GuestCharge lets holiday accommodation owners offer electric vehicle charging that guests pay for themselves. Guests scan a QR code at the charger, pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, and start charging. There is no app to download and no account for the guest to create. The host sets a price per kilowatt hour and receives payouts automatically, with payments handled by Stripe. GuestCharge was built for holiday lets, cottages, B&Bs, guest houses, serviced accommodation and small hotels: places where the owner wants to offer EV charging without absorbing the electricity cost into the nightly rate, guessing at a flat fee, or policing extension leads run from a kitchen window. Guests are billed for exactly what they use, and owners can see every charging session in their dashboard. The platform is hardware agnostic. It connects to EV chargers over OCPP, the open standard supported by most modern charge points, and we publish free step-by-step setup guides for more than 25 charger brands, including myenergi Zappi, Easee, Wallbox, CordEV, SyncEV and EO. For most brands, connecting an existing charger is a settings change that takes 15 to 30 minutes, with no electrician required. If you get stuck, setup help by email or over the phone is free, and support comes directly from the founders at team@guestcharge.co. There are no monthly fees and nothing to pay up front. GuestCharge takes a platform fee on guest charging revenue only, so owners pay nothing until guests start charging. Takes all the hassle out of EV charging for guests

Before using GuestCharge, we just offered EV charging free to guests because there wasn’t a simple way of charging for it without awkward conversations or chasing payments afterwards.

Since installing it, it’s been completely hassle-free. Guests scan the QR code, pay themselves, and the money just arrives in my bank account a day or so later. I’ve had several charging sessions now and every payment has come through exactly as expected.

The app is easy to use and lets me see each charging session, how much electricity was used and what the guest paid. I also suggested having different day and night charging rates and, to my surprise, that feature appeared a few days later. It’s nice to see a company that actually listens to feedback.

Overall, it’s just taken away one more thing to think about when hosting. It does exactly what I wanted it to do, and I’ve been really pleased with it.

Easiest guest charging system for holiday lets

As a single holiday letter, I can't recommend GuestCharge highly enough. The set up process is genuinely as simple as the company says. I had tried one of the larger providers first but after hours attempting to get their system to work gave up. I can also vouch for the extraordinary responsiveness of the GuestCharge customer service, as I needed help reversing out of the previous provider before moving to them, and they held my hand through this process completely. I realise they are in an early phase of their business, but if you are holiday letting your own property, I would not look anywhere else.
