Flu Camp Experience
Where to start done just done my first ever flu camp stay and it’s for sure an experience a challenging experience at times. If anyone is thinking about doing it I would definitely recommend for the cash and if you can get holidays from work or you are a student and looking for time to study sign yourself up.
The overall experience was good even though I did get the short straw of one of the rubbish rooms in the QMB with no windows I hear the hotel and the rooms with a window is a much better experience.
Let’s start with the good
* The Money £££ - nearly 4k for 15 days not bad
* Sami - for me the stand out staff member now there is a few other great nurses that were also decent but from the moment I met Sami he couldn’t have been any nicer and chilled out nothing was ever an issue for him he even went on the hunt for my missing parcel and managed to find it which saved a lot of hassle. Tbh every time I seen it was Sami coming in I was actually relieved and buzzing not only took did he take the time
To chat/ be interested about you he was always good at taking the blood / doing the nose washes never felt discomfort etc. finally very knowledgeable about the trial and informative Anyway that’s enough of my love for Sami
* Most of the staff are nice and pleasant and reassuring when doing the tasks that are required daily
The food was pleasantly surprising especially the chicken burger and wedges. Had this most days Recommend. The snacks make sure you ask for the Real crisps survived on these daily. Also Anna the 🧑🍳 amazing woman
*you do get a Tv and PlayStation to keep you entertained still would recommend bringing your Mac and some books
Negatives
Being in one of the rooms in the centre of the Lab is unlucky it’s right next the nurses resulting in hearing and seeing everything which can be off putting with the distracting. Also noisy which is not ideal when trying to nap. Definitely feel all the rooms should be down some sort of corridor away from the staff. Along with the fact the blind is always open with staff being able to see and maybe paranoia but always feel like someone is watching.
* The food being put outside your window when you staving and want some food it’s like being teased along with the fact the food is then cold.
*the need to ask for snacks feel like snacks should just be delivered every day same with sheets and towels. Always felt like you were being a pest asking and when staff are in a hurry doing nose wash’s etc you can tell you have just annoyed some of them by asking which is why I never pressed the bell minus on one occasion when I felt I was about to die from thirst. I’ve never drank so much water in my life in this place would also be ideal if they could do caffeine free drinks like decaffeinated Pepsi max etc if that was possible make it so much easier.
*Cannula day oh man prepare yourself the only bad day I truly had but then I hate blood and the thought of anything being in me. If you ain’t a drama queen you will probs be fine. Be warned should try rest this day as you will be up all night if like my trial blood is required throughout the night.
*wifi some days was a bit funny on their tv especially the first couple of days using it not ideal when the MacBook stopped connecting to their WiFi. Maybe needs a better WiFi put in place
* has to be last negative don’t want to come across like the place was like Hell when it was actually decent. The very small majority of staff that could be slightly rude or had zero interest maybe need to re think Their career and remember people are giving up a period of their time to be locked up with no human interaction and this is their home for 2 weeks. Right Rant over
Overall I would recommend doing the the experience get yourself some cash for a holiday or pay off that debt . I would definitely do again in the future 100% hopefully just in a better room 💸

11 day trail completed
Having just completed a trial and had a week to look back on it, I would recommend doing it to whoever has a reason to do it. All information shared was open and detailed, all members of staff treated me well and in a friendly manner and payment was made within a couple days of each appointment. There were times that communication was a little lacking, but not enough to detract as a whole. Tom Scott chose a decent place to highlight medical trails with!

Have no fear, Flu Camp was great!
Why have flu for free when you can get paid for it? Received a flu virus strain, had barely any symptoms, was looked after well, had vitals checked several times a day, had great food and was paid handsomely. Contrary to popular belief (unwarranted fear), the trials are completely safe - a real no-brainer if you want to earn a little extra cash. Go for it, don't be shy now!

Great experience from start to finish
Great experience from start to finish. The guys in the Manchester clinic were great for the first two screenings. The enrolment team were very helpful also with information leading up to the trial (Sed). The whole team during the trial we informative, accomodating and friendly. All staff and doctors are very attentive to your needs whether that be clinical or comfort. Very friendly aftercare customer service team (Betty) also who follow up with you after the trial has ended. Would recommend 100%.

All in all a positive experience
All in all a positive experience - a very easy way to boost your bank balance.
Positives
*All the communication pre the quarantine was very professional.
*Lovely money
*Nurses are mainly very lovely
*Most of the food good
*Could continue working my normal job with ease.
Negatives
*I didnt really sleep for 2 weeks as the lights were barely ever turned off at night and some of the night nurses were a bit inconsiderate with unnecessary noise middle of the night.
*Sometimes had to ask for basic things like water about 3 times before anyone bothered to bring it.
I wouldn't do again but don't regret doing it - they didn't manage to infect me so didn't get sick at all.

Flucamp was great for what I needed
Flucamp was great for what I needed it for and that was a quick and simple way of raising travel funds. There was some points the communication could’ve been better and the room I was offered wasn’t exactly like the one promised online but it wasn’t too far off.

Finished my 15 day clinical trial...
I recently finished my 15 day clinical trial with FluCamp and was very happy with my stay. All of the staff did a fantastic job at making me feel very accommodated and comfortable throughout. It can be a long time to be isolated in one room depending on the length of trial you have, so I would recommend to anyone to make sure to try and keep yourself busy whilst inside and getting into a bit of a routine. It can become boring after a while so it helps that the room came with a TV, as well as a PlayStation 4 which is great to keep yourself occupied. The food is to a good standard, however would've liked more options (though I understand this would be difficult when catering to so many people). Sometimes the food would arrive later than usual, but I didn't find this too much of an issue as it was always usually within an hour of the time slot given. Staff were incredibly quick should you need assistance, snacks or drinks.
Depending on when you trigger for the flu/cold, there can be a couple of days where you can have slightly interrupted sleep when blood samples are taken. The staff are wary of this, and do their best to not disturb you as much as possible. There are a few busy days and at first can seem quite daunting with all the checkups throughout the day, though it is expected, and after a few days it becomes very much part of your routine.
The financial compensation is very good and I would say it is well worth it. Overall It's an experience I would be happy to do again at some point in the future and very glad I did it.

Exceptional Experience at Flucamp Clinical Trial
I recently participated in a clinical trial at Flucamp and wanted to share my exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable throughout my stay.
The level of respect and professionalism exhibited by the entire team was truly remarkable. Every member of the staff, from the reception to the medical team, was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly kind and attentive to my needs.
I'd like to extend a special mention to Brian and Anna their warmth and dedication to ensuring any needed support and delicious meals made a significant difference during my time at Flucamp. Their kindness and efforts were truly appreciated.
Overall, my experience at Flucamp exceeded my expectations. The facilities were immaculate, the procedures were conducted with precision, and most importantly, the staff created a supportive and caring environment.
I highly recommend Flucamp to anyone considering a clinical trial. The professionalism, respect, and genuine care demonstrated by the entire team, made my stay an exceptional one. Thank you to everyone at Flucamp for their outstanding commitment to participant care and well-being.

I am genuinely impressed…
It was a great experience; from beginning to end. I was happy with how transparent everything was and very informative. And I got to know more about my health.
I will highly recommend it to everyone.

I honestly had the best experience…
I honestly had the best experience during my stay for the trial.
I stayed in a hotel room that had all the necessary comforts: air conditioning, Netflix, PlayStation, bottomless coffee tea and snacks.
Every procedure was explained thoroughly.
The staff was professional and respectful.
A big thank you particularly to nurses Brian and Billy and Anna the chef, who always walked the extra mile with their warmth and friendliness, I appreciated that very much.
The only suggestion that I may have is to try and deliver the food to the inpatients when it’s still hot. I guess that the schedule might not always make it possible, but it would be a huge improvement for the comfort of the participants. Other than that, I highly recommend it and would do it again in the future.

Amazing Experience, worth it!
From start to end this experience was great, very well communicated throughout, always reminded I can leave at any time, always reassured that this whole experiment is perfectly fine, and how multiple people do it multiple times throughout the year. That sold me.
The quarantine experience was decent, decent food, decent nurses, decent blood withdrawal, although one nurse was pretty terrible and needed to try multiple veins, and had the cheek to blame me ha, but overall I'm not fussed, wouldn't detract from the 5 stars. Now that I think back, their admin is abit all over the place, regarding screening, getting through to them on the phone isn't the easiest, but when you do get through any and all questions are answered, so I will definitely be doing this again, and I encourage anyone who is even considering it in the slightest to just do it, the worst they can do is say no, but at least you make a bit of dough for your first visit.

Would 100% recommend
I recently took part in the 10 day clinical trial and in general I thoroughly enjoyed it and would 100% recommend it. The staff were so lovely and made the experience much more enjoyable. The food was good and there was enough choice to ensure it wasn’t too repetitive, although some of the choices just weren’t to my taste. The days were quite busy and it meant you were interrupted quite a lot throughout the day with different tests, however that is expected and the whole process seemed very organised and so I knew what to expect each day and got used to it quickly. Blood tests and dosing took place for me at around midnight, meaning that the lights didn’t go off till past this time, but personally that didn’t bother me. In general, I really enjoyed my stay and the time went much quicker than expected and I would 100% consider doing it again in the future!!

I recently had a 10 day stint at flucamp. The facilities are comfortable, the showers are decent and food is ok but can get a bit repetitive. Snacks are plentiful you just need to ask for refills, same with the drinks.
Due to the timings of the dosing it was a bit disruptive to sleep and meant the lights in the nurses station didn't go off until gone midnight, but the staff did respect your need to rest during the day because of this.
I found all the nurses very friendly and they definitely cared about your welfare.
Good compensation amount as well.
Overall I would definitely be open to doing it again.

Pretty crummy experience all-round!
The food was pretty awful. They weren't any snacks provided, let alone unlimited. The meals would arrive late and cold nore often than not, and the quality was incredibly poor. The entertainment was not what they described. Sure they provide a ps4, but virtually no games worth playing. The staff were incredibly unprofessional, some of them b*tched about the residents within earshot of my door, some of the younger staff were completely unable to take a blood sample from me and kept stabbing randomly into my arms over and over. The more senior staff did it with ease. I felt like I was a glorified pin cushion for their training. If you're subjecting people to this - make sure your staff are adequately trained! On that note they weren't able to keep to their schedules, and as a result most nights I got woken up multiple times to do experiments that they should have done during the day. All in all, it was a s*** experience and not at all what they're peddling in all of their advertising. Think twice before you sign up for this. It's rough going.

Good Clinic, Recommended
Room was comfortable. Staff at clinic were professional and friendly. Staff at call centre were good - generally informative and helpful. Food was good, although chef ignored a few simple requests. Pay was good, if not the best. They did kindly fully reimburse my pre trial blood sample repeat. Standard compensation of £10 and £40 for first and second screenings, respectively, did not cover my costs in transport and accommodation. All screenings happen on a weekday - never at the weekend, so one does have to spend Annual Leave, which is unfortunate. Overall, a very satisfactory clinic. I’m glad I participated in the trial, and I hope to participate in other trials. Recommended.
