For those who are studying the Diploma it is a great help, because the wines are tasted according to the parameters of the wset, not only in terms of descriptors but Jim takes you to develop the quality (with the whys) and whether or not they are suitable for ageing. Jim also gives a lot of advice on how to recognise the grape variety, as well as the region. And it is also immensely helpful for those who want to brush up on tasting techniques and/or calibrate for a job or for pleasure. His courses are excellent, I have only words of recommendation.

Once again, Jim was able to convey his expertise with pinpoint accuracy and organise the tastings in such a way that I was able to compare and differentiate between the fortified wines. A great exam preparation for the tasting part

Jim is an excellent teacher, he was able to help me calibrate and to understand what is expected in the blind tasting exam. He is very capable to work with international students, i am living in Montreal and he was able to find samples available in my market. I strongly recommend him for anyone that wants to pass the tasting D3 exam, with his support i was able to score high points but also to understand blind tasting much better, from different perspectives such as countries , grapes ,regions and quality levels ; this experience for me is more valuable than just passing the exams.

Jim Gore’s class is fabulous. I wish I had discovered his classes earlier in my WSET Diploma journey! I struggled with the fortified wine test failing twice. I was defeated. I took Jim’s class and this time passed with Merit!!! He gave really good tips and doing exercises with writing tasting notes which definitely made me a better taster and better at testing.

I signed up for the online tasting course to see where I'm at in terms of practical skills before deciding whether to enroll in WSET Diploma. I've probably learnt more with Jim than during all my previous courses! Not only is his knowledge impressive, but he's also a lovely, super approachable person on a genuine mission to help his students achieve their potential. The individual feedback Jim provides is comprehensive and very helpful both for passing the exam and for improving one's tasting skills in real life.

Jim and Erica's D3 Theory Online Workshop really helped me prepare for my Diploma Light Wines of the World exam. I came out of the course understanding how different question wordings required different types of answers, and also how to build in knowledge from all parts of Level 3 and Level 4 studies into my answer. Working with fellow students was a great experience. Because of the practice and feedback I came out of my actual exam feeling confident I had answered the questions asked to the best of my ability!

VERY HIGHLY recommended course to ensure success to D3 exam.
Through deep and insider knowledge of the Diploma exam, those classes are exceptional at giving you a very clear and sharp understanding of what the examiners expect from you (which we all agree is sometimes quite nebulous!!!) and at providing you all the right tricks and techniques to answer those questions as precisely as possible in a timely manner.
Extra bonus points for the group studying exercises which helps you to find some great studying buddies whom I kept studying with beyond the course and proved to be of unvaluable help!
And EXTRA EXTRA bonus points for Jim and Erica for being worldclass instructors - great friendly personalities, super passionate, extremely supportive while being super effective and pushing you to do your best!

Excellent course, excellent teachers. Content was well organized, clear, easy to understand. I left with a much better way of approaching the exams, understanding what the examiners were expecting to see, and getting good practice. Jim and Erica were always willing to give additional feedback and advice. The merits I receive I firmly believe were the result of this course.

The D3 theory prep-course with Jim & Erica was the best decision I've made in order to prepare myself for the overwhelming and daunting WSET Diploma D3 theory exam!
Both are awesome educators who help and guide you through a very well structured and organized course!
They give you a guidline on how to actually tackle the exam questions which I've not experienced before.
The group work is super helpful and though I am not so fond of working in groups, I can highly recommend building your study group to keep you on the ball and reach your goal! Helped us tremendously!!!
My conclusion for future students: Sign up and finally pass the D3 - I know I couldn't have done it without this course, the constant help and support of Jim & Erica (even after the course was done) and of course my awesome study buddies!

I had the pleasure of taking Jim's classes in person and online for my D3 of the WSET Diploma. What a revelation! Faced with this behemoth of an exam, I was completely overwhelmed. Jim's approach, teaching style, and explanations were truly reassuring and experience-changing. As a teacher myself, I know a good one when I see one and Jim is simply excellent. I STRONGLY recommend any and all training by Jim Gore - he was critical in my success.

I am sure that I would not have passed the WSET diploma tasting exams without Jim’s expert tuition, guidance and encouragement. It is not just a case of being able to recognise, say, raspberry/strawberry in Pinot Noir. Jim supplied a selection of wines which are designed to show typicity and with the group helped me recognise aromas and flavours. But it is more than that. Jim is brilliant in explaining how to express that, how to follow the SAT and most importantly, how to write a quality assessment and variety/region/country conclusion. Jim’s course is worth every penny.

I am very glad I decided to book the tasting course with Jim. He has great communication skills and also very patient during the online classes. I really enjoyed the classes and also helped me to build my confidence since all my Diploma studies were done via online during covid times. If you are strugling with the Diploma, do a favor to yourself and ask help from Jim. I cannot recommend more GWA.

Jim and Erica’s course is top notch to show you how to get the methods and technics to pass the Diploma. Through their advices and loads of exercises, you acquire the expertise that is required. Thanks to them, I manage to successfully pass the exam. I highly recommend their course to give you the techniques and confidence that will get you through the Diploma mammoth exams!

Jim was an absolutely fantastic teacher for both the theory and tasting elements of D3. He had lots of tips and tricks for revising, as well as invaluable insight into how to approach the exams. He was also on hand to answer questions in the lead up to the exams and gave really helpful feedback on practice questions. My only regret was not doing the whole diploma course with him! You will not regret doing any of his courses - the best investment I made in the lead up to my exams!

Jim Gore is an amazing teacher - very focused, very congenial and an expecting at building confidence in students. In his tasting workshops there were voluminous (and very helpful materials and, with Jim’s insight and focus, this was a wonderful learning experience. For what I got out of the course it was an amazing value

Jim was one of my APP's instructors for the dreaded D3 unit of the WSET Diploma and his guidance was a game changer for me. Not only is he very knowledgeable about wine in general and the WSET requirements in particularly, but he's a really good teacher : clear, precise, patient and reassuring.
His classes were so good that I also enrolled to the Theory Match Fit program he runs with Erica, from Enjoy Discovering Wine.
Match Fit is an excellent online workshop on exam techniques / tips and is based on group work, which is great if you don't have a study group. I found mine with my fellow Match Fit students and sharing the workload was instrumental in my eventual passing D3 at the first attempt.
I would definitely recommend Jim and any classes he teaches. If you're hesitant about the cost that adds to the tuition fees, the sample costs and the travel expenses to your APP, just think of the money and time you'll save from a resit and remember that the studying and exam techniques you'll acquire will last you a lifetime :)

I attended Jim Gore's Diploma D3 tasting workshops earlier this year, and I'm so glad I signed myself up for this - I would not have obtained a Pass with Distinction otherwise!

What I particularly love about Jim's course:
1) Clear and logical delivery of content: Jim provided consistent and logical reasoning linking theory to tasting on the palate, which makes the calibration intuitive and memorable;
2) Enough details, enough to satisfy your curiosity but not overwhelming, striking a balance and making the systematic tasting enjoyable (the SAT can be dull, let's be honest)
3) Innovative approach using groupwork and individual work. Initially I was sceptical about the groupwork element but this turned out to be an extremely useful part as everyone is sharing the knowledge/insights they learned.

I can't thank Jim and my class peers enough, and I highly recommend this course to anyone pursuing the Diploma D3 - whatever grade you're hoping to achieve, you'll likely get a boost from this!

The greatest gift that Global Wine Academy gives is how to navigate the overwhelming amount of information involved in WSET L4 D3. And they do it with kindness. Jim and Erica reveal how to unpick what the examiners require and how best to apply this knowledge to multiple questions. Having gone into the D3 Match Fit course feeling panicky and out of my depth, I came out feeling calm(er) and as if I actually stood a chance of passing the exam. Their teaching methods are excellent and their tips are invaluable. I would highly recommend to anyone sitting the WSET Diploma (or any level) to take their courses.
