I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Menominee, MI, and this was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. The biggest problem was the noise. There was constant door slamming, talking, laughing, yelling, and general hallway noise at all hours. This was not just occasional guest noise; it felt like a 24-hour problem throughout the building. If you need sleep, quiet, or even a basic level of peace, this is not the place.

The room itself was poorly maintained. The microwave was weak and barely useful. The refrigerator froze my drinks because the temperature could not be adjusted. The coffee maker used cheap pods that produced weak, flavorless coffee, and getting extra pods from the front desk was treated like an unreasonable request. Several lamps either did not work or were clearly low-quality fixtures. The TV was poor quality, hard to watch, and many channels were either unusable or not what most guests would expect. The room telephone did not work, meaning I could not call the front desk from the room.

The light control in the room was also bad. The curtains did not block enough outside light, and there was a large gap under the room door that let bright hallway light pour into the room. This made it difficult to sleep during the day or rest properly at night. The key card also caused problems and stopped working after repeated attempts, which became another unnecessary inconvenience.

Cleanliness was below standard. The bathroom did not appear properly cleaned, with dirt and cobwebs behind the toilet. The shower head was poor. The towels did not appear professionally prepared. The sink stopper was stuck down, so water would not drain properly unless I forced it open manually. The bathroom heater ran briefly but did not produce meaningful heat. The toilet area was cramped, and the bathroom layout was uncomfortable to use. The dispensers for toiletries were not useful, and the amenities felt cheap and neglected.

The floor was another issue. There was no carpet, only a fake wood-style floor, and it felt dirty. Walking barefoot was not an option unless you wanted dirt on your feet. I had to keep socks or shoes on inside the room.

The air conditioner was also essentially nonfunctional from a guest-control standpoint. It appeared locked at around 70 degrees and fan mode, with no real ability to adjust cooling or settings. That would be a serious problem in warmer weather.

The hotel claims to be non-smoking, but that was not my experience. I smelled cigarette smoke and marijuana smoke in multiple areas, including in or around my bathroom. Signs may say no smoking, vaping, or marijuana, but based on my stay, enforcement seemed nonexistent. The smell was unpleasant and constant enough to affect the stay.

There were few meaningful amenities. Trash cans were small, trash bags were small, and even when I asked for a larger garbage bag, I was given another small one. The overall impression was that everything in the room had been selected because it was cheap, not because it worked well or made the guest experience better.

The bed was acceptable, and the room did have a decent number of outlets. Those were about the only positives.

Even at a discounted rate, this hotel was not worth the money. At normal pricing, it would be even harder to justify. Between the constant noise, smoke smell, poor maintenance, dirty flooring, weak appliances, bad bathroom setup, and lack of basic comfort, I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

I stayed in Boaz Alabama and the front desk was amazing. They offered to help me carry in my luggage. Rick was very helpful and kind. The continental breakfast was included in my room price, and the breakfast included waffles. My room was spotless with all new appliances. The hotel was quiet and peaceful. There were plenty of places to eat in the area within walking distance. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay.

When looking at prices online the price showed anywhere from $79-$121 and when I got here I paid $380 including the deposit. The room was absolutely disgusting, the sheets were stained, lampshades were stained and haven’t been wiped down in who knows how long. The room was absolutely NOT worth no $380 for the night. Would love to hear some feedback from the owners regarding this experience.

Horrible Manager !! Monil Modi was so extremely extremely unfriendly and unkind! I would not recommend this property, nor will we ever stay here again! My advice, find other accommodations!

Choice Hotels @econo lodge christiansburg, VA your hotel is disgusting! I booked a night on 4/15/25 and the room was so gross! Water damage, smelled terrible and there was fresh BLOOD on my blanket! When I called to complain I didn’t even get an apology! The hotel offered me a 25% refund! For fresh blood on my blanket, you should give me 100% refund! When I called @choicehotels I was offered 8000 points and that doesn’t even cover a one night. Stay anywhere nice! Do better this is disgusting! I would have given zero stars if possible!

They don’t book to locals!!!!! And they won’t refund your money!!!!! I booked through Priceline and Skiplagged for this hotel they all are scammers!!!!
SCAM ALERT ‼️ 🚨 This is the worse company I’ve ever tried to get my refund from. First they say my refund has been processed now they saying it non-refundable but the hotel refuse to book me a hotel because they don’t book to locals! Somebody need to give me my money back! It’s been 3 damn weeks now!

I was coming through Mississippi on the interstate and my car broke down, and a sign pointed to Gulf Springs, and I came down 90 and stopped at the waffle house. I called several establishments in the area, one studio 6 had a sign that said Call in emergency because they opened at nine and it was maybe six 6:30 AM I called and they said, we open at nine even though it was an emergency I called the Econo Lodge, and they were delightful, saved me and my dog from being out in the elements because we had no car I have severe medical issues I’ve spent two nights here brand new accommodations they just opened a few weeks ago and the prices are extremely welcoming so thank you Econolodge

Great place right off the highway. Accepts pets for free I think. They offer price match which was pretty awesome. The staff goes out of their way to help if you need anything. There's cameras everywhere so felt safe in the parking lot even late at night.

I've been staying here for awhile. At first I thought how run down and crappy it was. But then they started cleaning the place up as far as the people roaming on the outside all night that wasn't staying here. The staff has gotten better and overall the whole place has cleaned up nicely.

Me and my son stay the weekend here and he has special need the worker so so great to him . He can be a handful most of the time with his autism Jessica and the gm tracy was great . They made sure we had everything for our stay . In morn around six am a knock on door it was the house keeper bring him breakfast . They went out of the way for my son made him feel special thanks guys . I will be back

This place it's all right just to expensive but it's ok

I basically spent 1 months at there hotel in Radford Virginia. It is the nastiest place, no room cleaning the whole month, when asked for towels they said they have run out. I asked for a change of sheets and got unfolded and dirty sheets. It is absolutely disgusting and it is nothing but a homeless shelter that charges.

Stayed at the EconoLodge in Virginia Beach Aug 14-16, 2023. My husband called the office at about 11:30 PM on the second night to complain about outrageous banging and stomping from the room above us that was keeping us from sleeping for the second night in a row. He told him it sounded like they were tearing the place apart. The man in the office told him he would call the people. Whether he did or not we don't know because the noise continued until 3AM. I wish we had called the police because the guy at the office did not. We went out that day and came home about 8Pm to find 4 police cars and a coroner's van in the parking lot. Both people in the room above us were dead and had been for hours. We were then kept awake yet another night until 2AM by the forensics people. I feel like if the man at the desk had done his job perhaps 2 deaths could have been avoided. Went we went to the office to check out I asked if we could be compensated for 2 of the days which I thought fair as we payed for a place to sleep and got very little. The man (I believe to be the manager) told me he couldn't give me a refund because we had paid through an online site. He admitted at one point that He had received the payment from the site but still said I would have to get payment from them. We went round and round but got nowhere but really teed off when he actually pulled out a paper and said "let me draw out for you how it is done". I was being treated like I was a total idiot and did not appreciate it one bit! I almost told him to hand me the credit cart machine and I would show him how to do it but I just shut my mouth and walked away.
I just want you all to know this is not a place you want to stay. The woman who first checked us in was nice and the maintenance man as well but the rest of the staff we dealt with seemed heartless, lazy and rude,

This is for Econo lodge Vancouver, WA 601 Broadway st. The 2 night stay (reduced to 1 by my choice) was provided by a local charity

Well it's 8:30 a.m. They told me that there's quiet time from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. seems everyone else didn't get the message. I heard cussing, yelling and doors slamming till 3 am.

There's no coffee maker in the room there's an ashtray but I was told no smoking. The refrigerator is so so, microwave is okay, the remote you have to turn the button on the TV because the remote doesn't do it.

If you're into watching jets take off, one side of the lodge might be interesting. You get to see the planes take off, although you get to hear them take off all the way up until 1:30 a.m. in the morning.

There's train tracks 500 yards away, but that horn sounds like they're on your floor right next door. They have discontinued the free breakfast which they claim to have had and frankly I won't call it a dump (That would insult dumps) but I sure as hell wouldn't be paying a hundred bucks a night for this.

If you don't worry about vandalism, car theft, have earplugs, your own coffee maker and want to know, what's it like being a hobo, this will suit you fine

Honestly, I’d give this place a zero if Trust Pilot gave me the option. Booked a room for my son and his dog who had left Kingston at about 6am and driven hard all day to try and get to Thunder Bay. When he reached Nipigon, the police had closed the highway due to a major collision. He managed to secure a room in Nipigon. I called the hotel immediately to cancel the reservation and was basically told “Too bad, so sad!” I tried to appeal the situation and was flatly denied and the call ended.
I emailed Choice Hotels to complain and hopefully have some support. I was immediately referred back to the hotel as they are “all franchises”.
Looks like I’m out $150.00.
I would recommend to anyone reading this to take the Econo Lodge in Thunder Bay off of their options list and I will do my best to never book anything with Choice Hotels in future and would
highly recommend everyone reading this does the same.

Do not stay! Horrible staff all the way! The only respect I was shown was by the room service lady and the maintenance fellow. I was accused of smoking a cigarette in the room and interrogated like a criminal the first night out of the 3 day stay. I was threatened with a $150 fine which was dropped after I got angry for the false accusation.

We asked for a little extra time to leave once they asked us if we were gone near 30 minutes late after checkout time (we were told we could take our time). We called the front desk to see how much time we could take and I explained my buddy's mental situation. We were told we could have one hour to shower and finish packing. My friend is a homeless Vietnam Veteran and 100% disabled, he has PTSD and a fragile mentality, his comfort animal and I help him with his sanity. It was a hard day for him already so we were trying to hurry and keep him calm. 10 minutes goes by and someone tells us we have 10 minutes to get off the property.

We were rushed and his mental state was screwed up already; they definitely made it worse. They turned my friend's gun into the police which he forgot because of being rushed. My friend went to jail for a warrant that wasn't even in the police records for a case that was dropped in 2018. I was detained just because my name is common and they thought I was somebody else. I was released after verification, we were both publicly humiliated and they stole our property.

I left my laptop cord plugged in and he left a bag of expensive hygiene stuff. We tried to get our stuff back and "they couldn't find it" and we were treated like dim wits. They said "why don't you be more organized the next time stay with us..." Like we'd ever come back.

Terrible situation, my friend is having heart problems now. They're definitely part of the evil people in America, very cruel and this is far from over.

If you are having a hard time, do not stay unless you want to feel suicidal. To even get the false advertised price you have to book the trip through Choice and listen to someone pressure you into booking a trip with Blue Green.

The stay was a total nightmare, beyond a waste of money and definitely took some days off of our life clocks. I can't believe this is a business it's a racket. I've stay in many hotels, I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to deal with that dump.

I booked a room through expedia. Never do that. I was econolodge biltmore Ashville, NC. When I arrived I went to the room and it was disgusting. Dirty linens, dirty furniture, holes in the door and there was construction going on around the building which included the stairs right by our room. I could NOT stay in that filth. They are refusing my rfund and expedia is not helping in any way.

I would give no Star but Trustpilot makes you be nice! I requested and earlier check in because I flight landed middle day and would have nowhere to put my luggage. The request went unanswered and they did not answer the phone. I get her to the rudest person I have ever meet I my life. I don't know how this woman has ot keeps a job with the public but she needs to be fired. I showed up earlier because she said I maybe able to get you a room after 2pm. I ask simple follow up question because I booked a whirl pool room and that cost extra so I wanted to know if that what she meant instead a got she wolf and more attitude than all of the west side of Chicago. I don't even care what the room looks like at this point! I just want people like her to know you don't get reward for bad behavior
