold on my payouts was two weeks, however I just sold an item and the hold period is now ONE MONTH. I called support and they were of NO help. I’ve since removed all of my other items.

Premature email

I received an email that my product was delivered. 19 days later and my product STILL hasn't arrived. Based on the tracking number, apparently it's in a warehouse but it is taking a suspicious amount of time to arrive. Very weird.

Purchased a pair of sunglasses from seller ltwholesaleinc as New with Tags. Ended up receiving someone's old used prescription glasses instead. Sent back to the seller without paying the brokerage fee. eBay would not support this as they expect you to pay for the seller's mistake in shipping costs. Why? Then they explained to me that this goes to a 'forwarding center' and there is nothing they can do. Complete shipping process mismanagement and lack of accountability. At the end of this I was out of a product and the scam seller made a profit on a product they would never be able to sell thanks to eBay and their complete lack of buyer protection loop hole. Feedback is not even available for the Seller nor the "Buyer Protection" Reps.

Buyer terrible - ebay customer service was worse!

I purchased a product and it wasnt never received. The buyer would not communicate with me so I reached out to ebay. ebay did nothing but apologize and advise me there is nothing they can do. I have advised them I will NEVER purchase anything from ebay again. Their attitude is one where they simply do not care. Guess they have enough business.

Extremely unsatisfied.
I never received my items, but got mail to review them. For some of them time of delivery did not come yet, but it asks if it was delivered in time.... I wrote i never received. The seller is offended. I contact e-bay customer service with screenshots of threatening mail like address can not be found and extra charges are going to apply. I explain that every delivery man finds my PO mail box easy and this is checked and clear and there is no mistakes. I am getting the answer with advices to check my home address, like house or apartment number, etc. and they close the conversation! Extremely rude and disrespectful! They did not read what i wrote them or they do not know what PO box is? No even reaction for my screenshot about site which delivery service redirects me is considered dangerous and security system no way lets me to open it "to correct the address" More then that! They say delivery is not their responsibility as a selling platform!!!
I demand my money back now and i will go all legal ways to get them. Of course, never going to use e-bay anymore.

Absolutely terrible shipping service…

Absolutely terrible shipping service through eBay. I have had 2 or 3 items go missing. I got notification that the parcel was delivered but when I tracked it still said it was at their hub. eBay did refund right away, however disappointed in not receiving the item after waiting 4-6 weeks for it. I had to look for new items and wait for them to arrive. Are sellers required to ship through eBay? I sure won't be using eBay any more to purchase anything. What a disappointment.

I have mixed feelings about this…

I have mixed feelings about this platform. On one hand, I have ordered from them, and twice, the items that I got, were a rip offs. I had not problem at all, getting a refund back immediately. I praise them for that. However, on the other hand, I am a seller there as well. 99% of the buyers, have been super amazing and grateful. I am grateful to them for that. They have left good reviews about my business. However, it has happened twice, where I know, the buyers were sucumbags who wanted the items just for free, and made false claims. eBay, sided up with them, and I took the financial hit. The last incident was last month. The dishonest buyer, received the item right away because I usually ship my orders, within 48 hours at the most. Some times, I ship my orders, the next day. Like a month later after he had received the package, the buyer had the audacity to initiate a return, claiming that the product, was not as described, and that he wanted to return it? The return policy says that items can be returned within 14 days. The item was a beautiful US 1917 Mercury silver dime. There couldn't be room for me, being deceitful because it was a unique coin, and I had many close up pictures on the post.Since he item was under $100.00 dollars, I just authorized a refund. Leaving me again, at losses minus my precious coin that I had been keeping for years. I didn't even receive a thank you note from the buyer, or at the very least, a good review. I am starting to think that that behavior, is part of an organized crime ring? They get the items for free, then, they turn around, and sell them for half the price. My other theory is that they want to find out where we live, so that they can go and wipe out our property? However, since I don't provide my physical address, which means I don't take their bate, they just return the items because they didn't really want them at the first place. I think, I will rather pull out of that website, everything because I am afraid to keep losing money from there. On the other hand, it is very frustrating that buyers can leave feedback, negative and unfair comments about a seller, but sellers, don't have a way to leave a reasonable and honest feedback about a scam and thief shoppers.🤷‍♀️

It took me about 10 emails and 15 phone calls to finally have someone call me to send me a return label at no cost which I am supposed to receive at latest Friday March 28, 2025. I got an item that was scratched, missing parts and instructions and that did not work.I am beyond pissed.

Chinese seller item never arrived so I…

Chinese seller item never arrived so I filed a claim and received a credit. Tried ordering the product again, the seller extended the date of delivery so that I could not make a claim. Ebay would not credit the item because it was past the delivery date. TOTAL SCAM! Much easier to order off Temu as they stand behind their products and you don't have to deal with individual sellers.

Fees to selling Ebay are very high.
