We purchased a vehicle from them at the end of June 2025 and it has been nothing short of a nightmare ever since. The car has spent more time off the road than on it, with one issue after another and every single repair has been expensive. The list of problems is shocking.

The air conditioning wasn’t working at point of sale. We were told it would be refilled before collection, it wasn’t. We were then told to get it refilled ourselves and that we would be reimbursed. We did exactly that and were never reimbursed. Within four days, it had completely emptied again and that’s when we discovered the unit had a leak. At that point, GK Motors showed no interest and simply told us to go through the warranty.

The wheels were also problematic. They eventually replaced the tyres, but not the actual issue with the wheels themselves and the tyres they fitted were cheap budget replacements, not like-for-like with what was originally on the vehicle.The brakes were in a dangerous condition. The pads were so worn they were effectively welded on and the bleed screws had been rounded off, meaning additional parts had to be replaced just to carry out basic work.

We’ve also had ongoing engine and electrical issues. Oil problems, intermittent starting in cold weather and repeated glow plug faults. We’ve replaced the battery, glow plug module and all 5 glow plugs, only for all 5 glow plugs to fail again due to what is now clearly a serious underlying electrical fault. In total, we’ve spent an additional £4,000–£5,000 on repairs, on top of what we paid for the car and the problems are still ongoing. We also never received proper paperwork for the vehicle. We were told everything would be in the glove box, it wasn’t. The only document we ever received was the V5. No service history, no book pack, nothing. Despite repeatedly chasing, GK Motors have been unable to provide it. That alone speaks volumes about what they likely knew about this vehicle.

The experience with Evolution Warranties has been just as bad. Even with their top cover, we had to fight every step of the way, despite following all their rules. In the end, GK Motors had to step in to help push a claim for the air conditioning unit repaid to us, even though it had already been approved, but only after a huge amount of stress and wasted time. We now have zero confidence in the warranty and wouldn’t use it again.

This has been an extremely stressful, costly and frustrating experience. Do not use GK Motors, definitely do not purchase Evolution Warranties and take your business elsewhere.

Ridiculous quote..unnecessary work.

Took daughters mini in to GK. Left it with them to be told after paying for diagnostic...timing chain / vans unit...£1400 approx. Needed 1 vanos
sensor and 1 spark plug ...cost me less than £40 in total. Extremely disappointing for a local garage.

GK Automotive garage

GK Automotive is one of the few garages i have dealt with and trust. All the vehicles in our household are serviced and repaired here. The staff always explain what is needed and the cost before carrying out any work and are honest and trustworthy. I would recommend this garage without hesitatation.

From initial telephone booking, to collecting my car after its service and MOT, a thoroughly professional, yet friendly service, and reasonably priced. Will definitely use them again.

Highly Recommended!

I was lucky enough to win a car service in a competition with GK Automotive. This I have now redeemed and I would highly recommend giving these guys a go! Very prompt service and very informative.
Social distancing procedures are excellent.
My car is now booked in for its MOT :)

Tim has just dropped off my car after…

Tim has just dropped off my car after its annual visit to GK. I started taking it there after using the main dealer and chain garages for services and finding both wanting.

GK are honest, no sucking through their teeth and shaking their heads. They are transparent, they tell me everything they are doing and why. They listen, my car felt a bit under powered and I said so, they looked for the problem and it was solved as part of the service.

My car will always go to GK and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

GK are a fantastic garage

GK are a fantastic garage! Every MOT or service or repair I need for my car they are fast efficient and get the job done with no issues. Brilliant customer service, well organised business and friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone !

Great service from the chaps at GKAutomotives!

I had an intermittent fault, meaning my car didn’t start on a couple of occasions and when I rang and explained the problem I was told I could drop it straight down to the garage the same day. They quickly diagnosed that I needed a new battery. In the time it took me to drink the cup of tea they made me, they ordered me a new battery which was delivered and fitted. That’s what I call great service!
