Probably the worst train company I’ve…

Probably the worst train company I’ve ever dealt with.
Delay repay is a scam. I’ve given them screenshot of my e-tickets, including reference code and they have the audacity to tell methat I haven’t sent them a copy of the ticket.
I’d rather walk or take my car than use you. Despicable.

Bad²

Well. Without a doubt the rudest and the most patronizing customer service one can experience.
Communication skills are non-existent. Was halted and questioned by very aggressive man in charge while approaching Stansted airport bus station which is otherwise a well run hub.

Paid train fares my whole life to be treated like dirt from an honest mistake

Paid train fares my whole life. Made one mistake with my ticket. Paid the correct fare before leaving the platform, and then told I was travelling without a valid ticket. Appealed twice, basically told to **** off.

Well out of complete disrespect to an honest person you've now lost a customer. I will easily recoup the £50 fine you are issuing me by not using your services and driving instead.

A big fat 0 rating

If there was a big fat zero rating option I would gladly give it to them.

My daughter was catching the train to college for the first time. She tapped a debit card and halfway through her journey she was approached by a ticket officer informing her that tapping a debit card on this specific route is not an option thus told her to purchase the correct ticket for £8.60 which she gladly did there and then, thereafter on the spot he issues her a £100 fine. She was stressed and over whelmed by this whole experience. The next day she noticed she was charged an extra £15 for not tapping out where she started her journey. The ticket officer didn’t even have the decency to explain this to her on the day she was issued the fine. We appealed the fine along with the additional £15 charged but of course with no surprise it was declined. Absolute bullies.

Awful bus replacement

They must have brought in the cheapest and worst coaches going from Ipswich to Colchester and back. All passengers suffered awful conditions, very uncomfortable without Aircon or windows open with us all telling the driver there was no air back there for us + toilet was out of order. Will be avoiding using them wherever possible, truly awful experience.

Greater Anglia Penalty Fare system is…

Greater Anglia Penalty Fare system is not fit for purpose. The penalty fare letter arrived AFTER the 14 day window had already expired (the letter was dated 12th August but only arrived 28th August). This meant that the fee had increased from £100 to £185. The letter also informed me that my case would be passed on to Prosecutions after the 14 day window had passed. I paid the excessive fee and wrote an email to both Greater Anglia and the company ITAL to inform them that the letter with the penalty ARRIVED AFTER THE 14 DAY window had expired and that I had paid the fee. I wanted reassurance that my fee payment was acknowledged and prosecution would not be pursued. A month later in mid-September I received a letter dated 28th August informing me that since I had not paid the penalty fare I was now being prosecuted. I then phoned a number charged at 13p a minute to try and get this thing sorted. I briefly spoke to someone letting them know about THEIR MISTAKE and shortly after FINALLY got a response to my initial email I had sent them back in July, this informed me that they had closed my case. I replied to this 'case closed' email asking them to confirm that I would not be prosecuted. A week later I received an email saying that the case was still with their Prosecutions department and that I must email them to clarify that the Penalty had been paid. In other words I had to communicate between their different departments about THEIR MISTAKE. Needless to say this has been very distressing from start to finish. 1. Receiving the penalty notice AFTER the 14 day window. 2. Their failure to acknowledge the payments had been made, nor to respond to my emails. 3. The costs to call them since they do not respond via email. 4. The subsequent letter and mistaken prosecution proceedings. 4. The failure to let the prosecutions department know that the case had been dropped. It cannot be right that these private companies threaten to take people to court for such minor infractions, when they cannot get their penalty letters to people on time, and when they fail to acknowledge payments that have been made but instead press for prosecution. This has been incredibly distressing for me

Run by criminals

Run by criminals, and procedures written by a 5 year old.
Accepted a fine for forgetting to purchase my online ticket, wanted to pay the fine at the platform as well as my ticket, but was told I couldnt. Shergar and his mate said I had to wait for a letter and that would advise how to pay. This was rubbish, they stopped me from having the opportunity to pay the £50 fine, and was forced to pay £100 as I missed out on the 14 day period. No paperwork given at the track side. Did appeal, but as GA are self regulating, it got dismissed. Shergar and his +1 wouldnt give their names and got aggressive. Im a regular at the station and waiting for these 2 clowns to return so they could be officially reported. GA apparently dont have footage of their CCTV body cam.

Scammers' methods

They open the gate to you to get in the train, they they charge you penalty 3 times above the ticket cost when you get out. The reason that is to pay with mobile is not acceptable!!, what a fraud!

Very poor first class experience

The train was clean and ran on time. Staff were friendly. However, having paid quite a bit for an upgrade to first class, I was disappointed to note that there was no food, nor any service to table. You have to leave your belongings behind (difficult if you are a solo business traveller as I am) and go to the catering car where you can have free tea and biscuits and that is it. No free food or wine (those have to be paid for). This was not at all what I expected and left me in a difficult position as there were only horrible rolls and no gluten free offerings. I travelled home in standard class on the way back as I was with a colleague and there was no measurable difference in comfort or amenities. First class on the London to Norwich line is not worth it. Save your cash.

Car park poorly signposted. Station customer service great.

Arrived at the station to find the signage for parking was terrible. Unsure if I parked in correct area, searched car park, looked at 2 signs but neither told me how to pay.
Went straight to the ticket office to collect my tickets and asked how to pay for parking. I was told I get 20 minutes free parking.
On return to my car I saw a sign pointing towards where I had parked.

The station assistant was very helpful, after a very stressful morning on the phone to Trainline. She printed the timetables for my journey upon my request.

Extortion at its best.

First time booking a train ticket for Greater Anglia and did not know I booked the wrong open return ticket until I came back.

Staff at Liverpool Street station treated me like a criminal that I have committed an offense. Points at the penalty fare board and raises his voice telling me to pay up.

When I tried to speak he asks me to listen to him never letting me say anything. Kept on telling me to pay up. What is wrong with this attitude? I bought the tickets, IVE BOUGHT TICKETS BUT JUST MADE A MISTAKE AND HOLDING ME HOSTAGE TO PAY A PENALTY FEE?

Is this how the company educate the staffs? To extort money? Pushing the cash machine towards your customers? Shutting their mouths and raising your voice at them? Threatening them to pay up or face a bigger problem?

At the very least LISTEN to your customers first before you try to extort the money. Of course it is my fault for not fully checking my ticket details but the way you treat customers should never be this way.

Even while I was held by the staff I could see people crossing the gate without scanning their tickets. Why just me? Do I look like an easy target or are you just racist?

Please treat people with respect.

Superb customer service

If others have found the service wanting, I have just had completely the opposite experience. On a return train journey from Norwich to Brundall, I experienced train travel as I believe it should be. Local, relatively frequent with tidy/clean stations and trains. In both directions the conductor/ticket collector was clearly young, but mature in attitude, charming, informed and one chap specifically asked a disabled traveller whether she needed assistance exiting the train without needing to be prompted by the woman herself. Staff in the station were similarly helpful, smiling and welcoming. Please continue to do what you do well. Thank you.

I would give 0 if there is an option.

I would give 0 if there is an option.
I got fined in April and they didn't send out a letter until Aug which I emailed multiple time and checked, I was on holiday in Aug did not managed to pay the fine with in 14 days which they apply another 75 pounds on to the fine. I have attached my flight tickets to say I was not in the country, their customer service working like a robot and told me I didn't tell the inspector back in Apr that I would be on holiday in Aug, so they wouldn't remove the extra 75 pound fine.
