Absolutely joke of a company. We have purchased a monthly subscription for listing our business. Payment has been made and taken from our account and yet after our add goes live someone from their end makes it inactive! It’s deliberately malicious. COMMON GUYS IF THIS ISN'T SORTED ASAP WE WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO INSTITUTIONS WHERE IT MATTERS.

I have reported to Action Fraud as money is being taken monthly without permission. Companies House shows this company as 'dissolved'. If you want to also report it in the uk you can do so by visiting the action fraud website and submitting a report. I've been asked to give my company name in thr reply to this review without a way to respond.

I tried adding my sister's business. It's not letting me enter the phone number, it says its not valid. Is it perfectly valid number. but the listing cannot be added because of this glitch.

Happily listed my businesses for free, but now I wish to edit information, they want me to pay £3 per month per business for the privilege. They do not respond to entries via their contact page, or give out phone numbers to talk to them, so they are advertising my businesses incorrectly

You add in all your business information and then they ask you to request a call to verify your listing, but no call ever comes through.
They suggest the other alternative is to verify by pay a £3 monthly fee.
Seems convenient that the verification via phone call method doesn't appear to work for anyone.
A complete sham.

You register, they ask you to claim the listing, you try to confirm your mobile but the code never arrives. Not to worry, you can skip phone verification by paying £3 lol. What a scam.

I think this is absurd.
paying to list my number is not a problem but to verify my number?????
then I tried to use the contact page to let them know directly how I felt but it would not send.
maybe I will be sent something to subscribe to, to be able to contact them

Appalling, truly appalling
Advertise incorrect information about the business then charge a fee to "allow" me to correct it. They created a duplicate listing of my business and I had to pay the same fee to be able to turn it off. Providing nothing for a fee where other such services do it better and for free!

We also had some intermittent issues with SMS verification around this time so apologies if you experienced that.
A Truly Useless, Dysfunctional Business Directory Platform
Central Index is now the backbone for a lot of regional business directories. Avoid like the plague though; no replies to support enquiries, the phone/sms verification deliberately doesn't work forcing you to pay £3 per month, and there is very little value from actually being listed. Save your money and go buy a Starbucks or Costa instead.

Just like everyone else here, these people have taken my business information, The information is not exactly the same as my website says therefor is affecting my google ratings...... they do not call back as stated then request £3 a month to be able to access MY business information to correct it.......
This is a form of blackmail and these scammers are getting away with it

To change a record on the Central Index there is a "report" functionality on every listing that anyone is free to use, we feed these change requests back to our data providers and over time the information is updated by them.

We only expect to charge when phone verification can not be used due to no contact numbers OR when a customer wants to promote extra features on their listing. Unfortunately in your case the verification process did not work it seems.

Application to Strike Off
I've been checking Newspaper Directory listings for a number of my clients. As other reviews mention you can't seem to change or claim them with the listing provider Central Index. After further investigation I can see that Central Index Limited (06002202) have filed a DS01 (Application to Strike Off) with Companies House on 6.1.2023. As the online directory is so vast I would think that the directory will be transferred to another company, possibly one with the same owners.

Received a confirmation email concerning my business listing containing a link to claim ownership. The ownership claim no longer works. Despite inputting the correct telephone number, no four digit verification code is received. What is going on? Why can't we claim and verify our business details anymore?
