It needless embeds itself if all aspects of your computer, making it impossible to undo if you uninstall it without the official remover (which if it overrides that much of the computer, I don't see why they don't just make the remover a part of default uninstaller when you install it in the first place)!!!

The reason I uninstalled it is it didn't block the things I asked it to block. So it's more than likely only functional when you give them money.

I've spent a few separate isolated days, maybe 5 at this point, just to trying undo the damage using Google Gemini. Yesterday I was trapped on a blue startup screen for hours, in shock because every fix the AI suggested was another path blocked and every fix was making the issue worse. And the problem is that Cold Turkey will literally embed itself in the computer's registration keys and rewrite them, which can only be with a reset by uninstalling everything. I've learned registration keys are uniquely built when the computer is first set up and can only be repaired that way. It's the computers foundation. So even though I got out of the blue screen, the result is I need to take inventory of everything I installed and reinstall it-- unsure of what things will just be erased or forgotten altogether.

Why do I have to do this? I cannot open Chrome, Edge, or Discord. More importantly, I cannot install things or download things on my computer anymore.

Also they never replied when I asked them for help directly (months ago). But this software is designed for people that are coding masters that goon at all hours to not even undo. So maybe if you're a severe going addict the software is okay (probably not). But if you're a hobbyist that gets unproductive with hobbies, stay away.

My experience with this software-- It is something I'll badmouth until the end of time along with All My Sons moving Company (they stole a safe) and Nam's Auto Service (my brothers tire fell off while he was driving) in VA.

What I did with those companies is essentially finished all my Face Book posts with "Nam's Auto Service is terrible." Somehow, that ended up being all I needed to do have it come full circle with a stranger telling me "Nam's Auto Service is terrible, I hear that all the time, what show is that from."

Since you, the developer(s) of Cold Turkey thought "Oh, I can just ignore one person." Just to let you know, one person can cause an entire road to shutdown. We actively watch a single guy, the president, change the world as we watch and do nothing about it. Ask yourself this "what happens when this one guy posts in your forums every day for 2-3 years."

I'm don't enact spite often, and I'm hoping I spend the time and energy to enact my spite on Cold Turkey so no one has to have the same experience. Hopefully, I can drop it to below 3 stars because no one gets something below 3 stars. Anything to redirect someone else to a safer blocking option.

This is the best blocker ever. First and foremost, it's a one time purchase, NO SUBSCRIPTIONS! I have tried other blocking apps, and none has came close. This blocks websites across ALL browsers, and so much more. It is COMPLETELY customizeable. I even figured out how to block youtube shorts while keeping the rest of youtube. Most importantly, I have emailed the developer multiple times for help and every, single, time, he has responded within JUST A FEW HOURS. I seriously can't say enough good about it, and I'm so grateful I came across this, it has seriously saved me from hours of time wasting. (I don't have any social media anymore (and no more scrolling!)

I would avoid this product like a plague, when basic features like blocking EXE is paid walled it already tells, you The company who've made this. Don't have your best interest.

This app is amazing. So many features and ways to block workarounds. The fact that it's a one-time payment shows how much the developer cares and makes it accessible for anyone. He always responds very quickly to any problems and gets them fixed as quickly as he can. Any problems I used to have are now fixed, so there isn't really anything negative I can say.

This app has really helped me limit distractions, be more productive, and spend more time offline. As an "elder millennial" it takes me back to a time when tech was not an overwhelming presence in my life. We all know that tech has been designed to keep us engaged and use our own human nature against ourselves. This app has helped me reassert control over technology that was slowly, but surely, taking more and more of my time and attention away from things that truly matter.

The app has many customization features that allow you to "block" websites, apps, and even your entire device. Once you set a block, you can then choose to enable a "lock" on that "block" to prevent yourself from simply disabling the block and then getting right back into whatever distraction. For example, you can set time limits, rewards, allowances, productivity windows, and more.

The various block options are fairly intuitive and come with helpful explanations for how to set them up. There are even some default blocks that you can choose to enable (e.g. social media, news, etc) to help you get started. I've been able to set up blocks on websites (i.e. bye bye doom scrolling social media garbage, wikipedia rabbit holes, etc), apps (i.e. computer games), and even my device (i.e. no more late night gaming marathons during the work week).

Obviously the user still has to commit to implementing these blocks and enabling some powerful lock restrictions to prevent oneself from simply disabling the blocks whenever we want.

That said, I'd encourage folks to ease into it. Create a few blocks for your most distracting apps and then start with modest "locks" to prevent you from disabling the block. You can then strengthen the locks over time and as needed. There will be some fine tuning that you need to do to find the level of restriction that works for you.

The browser extension also has a "quick add" feature that allows you to add websites to existing blocks quite easily. For example, I have a "news" block with a daily time allowance that I keep adding news websites to so that I don't spend to more time on news than my personal time allowance.

I think the cost of the app, a 1-time purchase, to be extremely reasonable (generous?) given we live in the monthly subscription era. Imagine all the time this app may help you reclaim for your life. This app has the potential to become the highest value purchase of your life.

Possible Limitations and Concerns:
1. I almost did not try cold turkey because I kept coming across complaints that it is "too restrictive." But after having used it, I am convinced these people did it to themselves. From what I can tell, it is indeed possible to lock oneself out of one's own device (or websites) for months at a time. However, every single block and lock system is entirely user created. Additionally, the app warns you before you set any lock (long or short). That said, it will let you do that to yourself, if you so chose. That is what makes this device great. Some of us truly struggle with distraction and need to set long restrictions.

That said, to avoid accidentally locking yourself out of something important, start small with less restrictive locks and then fine tune into more restrictive settings, as needed, based on your unique characteristics and needs.

2. At the time of this review, this app only works on PCs. If you have a smartphone (i.e. mini-computer), it is possible that after you enable blocks on your PC, your little monkey brain will bypass those PC blocks by simply accessing those apps/websites on your phone. You will need to invest some time into finding ways to lock down distractions on your phone as well.

3. If you have multiple PCs, you will need to set up cold turkey restrictions on all of your PCs. The restrictions do not sync across devices. This is actually a good thing but also means it takes a little more effort to set up cold turkey blocks. Cold turkey does allow you to set up blocks on one PC and then export/import those locks to another PC. I found setting up the initial blocks on one device and exporting the initial blocks to the secondary device was good enough. At this point, each device has its own blocking system and is getting fine tuned to its unique use case.

Super Software! Gives u any ability to block stuff. Really good engineered. I am not often buying software, but here, it was 1000% worth it.

I needed to reduce my screentime on my PC, and after doing a quick research, I bit the bullet on Cold Turkey. And it's the best decision I've made! A powerful PC Blocker which you can use to block certain websites, or even your entire PC. I've used both those features for time-wasting social media sites, as well as using the 'Device Block' feature to completely shut down my PC at night (to not go on it for too long).

One thing which I'll give feedback is to maybe add a customisation feature to colour your schedule blocks, helps label them better. And I hope the developer makes an app for iPhone & Android phones one day!

Perfect for people who need help to finally get productive on their computer. Not a miracle (I'm very creative when procrastinating) but at least you can't wander aimlessly on social networks anymore.

Annoying and doesn't let me open websites, so it's doing its job.

The premium version also blocks apps and a schedule. Which I personally struggle with, since I usually just open a gaming app and play for hours.

The fact its a one-time payment, shows they do want to help people and not exploiting the fact I have an addiction at least.

Software is useless, can be easily circumvented by launching windows in safe mode and deleting the software folder. Developer would not return money even though he specifies on the website that if the software is not what we expected he would refund.

Brilliant app. Blocks websites AND apps. Free version is brilliant, and paid version is brilliant-er - and absolutely worth the $50 for a lifetime (so that someone else can put a password in and you can't get on certain apps or sites, no matter what you try)! Can bad screen time habits for good.

A really helpful feature is the "Blocks Categories", where you can have lists of websites to block all at once (eg. Games, Social Media, Adult Content, or Sports). They have pre-made ones, and you can customize your own.

Very easy to setup blocks to prevent myslef using distracting apps or websites. I started using it to lock in for exams because I kept procrastinating.

Cold turkey has helped me increase productivity massively

If you are not a dummy, and you can set it up correctly(not hard at all), it becomes one of the best apps on the internet.

Been a user for some time and I love it!
Helps me stay focused and really worth the few $ for the pro version. Especially since it's not a subscription but a one-time purchase for lifetime access. Not at all times without issues but works on almost everything flawlessly. Thank you to the dev. You're a hero
