Avoid renting from this company. They will chase you to do this at whatever timetable is good for them around inspections and viewings and then literally hang up on you when you want your deposit money back afterwards.

Their staff are friendly but incompetant, they do not care about anything to do with tenants except collecting rent from them.

If I could give no stars, I would.

We recently bought our house through Edward Mellor. The whole process has been absolutely horrific. It was hard enough to arrange a viewing of a property, but once we were lucky enough to have our offer accepted, we were passed through to the 'sales progression team'.

The Solicitors acting on behalf of the seller took a month to send a contract pack, 3 months to answer an enquiry, and then four months to send an enquiry, which nearly caused the entire chain to collapse. All while blaming my solicitors. Despite raising major issues to the progression team, their lack of urgency and action was astounding. When I tried to get them to contact the solicitors with these issues, or ask for an update, they never knew anything nor tried to push the process on.

Routinely your email would be ignored, the person you needed to speak to would be on another line, or would simply not reply to voicemails. When these issues were raised, you were met with 'I'll call the vender' which to my eyes achieved nothing, assuming they actually did anything.

When you call the office you are ignored or fobbed off in even the most basic of questions. Such as, is it a leasehold or freehold? (never received an answer until a land issue came up in the searches). At one point i was even told not to worry as the property was empty, despite this estate agent's client living in the property still.

Shocking service, I would never recommend anyone to buy or sell from this company. If you look up incompetent in the dictionary, it would read 'Edward Mellor'.

I had Sharon-Ann Ogun based in the Droylsden branch of Edward Mellor as my mortgage advisor for my recent house purchase and no word of a lie she is the best of the best! Sharon-Ann is experienced, professional and most of all the most down to earth and friendliest person I have ever dealt with in any business industry! Buying a house was one of the most stressful experiences of my life and to be honest if it wasn’t for Sharon Ann’s positivity, support and going that extra mile and beyond I would have given up and just gone down the renting route to save the hassle! She explained everything to me from day one, she answered all my questions (and believe me I had many!) with patience and confidence and I knew she had my best interests at heart as her client from day one and she continued to have my best interests at heart and fight for me and my mortgage until the end when I eventually got the keys to my house :-) If you need a mortgage advisor with fire in her belly and a heart of gold go with Sharon-Ann you won’t regret it!

ITS ALL WRONG START TO FINISH. UNDERVALUE PROPERTY AND INTRODUCE THERE CASH BUYING FRIENDS. NO NO NO.

USE A GOOD KNOWN AGENT AND PAY A BIT MORE. No point saving £250 on fees and loosing many thousands on the sale.

I WAS SCAMED WITH SOPHIE MACKASKILL WHO WORKS CLOSELY WITH THEM TO SELL AT UNDERVALUE. My Site sold on Oldham st 750k with there special system. Today half the site is on the market at 1.5 m.

Edward Mellor laugh and say what are you going to do about it. It’s a game to them that they feel is without consequences. They have been getting away with it for years. Total Scam and when I make complaints they threaten to call the Police. The Law should protect the public from such unscrupulous companies.

Disgraceful from start to finish. No communication throughout our sale. Stockport branch needs closing. Never returned calls. Showed no empathy what so ever. They couldn't of been less interested. It was like talking to a brick wall. The only time they contacted me was on the completion day because they wanted their money. Totally disgraceful. Avoid

Would not recommend this estate agent, they did the bare minimum for our house sale. They lose interest once they get the business, poor communication, our sale dragged on for ever then got told last thing on a Wednesday that the buyer wants to move in Friday, the most communication we had was on the last day mithering for the keys every half an hour.

Dealt with Darrio Sinclair throughout the process of purchasing a new home in their Levenshulme branch. Really friendly guy who with excellent service. Aways in contact, followed up discussions/queries as agreed and all round really helpful / informative.

Excellent communication from Frankie,following the progress of the property even before we had an offer.
Keeping us informed when things happen and what will happen next.

Natalie Soutter & team were a really big help when we were in a tricky spot with our sale; she reassured us and kept us up to date the whole way through our viewings and offers. Thank you Natalie.

Used Edward Mellor stalybridge as a buyer, a woman named Stephanie was amazing! Helped me with every query and kept me updated the whole time! She ended up helping me more than the solicitor I was paying for! Can’t thank her and the team enough for going above and beyond

Wow, the Edward Mellor Marple team are ace. Laura is such an asset to this office, her knowledge of the Marple area is impeccable, she is always so friendly and calming on the phone. I have mentioned her a few times to friends and they have all agreed how lovely she is. Lewis is also brilliant, after Laura found me a buyer he negotiated the sale with myself, so confident in his compatibles and ever so professional. He kept in touch with me giving me right-move stats and just kept my anxiety about selling down. Then to Alana in the progression team, she kept me and my solicitor clearly updated in every step, was so informative from beginning to start. These 3 individuals working in the same team are the perfect storm, they work smartly and all speak highly of one another. My husband and i could not thank these 3 enough. Lewis, Laura and Alana- you guys are fab.

Valuer brags about how great EM is as an agent, their sales team are difficult to get hold of and rarely return calls. Slow to get viewings booked in. Sales progression team are diabolical at communicating! I hadn’t heard from my sales progression advisor for 2 & half weeks until i called them the day before my completion. Have to send 2 emails and multiple phone calls to get response. Were rude to our buyers throughout, to the point they hand wrote us a letter apologising!
X2 complaints put in & got a slight reduction in fee. Definitely do not provide the service you pay for!

Edward mellor Denton are underhanded and lie to you. Don't say you're waiting for a electric check on a property (then we could view) then when we rang back, we got told they had emailed us (they didn't) only to rent it out and take it off your website.

You cause the Stress!
this is the second major issue, my full building survey at over £1000 booked in for today at 10am. Surveyor arrives and is denied entry dues to Edward Mellors not telling the occupant. My self and the owner have now taken over from your incompetence and we will do everything now ourselves

Shitest estate agent in Manchester. They may be a big name but they used terrible tactics. Firstly they expect you to bid £20,000 over the guide price and when u are booked in for a viewing, it's like cattle, over 16 people crammed. I made a bid several times, £10,000 over but Edward Mellor only gives to who they want. I checked sold houses after a few months and it was given to someone just £9,000 over the guide prices!
The photos for properties are photo shopped..when you visit it's totally different..AVOID THIS FRAUDALENT estate agent at all costs!!!! All the good reviews are written buy them!

Great service from the Edward Mellor auction team. They were very helpful advising on the particulars of preparing the property for sale and I'm happy with the price achieved at auction

It's the wores estate agent in seen in my life. I bought property and we exchanged contract with out keys...hahaha the estate agent lost the keys .the have to call locksmith to break the lock. What's a such agent. How do respect your vendor and your customers. Where is the trust!!!.I have to put this feedback on Facebook to let people know. How Edward mellor is

I used Edward Mellor Auction to buy a property. Be very careful, as well as charging me Auction fees, they also charged me the sellers fees, which amounted to £5000 extra. This was carefully hidden deep in the small print. Once I had paid they didn't even bother to get the keys to me. I am currently still waiting some 4 weeks later to receive my key. I would avoid them at all costs. btw I don't usually leave reviews unless a company is outstandingly bad.

Thought we would use Edward Mellor because we thought they would be professional and take the strain out of selling the house.
We were told we would have a dedicated team looking after us right through to completion.
That wasn't true.
We had to phone the solicitors and surveyor's to find out what stage they were at, and then phone Edward Mellor to tell them because they were rarely phoning us.
What were we paying all that money for?? We might as well as used an online estate agent.
On the most stressful day, "The moving day" Edward Mellor sent us to a branch that wasn't OPEN to hand in the keys. Talk about a lack of communication, it left my wife in tears.
I've never written a complaining letter in my life but just felt that this had to be said.
