Brief but Good Experience

I just had a small one-bedroom apartment to move. They showed up, loaded everything quickly, and we were done in a couple of hours. Not perfect—some boxes were placed in the wrong room—but it wasn’t a huge deal. I’d recommend them if you’re looking for something fast and relatively hassle-free.

I recently used Extra Mile Van Lines…

I recently used Extra Mile Van Lines for my cross-town move, and my experience was fairly decent overall. Scheduling the move was straightforward, and the customer service team was responsive and friendly. They answered all my questions and provided a detailed cost estimate, which was accurate in the end.
On moving day, the team arrived on time and got to work quickly. The movers were professional and handled my items with care, ensuring everything was wrapped and protected. I appreciated their efficiency and focus during the loading process.
However, there were a few hiccups that led to my 3-star rating. One of the movers seemed a bit inexperienced, and there was a slight delay in unloading at my new place due to some confusion about the inventory list. Additionally, a small piece of furniture suffered minor damage, which was disappointing.

Overall, Extra Mile Van Lines offers a solid moving service, and with some minor improvements, they could enhance their client experience. I would consider them again, especially for smaller moves, hoping for a more polished experience in the future.

Avoid This Broker Extramile Valine's

Avoid This Broker Extramile Vanline's – Dishonest Pricing & Rude Service!

I highly regret using this broker for my move. They initially quoted me $1,835 to move a small 12x12 bedroom from Naples, FL to NY, which included a king bed, bunky boards, head and footboard, double dresser, tall dresser, nightstand, mini fridge, TV, 11 boxes, and a hockey bag—all of which were listed in the original quote.

However, on moving day, they suddenly demanded $2,800, an outrageous $1,000+ increase for the same exact inventory! When I refused to pay the unjustified extra charge, they were incredibly rude and unprofessional.

To be fair, the actual moving company they outsourced the job to was professional and handled everything well, but this broker? Absolutely dishonest and unreliable. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable mover instead—this company is nothing but a scam

Melinda, we are sorry that you were not pleased with your experience, but happy that you gave kudos to our carrier. We only work with the best carriers in the business. According to our records, there were more cubic feet at pickup than originally stated. Our manager Derek called with the revised price. As the contract states, the move is based on cubic feet. More cubic feet than originally stated is going to increase the price. In the end, the carrier gave you a substantial discount which you were pleased with. They can’t seem to tell me when my stuff is going to arrive. I keep getting a run around it’s been 11 days now and I’m still without my stuff. I just want my stuff to get delivered. Every time i call they tell me to hold on. And then nothing.

Worst moving company ever !!

Worst moving company ever !!! Stay away from this ZERO own trucks BROKER and do not trust them at all !!! They wasted my time stole my down payment and provided no service at all. The associate named Derek Gum was doing the worst job ever and he did not communicate well I felt like he had 0 years of experience as a moving consultant.

UPDATED: I am not sharing my real name. Please note I canceled the service on my moving date because the employee named Derek did not provide ANY updates on my moving and ghosted me the whole morning, and he insisted that he was in a meeting ??? Can't even reply to my email or text me ???? I was in a rush to find the solution since I needed to move out from my previous apartment, so I ended up using another moving company. Thanks for taking my deposit for the WORSE Service ever !!!

However-When you cancel your move on the day of, you lose your deposit as we have already sent trucks and crew to your location at our cost. This is stated clearly in your contract. Our Dispatch Manager Derek, who has over 30 years experience, was in contact with you and at no time were you "ghosted".

Den we apologize to hear about your moving experience! I have no "Den" in my system. Can you please reply with a name or job number so I can verify you are an actual client and rectify the situation?

This company should NOT be in business. I would give 0 stars if I could. Beware of Extra Mile Van Lines – A Nightmare Moving Experience I cannot emphasize enough how disappointing, stressful, and infuriating my experience with Extra Mile Van Lines has been. From start to finish, their service has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn others. First, the level of professionalism and communication was abysmal. After trusting them with my move, I reached out on December 19, 2024, to formally submit a complaint about their service. I provided a detailed account of the issues, supported by photos of the damage they caused to my belongings and furniture. I have yet to receive a response. This blatant disregard for customer concerns is unacceptable and speaks volumes about their lack of accountability. To make matters worse, this ordeal involved not only Extra Mile Van Lines but also Good Friend Movers LLC (USDOT 3921653) and T&M Family Moving and Storage LLC (USDOT 4093473). Together, they failed to deliver even a semblance of the service they promised. Moving is already stressful, but Extra Mile Van Lines turned it into an emotionally draining ordeal that no one should have to endure. To those considering this company: stay away. I am now escalating my complaint to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and other government agencies to ensure they are held accountable for their actions—or lack thereof. This company is a textbook example of what happens when businesses prioritize profit over customer care. Their silence and inaction in the face of a legitimate complaint is disgraceful. Save yourself the stress, heartache, and financial loss. Choose a moving company that values integrity and customer satisfaction—because Extra Mile Van Lines is not it. THEY HAVE NOT ANSWERED ANY COMMUNICATIONS REGARDING THIS EITHER. DISHONEST, CORRUPT & A BAD BUSINESS!

We apologize your move was not as you would have liked Juliana. A couple of things here: I have reviewed the files from your consistent correspondence with our company. We have a file for every client with all communications. In fact, I am surprised to see this review considering we have texts from you stating that "we are the most amazing company ever and you are going to write us great reviews". I also understand that you attempted to fraudulently reverse the transaction with your bank. However after we submitted all documents detailing our correspondence with you, they did not follow through with the dispute and sided with us. As far as cost changing, yes your move cost did increase. It increased because there was additional space required, and materials needed for these items that we were not made aware of on the estimate. This is in bold letters at the very top of your contract. After a client attempts to fraudulently dispute a transaction, we close the file out. Our communication with you has been constant. We also have submitted copies of your texts and other paperwork to the BBB and they too have sided with Extra Mile Van Lines. This complaint is completely closed and we will be taking no further action.

Don't waste your time

Don't waste your time with them. They're not worth the headache. I didn't bypass them by directly paying the carrier without them telling me to and I definitely tried my best to get in contact with them. But they have been giving me the runaround. First, I was given a dishonest quote. They are a moving broker who uses local moving companies. When the movers came, they charged extra (way above anything we agreed upon). I didn't complain and paid up hoping for good service (and that was a huge mistake on my part). On my original papers, it said that there was a 3-6 day window. I was even told that on the phone and in-person (I even called and they said they deliver on the weekends). Now I've gone over a week without any of my items and no one seems to have an answer. This has been a nightmare and they won't do anything to help. Take it from me, don't use these guys. You'll be paying just as much with other companies anyway. Save yourself the headache and stay away from Extra Mile Van Lines.

Jacob, we strive to give everyone a great move and regret that you feel you did not receive this. Yes we are a moving broker, we don't ever hide this fact. It is stated front and center on our website as well as in the contract that you signed. As with any move, the only way your price increases is if your volume and/or packing needs change. We record all calls with clients and keep careful records of transactions. Once you begin to deal directly with the carrier who moved your belongings, any issue now becomes between you and the carrier. Still, we have reached out to you many times and have acted as liaison between you and the carrier, and will continue to do so.

Don't trust the quote

We called to get a quote for moving across country. We spoke to Heidi, who was only on the phone with us for a few minutes. She asked how many rooms we had, how many bedroom sets, and a couple of other questions about couches, patio furniture, dining room and washer/dryer. The quote was about 4K. She did not ask about a visual survey or provid a checklist. If she had, we would have had a better idea of what we would be paying to move. While we do acknowledge that we had more boxes than we expected, we were never told that we had to put every odd-sized thing we owned into a box (and I mean EVERYTHING had to go in a box per the movers) and we were not asked about pictures/art on the wall or told that we needed to have them wrapped.
While the contract does advise you get a visual survey, it is in the fine print, was listed as "waived" on our contract and never discussed. It is misleading and misguiding. Unfortunately, after our experience, we learned that this scam happens to a lot of people. We had to pay another $7,000 for a total of $11,000 the day of the move.
To make it even worse, the movers on both ends did not have enough people to help them pack and unpack so we rolled up our sleeves to help and even then, items had to be left behind. While the movers were very nice, they needed more than 2 people on each end. Terrible experience.
