I'm writing this review to let others know about GBS; they have some great facilities and also plenty of learning hours. Obviously, as with most of the big institutions, there are some ups and downs. But for those who are keen to learn and develop their skills for a better life, I encourage them to go with GBS.

The great think for me is the flexibility, the support I'm getting from the staff, specially from the lecturers. I'm planning to do the master after finishing my course with GBS.

I am writing this to warn any prospective students considering Global Banking School (GBS) - Norfolk House, Birmingham. I enrolled in the Digital Technologies program in 2023 with high hopes, but it has been a massive disappointment and a waste of time and money.
1. Broken Promises regarding Level 6 Top-up: When I joined, we were explicitly promised that a BSc (Hons) Level 6 Top-up would be implemented by the time we finished Level 5. Not only did this fail to happen, but I have now been left stranded. Because the modules taught at GBS are so poorly structured and "niche," I am struggling to find any reputable university that will accept me for a Top-up year. My credits don’t align properly with either Computing or Cybersecurity standards at other UK institutions, leaving my qualification feeling practically useless for further progression.
2. Poor Academic Standards and Staff Turnover: The quality of teaching is shockingly low. Most lecturers are underprepared, lack industry knowledge, and are unable to explain even basic concepts clearly. It is a known fact among students that all the competent and respected professors have left GBS for universities that actually value staff and students alike. We are left with teachers who simply read from slides without providing any real insight.
3. Total Lack of Support: The administration is disorganized and seems indifferent to the fact that they have ruined our academic pathways. They collect the tuition fees but fail to provide the career progression they use as a selling point during recruitment.
In conclusion GBS is a "degree mill" that over-promises and under-delivers. If you want a degree that is actually recognized and allows you to progress to a full Bachelor’s degree elsewhere, stay away from GBS Birmingham. Go to a real university that respects its students' futures.

Completley wasted my time! Made me go on two days to do tests.I passed. Provided all documents, was told i'd recieve an offer then last minute they refused me. Said I wasn't corresponding which is a lie as I have all emails to prove I was. Complete waste of time!

My experience with GBS has been amazing as a first time student it was daunting and very frustrating getting documents, certificates etc accepted but the student referral department mainly a guy named Conor Clavin made any difficulties easier and went above and beyond to advise and help me along with the process. I am very grateful to him and the whole department. Thank you.

GBS activity discriminate against disabled employees they offered no flexibility, no hybrid working and no reasonable adjustments! There was nowhere to record disability or being a carer, no occ health and a complete lack of duty of care! Do not work for them!

I had a very disappointing and stressful experience with Global Banking School in Birmingham.
I applied, completed the required exams, and submitted all my documents. At first, everything was confirmed as correct. Later, I was told there was an issue because my surname did not match my passport.
I explained that when I moved to the UK, I still had my married passport. After my divorce, I renewed my passport with my maiden name. I contacted the Home Office, and they fully updated my surname and registered my new passport. As soon as this was confirmed, I informed the university.
During this time, I received two phone calls offering me a place, but I was still waiting for the final Home Office confirmation. Once I received it, I contacted the university immediately.
After that, I started receiving repeated emails asking for new share codes. I lost count of how many I sent. Often, I would receive an email saying everything was fine, followed minutes later by another saying there was an error or that my surname had not been updated. This went on every day for over a week.
I checked my UKVI account each time, and everything was correct. I also sent screenshots and Home Office confirmation emails. Despite this, my emails asking for clarification were ignored, and I only received requests for more share codes.
In the end, I received an email saying I had failed the English test and that my place was cancelled. This was extremely upsetting, especially after being offered a place and after resolving all documentation issues.
I cancelled a planned trip to my home country for medical treatment and reorganised my work schedule while waiting for confirmation. Receiving the cancellation email left me emotionally distressed and very frustrated.
This experience showed a lack of clear communication, consistency, and care for applicants. I hope the university reviews how this process is handled so other students do not go through the same situation.

I had a negative experience at GBS as I did not feel adequately supported when I raised a concern about another student’s behaviour. My complaint was not handled to my satisfaction, and I felt unsafe as a result. I hope the university improves its student protection and complaint procedures. I DO NOT RECOMMEND GBS for women. The staff are not prepared to protect us against real threats.

I had the most horrible experience with the college, so I went to apply for the HDN course and on the registration day the guy who was handling could not be bothered to listen to what I was saying rgarding student finance and declined my application and said I would need to apply it and then get back to then, which I did and got sorted.
Because of compasionate grounds due to a personal tragedy Student Finance accepted it, then the other issue was my certificate he needed the other page where it says what qualification I got.
So I have to get in touch with my College explain the situation and they replied to me that only the certificate has been issue no other pages as the certificate itself has all the information GBS is asking, so I forwarded this email to GBS who still confused and not accepting my previous college explanation.
The today I went there as advised to finalise the registration I only needed to bring my passport, I arrived there the lady on the admission was confused with my case didn't know what to do then when to the same guy who interviewed me before, she stayed there for nearly 30 minutes and then come back to say they are basically confused with the qualification I have despite me provide the student finance entitlement letter and my previous college response. Also when asked for the entry requirement I was told I only needed to do assessments that is all, but the lies and misinformation is a big issue at this place.
She then said for me to wait which I did for nearly 45 minutes for the guy to come with another girl who seemed not knowing what is going on, and the attitute was so off I had to repeat myself again he played dumb, when to speak to a manager who said the same he did and I just got pissed of for the waist of my time and money on transport to resolve this.
All the year living in this country never saw such ill mananered people who do not know what they are doing and I would not recommend this place to anyone because they do not operate accordingly.
Hate it the horrible experience, but will stay cleared of this and have report them too.

my personal experience at GBS Manchester has been very different from some of the negative reviews I've seen and I feel it's important to share my side after studying here for two years now. while I can only speak for my own journey, I have found the claims of poor management and low academic standards to be inconsistent with my time here.
from the very beginning, the staff and lecturers have been a huge support. they are highly qualified with PhDs , approachable and have made a genuine effort to help me succeed. I've always felt that my academic progress was their priority, and the level of personalized attention I've received has been a significant factor in my positive experience.

Far the worst experience ever enrolling in this so called university, went for
My interview with my certification one being a level 4 which had nothing to do with what i want to study rather than my employer requirement whilst being in my current job to perform Well in my job it was a “vocational training “ they did not take me initially because of that certificate, I have never taken student finance so they said that because I have a level 4 I won’t qualify for “student finance” so I need to go an look for another uni that would allow me to do year 1 rather than foundation course…. After explaining that it was vocational course I went the next day for another interview and did the test, I have a level 2 English but just because my name on the certificate was missing 2 names that my passport had they made it such a Big deal, I’m probably the most legit student applying I gave them my proof of address, utility bills, council tax, passport, even the certificate had my date of birth and they still hand and issue.
I think there is more to it, as I can’t get my head around this, I said I can provide GP AND payslips if they dont believe me, ( it was like talking to a brick wall)
The people who interview you have no clue about education and certificates, they are robotic and follow probs a scrip.
They made me take 2 days of work unpaid for this shenanigans! 🙄🙄🙄🙄 #scam
I do wish I read the trustpilot reviews before wasting my time this place needs to get investigated!!!! As I can’t see a lot of people expressing their same views as mine.
It’s defo a hide money scam going on!

Absolutely horrible experience!
Went for my initial interview hoping to achieve a superb experience instead ended up crying outside like a child. The admission team (the lady who interviewed me in particular) highly unprofessional, young and not even listening skills whatsoever. I felt very frustrated and intimidated by the fact that they wouldn't even give me an opportunity to learn and succeed but all they cared is financial benefit. There are plenty of decent universities in Leeds with trained staff that can make you feel human being.

A teenager took my interview and instead of an admission interview it was more like a job interview and the guy was keep asking same questions “what skills you gonna achieve” I said I could be data analytics technician but the guy said these are jobs what skills you gonna achieve then I said I only can find out what skills I will achieve once I complete this course but that teenager rejected me. It should be a admission interview where you should ask previous qualifications and education history but I was very disappointed and thinking that if teenagers really can take senior citizens interview like this where they don’t know themselves whether it’s a job interview or it’s an admission process??
and after interview they didn’t bother to inform me what was outcome of interview until I asked myself after a week, I think Govt should investigate whether people really learning something there or people who completed their courses how are they doing after completing their courses.

In my experience, GBS as an employer deserves zero-star rating. I was forced to pick one star only because Trustpilot won't let me provide reviews if without prior rating.
Why zero? GBS did not even inform me of any outcome after I applied for several vacancies advertised at jobs.ac.uk, for which I reasonably assume myself to be overqualified.
They claim to be an ‘award winning higher education provider’. But what award? How?
