I am extremely disappointed with the delivery and assembly service I received from Harvey Norman.

Before purchasing, I discussed the additional service charges with the sales representative and specifically confirmed that my new furniture would be delivered, assembled, and placed in my bedroom. This was the basis on which I agreed to pay the extra fees. I paid €49 for delivery, €60 for assembly, €49 for the removal of my old bed, and €30 for the removal of two bedside lockers. In total, I paid an additional €188 for these services.

To make the delivery as straightforward as possible, I dismantled all of my existing bedroom furniture in advance and had everything downstairs before the delivery team arrived. I did this to ensure there would be no delays or inconvenience and that everything was ready for the agreed removal and installation.

The delivery consisted of a solid wood bed, two solid wood bedside tables, and a solid wood chest of drawers. Despite this, only one delivery person arrived for what was clearly a two-person job, especially in a three-storey house. To make matters worse, the delivery was around three hours late; they told me the time was beyond my control.

During the delivery, the driver told me he was "doing me a favour" by delivering my furniture quickly. I found this very surprising, as I had no input into the delivery date or time. Harvey Norman scheduled the delivery, not me.

The driver was reluctant to bring all of the furniture upstairs and initially stated that he would only take the bed. It was only after I contacted the store to complain that arrangements were made for the furniture to be placed in the bedroom as originally agreed. Even then, I still had to help carry the heavy furniture upstairs because only one delivery person had been sent. That is exactly what I paid the additional €188 to avoid.

To make matters worse, I discovered that the foot of the bed was damaged on arrival. After paying for what was meant to be a premium delivery and assembly service, I expected my furniture to arrive in good condition and to be assembled without me having to be involved in the heavy lifting.

I was also concerned from a health and safety perspective. Sending one person to deliver and assemble several large, solid wood items should never be for safety reasons.

Following my complaint, I was told that a replacement footboard for the bed would be delivered tomorrow. I appreciate that this has been arranged promptly, and I hope it goes smoothly. However, given everything that has happened, I will reserve judgment until the issue has been fully resolved.

Overall, I paid for delivery, assembly, and removal of my old furniture, yet I received a late delivery, inadequate staffing, damaged furniture, and had to do part of the lifting myself. The agreed service was only honoured after I complained to the store. This experience fell well below the standard I expected for paying additional charges.

On the day of the delivery, Paul and Dylan contacted me early in the morning to give me an estimate of the delivery time and then followed up with a call 10/15 minutes before they were due to arrive. They set up the furniture, talked me through the operation and removed all the packaging. A very professional service from start to finish!

Extremely helpful salesman, Brian, lots of good quality products to choose from and many of them in stock or with short lead times. Great services offered including refundable/transferable deposit and change of mind on products as well as assembly.

I went to your store last Sunday morning to buy dining chairs.i had been before but could not make the right decision , A lovely person by the name of Angel assisted me . She could not have being a more professional assistant. She put every chair with different tables carrying them from one place to another, just as I was going to finish the sale I got a phone call from another store to tell me the matching chairs has now come into stock. I just felt I needed to high light that there is still some people that are very good at dealing with customers

They fixed the furniture. There was problem with recliner opening mechanism which they took the video and send it Harvey Norman.
I am really pleased with their service and professionalism.

Having been given a date and broad window for delivery, the driver called to provide and 2 hour window. The 2 men arrived on time, quickly and carefully brought in the appliances before taking away the old appliances. Very pleasant, they took less than 10 mins.

Delivery was rushed. 3 deliver’s swarming the house to get in and out as quick as possible. I paid for assembly of the table I bought. A waste of money. Have to re-organise for them to come back out to assess the terrible job and fix it. More of my time wasted now.

Absolutely disgraceful customer service from Harvey Norman. This has been, without question, the worst retail experience I’ve ever had.

I spent almost €4,000 on a sofa after a member of staff sat down with my house plans, measured everything, and assured me the sofa would fit. My receipt even states “ROOM SIZE AND ACCESS DISCUSSED.” I trusted the advice of someone who was supposed to know what they were doing.

Delivery day arrived, and surprise—the sofa didn’t fit. Not because I measured incorrectly, but because your employee gave me completely wrong advice.

Instead of immediately taking responsibility for a mistake that was entirely your own, I was told I would have to pay an extra €550 to get the correct sofa. After spending thousands of euro, I was expected to pay even more because of Harvey Norman’s error. That is unbelievable.

It somehow got even worse.

I was told the replacement sofa would be ordered, so I waited. Days passed with no updates. Phone calls went unanswered or nobody seemed to know what was happening. I eventually drove all the way from Wicklow to the store, only to be told that the staff member who had been dealing with my order had left the company—and, incredibly, my replacement sofa had never even been ordered. Nobody bothered to contact me. Nobody apologised in advance. Nobody took ownership. If I hadn’t gone to the store myself, I’d probably still be waiting.

The lack of communication, organisation, and accountability was shocking from start to finish. I spent weeks chasing something that should have been dealt with immediately. As the customer, I was left doing all the work to fix a problem that Harvey Norman created.

Yes, the issue was eventually resolved, but only after unnecessary stress, wasted time, countless phone calls, and a complete lack of care for a customer who had just spent thousands of euro.

Harvey Norman loves to advertise premium products and premium service. My experience was the exact opposite. Once they have your money, you’re left to fight for basic customer service.

I will never shop with Harvey Norman again, and I would strongly encourage anyone making a large purchase to think very carefully before trusting the advice given in-store. Spending thousands of euro should come with professionalism and accountability. Sadly, neither was on display here.
