At Essential Designs London, we try to bring the spirit of traditional India into Home Furnishings which keep the handcrafted magic alive but are affordable to everyone to appreciate in their homes. Our products range from up north Kashmir to Western India Rajasthan & Gujarat! We specialise in Kantha bedspreads throws, winter blankets, winter wraps, textile wall decor, sustainable upcycled Silk Kimonos, cushion covers, meditation cushions, handloom rugs, floor cushions. Our company founded in 2008 was a creative edge for Minnie who specialises in Hr & Accounting. The textile enthusiast who was feeling lack of any creative outlet, started small, as it was a tough journey for a person to manage all the ends from production to sales. In 2016, Devika joined as a co-partner to add some vibrancy to the collection. Since 2016, we both manage different ends of the work. We travel thrice a year to India to work closely with artisans. This also allows us to ensure quality standards and also explore all that is new and upcoming. We sit down personally with artisans ensure all the collection is quality checked before reaching the UK. Different artisans are based across Rajasthan in western India. We travel locally spending time at different units, especially the ones in Barmer and Jaipur. Other times of the year we have to rely upon technology which has certainly made it easier to connect with artisans and their specialities. Together, they bring the hard work of the artisans to fruition by making sure that the artisans are fairly paid and have ethical working atmosphere and standards. Our Love for unique Bohemian Spirit can be widely seen in the elements of the products from the collection. We recently launched a limited Clothing segment from up-cycled Sarees to reduce landfills and give way to Slow fashion! We also recently launched the Kashmir segment after coming across a very versatile artisan based in Srinagar. We aim to keep alive the vibe of India world-over and show how our diversity still unites us!

Outstanding service & beautiful items
Outstanding service and beautiful quality products. I bought a block printed kimono robe and pyjamas and they are beautifully made and lovely quantity. The package arrived quickly and well packaged in a box with tissue paper and no plastics. I even received a hand written note and a lovely free fabric facemask! Such a lovely gesture. Glad I bit the bullet and paid a bit more than usual, definitely worth it. Would recommend.

Absolutely brilliant service
Absolutely brilliant service. Everything arrived on time and beautfully packaged in individual fabric bags and including a complimentary face mask and hairband. Excellent communication and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for one off vintage clothing beautifully made with love and care.

The robe I ordered is wonderful, with a beautiful pattern. It arrived beautifully wrapped and inside a matching pouch, that made unpacking it such a joy. With a handwritten card and care details, it truly feels handmade and extra-special. Would definitely buy again.
The only observation I have is that I would love if some robes were longer as I would love one for my sister who is quite tall.

Truly unique and affordable silk pyjamas
I searched high and low for sustainable silk pyjamas that would not break the bank, and I am SO pleased with my set from Essential Designs! It feels very nice and the pattern is just gorgeous. Minnie & Devi shipped my order right away so it arrived earlier than anticipated.

Beautiful pyjamas! The print on both pairs is stunning and really well made. The presentation pouch is lovely and was great as one pair was a gift. Carefully wrapped in tissue and arriving very quickly I was very happy wth the delivery too. Highly recommended!

Great
So far so good. I bought a robe and really liked it. Sent another as a present. It arrived super quick. Great service. Have yet so see how it does in the wash. One small complaint-
I had sent a query for a custom size order but got no reply so far, perhaps are slow in picking up on correspondence?
