Firstly this is the first time I have sold a property via auction and honestly I am very impressed by the whole procedure and even more impressed with the efficiency and courtesy shown by the team at Gordon Brown Law. They (the employees involved) made the whole process easy and straightforward and to me that took away all the stress of having to deal with the whole process.

We recently completed our house sale with Kate as our solicitor, and once again she was absolutely fantastic.

Kate is incredibly professional, responsive, and always on top of everything. Throughout the process, we encountered a number of challenges that were completely outside of our control, but I always had complete confidence that Kate was doing everything possible from our side to keep things moving. She was proactive, thorough, and always one step ahead.

What really stood out was the exceptional level of communication and support. Questions were answered promptly, updates were provided regularly, and we always felt reassured that matters were being handled effectively.

Even when Kate was on holiday, her team seamlessly stepped in and provided exactly the same high standard of service. It was clear that customer care and professionalism run throughout the whole team, which gave us great peace of mind during what can be a very stressful process.

Kate and her team were an absolute pleasure to work with, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Thank you for all your hard work, dedication, and support in helping us get over the finish line. Five stars very well deserved.

I had a great experience with Lee Patterson throughout the purchase of my first property. As a first time buyer, the process felt complicated at times, but Lee made everything much easier by clearly explaining each step, keeping me informed, and always being helpful, professional and patient.

Excellent service from Gordon Brown Law. They helped us deal with a particularly unhelpful third party solicitor and kept us informed and pushed the buyer’s solicitor every time they tried to delay. Really good service from Cara and Alex.

We used Gordon Brown Law to sell our property, which I think we received a pretty standard service. However, during the sale of our property a pretty major boundary issue was uncovered, which resulted in us having to use their services to help rectify this with land registry. This is where the 5 star review comes from. Claire Keers was tasked with rectifying this major boundary issue, and what can I say! Easy to contact, friendly and approachable. Kept us well informed and if a query was raised it was dealt with that very same day. We honestly cannot thank her enough, as without her help, support and speedy service. The sale of our property would have undoubtedly fell through.

The staff as well as the service is very professional in every sense and their work ethics is very satisfying.

I had hoped their price was low because they appeared modern and efficient. You need to spend time filling multiple online forms and getting your information together in digital form. You think all this will speed things up! Sadly, progress after that was embarrassingly slow and communication was difficult. If we eventually got a representative at the switchboard to answer the phone they would try to avoid giving you direct contact with their conveyancer. Often we were given incorrect information by the switchboard which led to a lack of trust. The app is hardly ever updated so you cannot use it to track progress. Our conveyancer may have been inexperienced, overworked or under stress but she was not reliable and very slow. The problems were many, but the fact that communication was so poor was not her fault.
The final nail in the coffin is that we have just received the Land Registry update without all the agreed changes being made and Gordon Brown are not receiving our emails to address the issue.
The fact that this company has a good Trustpilot rating makes me wonder about its reliability. Presumably Gordon Brown requests reviews from clients who are likely to give a good one. Be careful when reading Trustpilot reviews and be careful of this company.

Excellent experience buying and selling property through Gordon Brown Law. Sara Thompson was fantastic and responded so quickly to every query that we had. We have moved three times in the last few years but this was by far the best service we have had from conveyancers. Would definitely recommend.

Throughout a house sale and a house purchase, Emily at GBL was the one person that could be relied upon to do her job. Never had to chase, she had already done the chasing for me. It was refreshing and wonderful during a very difficult time in my life.

Cara at Gordon Brown did an excellent job on the sale of my house. The app they use is excellent for uploading all the information and paperwork, and the entire process was a smooth as it could be. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Gordon Brown Law again in the future and Cara kept me updated at each stage. Thankyou so much Cara

Really poor experience , carried out the conveyancing on my sale.

Poor communication throughout the process , also charged more than they said.

I chose them because pattisons my agent recommended then, was quoted 1012.00 actually charged 1400

As a first time buyer navigating this process it can be very daunting. My dedicated solicitor has been patient, communicative and there every step of the way to successful exchange and completion.

Cannot say enough about how good the process was for selling and buying our new house. From the start i was informed about the procedure. I was kept messaged with information. When any problems arose these where quickly sorted out and the process kept rolling along. My focal point was Mehreen Ali. Her team worked very tirelessly and quickly to answer any questions i may have asked. I popped in a few times to drop paperwork off and i was seen straight away no unnecessary waiting to see anyone. Paper work was sent to me and quickly processed. All in all a very happy final outcome. I can strongly recommend Gordon Brown Law for the service i received.

Had an absolutely appalling experience with our conveyancer. As first-time buyers purchasing a chain-free property, we expected the process to be relatively straightforward, but the service we received was incredibly disappointing.

The lack of communication was unacceptable. My emails were often ignored, and I regularly had to chase for updates by telephone, only to be put through to someone other than my conveyancer. Apart from the initial introductory phone call, I never spoke to my conveyancer directly.

Weeks would pass with little or no apparent progress, and things only seemed to move forward after I raised my concerns and expressed my disappointment. On more than one occasion, I received updates about our mortgage from the seller's solicitor before hearing anything from Gordon Brown.

Just days before completion, I was suddenly asked to provide several more months' worth of bank statements, and the seller was asked questions about the property that should have been raised much earlier in the process. This created unnecessary stress and delays.

By some miracle, we managed to complete. Ironically, communication and progress actually seemed to improve while our conveyancer was on annual leave during the week of completion.

Overall, the experience was frustrating, stressful, and far below the standard I expected. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I would avoid at all costs. My mortgage broker encouraged me to use GB because they got commission and I chose them because of the recommendation’ and a fairly competitive price. In the long run it cost me much more in delays and unnecessary extra expenses. Communication is a real problem, updates are vague and inconsistent and often contradictory. My conveyancer was away at times, I wasn’t informed up front, when I contacted, was told her work was being covered, but it blatantly wasn’t. I needed and asked for help and advice completing paperwork and got none, which also compounded issues. The app looked good but doesn’t get updated so becomes useless. When important documents were sent to GB, instead of being instantly acknowledged and assimilated we had to wait days for a ‘meeting’ between my conveyancer and another team. Too many different teams doing different parts of the work causing confusion and delays along the way. And overall lack of empathy or urgency. Other solicitors in the chain also reported concerns about communication.
