Ok so two of my sons have learned to drive with Lance (so far) over the last few months. My youngest son passed first time with zero faults!! My oldest son passed with only one fault! This is testament to Lance’s excellent teaching and not only that, he’s a truly excellent guy too! I’m recommending Lance to everyone I know! Thanks so much Lance - our middle son still to go so get ready for the hat trick!!

Passed my test first try with the help of herne hill driving school instructors.

Lance was the best driving instructor I could have hoped for. Not only was he a brilliant teacher, but he made me feel comfortable at all times. He was also very fun to spend time with during lessons. All of this means will built a good relationship which only enhanced my ability to learn from him and as a result I passed first time with 0 faults.

I couldn’t recommend Gary highly enough. I had a bad accident and, as a result, hadn’t driven for 10 years, so I was understandably very nervous about getting back behind the wheel. Gary was fantastic from the very first lesson and quickly helped rebuild my confidence.

He was patient, reassuring and encouraging (and funny), but also very focused and efficient. He never wasted any time during lessons, immediately got me back on the road, leaving no room for me to get too nervous or overthink anything, which was perfect for me.
He tailored lessons to exactly what I needed to work on, which meant I made progress quickly without feeling pressured. He was also always punctual and reliable, which made the whole experience even easier. Also, offering lessons 7am - 9am meant I could easily fit lessons around my busy job.

Thanks to Gary, I now feel confident and comfortable driving again, something I genuinely wasn’t sure I would ever feel after my accident. In addition to calming my nerves, he’s also made me a better driver! I’m so glad I chose him for my refresher lessons and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn, is nervous about getting back on the road or simply wants to improve their driving.

I started driving lessons with Gary with no prior driving experience, he was very patient throughout our journey together from back roads to main roads and then to test routes. Gary doesn’t just teach you to drive, he teaches you to drive well with skills that will make you a safe confident and skilled road user, looking forward to motorway lessons with him!

Reached out to a couple of local driving schools and Herne Hill Driving School (Gary specifically) got back to me so quickly to book me in for a refresher driving lesson. I communicated that I was super apprehensive having not driven at all since passing my test 4 years ago but Gary was incredibly reassuring and confident about getting me back on the road ASAP. Booked in for a 3 hour lesson and was back on the road in no time driving around South London covering a massive range of all the skills that I needed to brush up on. I can't speak highly enough about how effective an instructor Gary was and also how seamless the booking process was. I've booked in for one more 3 hour lesson to get some motorway experience and then I should be up and running! Thanks so much, Gary!

I had my lessons around the tooting area with Anita. And today passed my test!! I can't believe ive finally passed. And id like to thank Anita for all her patience and kindness throughout the journey. Couldnt have done it without her

My daughter has just passed her test with Clive! He was a brilliant teacher, really cared about his job and very passionate. He invested a lot of energy into his job and was very responsive on messages to set up lessons. Emily became a very confident and capable driver under his tuition and we are delighted she has now passed!

I told Muhammed I was nervous, that it was my first ever driving lesson, and that my only previous experience driving with an ex had ended with me in tears. We were parked up while he explained the basics of the car. He explained things clearly and I liked his teaching style overall, even if some of his analogies didn’t quite land.

However, while explaining the parking brake, he suddenly stopped and asked, “Can I just ask, are you on medication?” I was really taken aback and asked why. He said it was because of the way I was acting and answering questions. He then changed his explanation and said it was something he had to ask before a lesson, even though we were already about 20 minutes into it.

As someone who had already explained that I was anxious, this comment completely knocked my confidence. I decided I didn’t want to continue learning with him. To his credit, he refunded me immediately.

What disappointed me most was his response afterwards. Rather than acknowledging why the question might have upset me or apologising, he repeatedly said, “It’s not personal.” From my perspective, it felt personal because he had specifically linked the question to my behaviour. I suggested that if he genuinely needs to ask questions like this, they should be asked before the lesson begins and explained sensitively. He didn’t really engage with that feedback.

He made me feel comfortable always gave me confidence and made sure I will pass and also applied pressure when it was needed I am overly happy thank you for everything

If I could give 0 starts I would. I have never come across anything like this. The Instructors name is HARISH. We will be taking this u with DVSA If nothing is done about this, I have sent a formal letter of complaint.

I am extremely disappointed and concerned by the conduct of one of the instructors at this driving school.
During a recent lesson with my daughter, the instructor shouted at a learner while she was visibly upset, saying things such as, “Why are you crying?” and “Think about how you’re making me look.” This is completely unacceptable and deeply unprofessional. This is not an isolated incident he has been degrading through out. The only reason lessons were carried on is because this was prepaid.
The learner also asked to pull over because she was distressed, but the instructor refused. A learner driver should never be made to continue driving while upset, overwhelmed, or feeling unsafe. That raises serious safety concerns.
Driving lessons should be calm, supportive, and professional. People do not learn through intimidation, shouting, humiliation, or pressure. This kind of behaviour can seriously damage someone’s confidence, especially when they are already in a vulnerable position as a learner.
Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending this driving school unless they take proper action to review the instructor’s conduct and ensure this does not happen to another learner.

After failing my first test in Lincoln and stopping driving lessons for half a year I thought I would reach out and find driving lessons again I got referred to Clive who has been an instructor like none I’ve ever had before, he's like a friend but with all the experience you need to pass your test, im quite a nervous person and with him he was able to calm me down, play some music more chill vibes and even on the day of my test I was worried and he calmed me down, I managed to pass my test today and with only having around a month of consistently doing lessons again, he's the best instructor i’ve ever had and a great person more than willing to compromise with time and managed to help me pass couldn't recommend him enough

I started back to lessons with a lot less confidence so thank you Clive for helping me build it back up and pass!

Lance was calm and encouraging! I had a lovely experience, he took me from being a very nervous driver to having a lot more confidence and even passing first time. Could not recommend him more!

The technique of the teaching the patient of my Instructor also the knowledge the experience he’s given me is for life that’s why I’m giving 5* he is truly very good Instructor he made me comfortable every time I have a lesson.

From my first lesson until I passed my test, Mo struck the perfect balance between being incredibly knowledgeable and exceptionally patient. His expertise is clear in the way he explains things: with great clarity, great attention to detail, and tailored to you, so everything really clicks. No question ever felt too small or too repetitive, and Mo always took the time to make sure I understood not just what to do, but why.

What I think sets Mo apart though, is his patience. He created a calm and supportive environment where things never felt overwhelming. He is endlessly encouraging and genuinely cares about your progress, confidence, and enjoyment of learning to drive.

Mo also doesn't just teach you how to pass a driving test, he teaches you how to be a safe, thoughtful, and capable driver. He also really understands how to support learners through the process of learning a new skill like driving, while helping you feel confident and prepared for your exam.

His teaching goes beyond the technical side of driving; he helps you build confidence, manage nerves, and trust your own ability. He also empowers you in your learning by involving you in lessons, asking what you want to focus on, and making sure you recognise and celebrate your progress.

On top of all of that, Mo is kind, funny, and makes every lesson enjoyable. I always felt at ease, and came away from lessons smiling, which says a lot about the experience he creates.

I am incredibly grateful for Mo's guidance and support throughout the whole process, and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone learning to drive.

I had Bernard as my driving instructor and he was simply excellent. He taught me at a good pace and supported me through driving areas that I found challenging. Through his excellent teaching I successfully passed my test first time back in Jan 2026
