Recently completed the Unreal Engine Bootcamp and loved every bit of it. The training was clear, well-structured, and the team's hands-on support when I got stuck made a huge difference. They've even... Ver más

Disappointing - Game Engine Bootcamp
I went into the course under the assumption it was meant for varying levels of experience, however, if you like me have used Unity before I would not recommend it. I completed 1 out of 3 months of the boot camp however the level of the course felt like it would be appropriate for beginners only and even then Unity Learn has extensive resources for beginners that are freely available and I did notice the lectures taking from these tutorials at times. Also the course based on the timetable doesn't feature any c# programming until just 4 sessions in week 7 of 12 but I feel most will be like myself where programming within Unity is one of the key things I was expecting to be taught, programming is also the first skill they list on their website for what you will learn.
The website also lists using Unreal however the boot camp only covers Unity, I expected this but I spoke to others who only discovered it after starting the course.
Beyond the level of teaching, I also felt the teaching methods were not up to standard.
Teams meetings were used to teach and there was a group of ~50 people, however any time someone in the group had a problem the instructor would stop to help the one person resulting in the 49 others having to sit and wait for sometimes very long amounts of time. I considered this a substantial waste of time and it was one of my biggest concerns with the boot camp. As the participants in the camp ranged from some experience to completely new these interruptions have been fairly constant over this first month. I'd suggest separate teaching and support sessions or breaking lectures into a first-half lesson and second-half support session would be a better solution for making good use of everyone's time.
The job listing portal they give access to is bare-bones. The number of relevant IT jobs is small and there were as of the last time I checked 0 games-related jobs. There was also no way to filter out apprenticeship-level jobs so overall it was not better than any of the standard job search websites I had come across before.
I cannot say much on the industry project offered due to NDA however I will say I wasn't impressed by the brief and it only seemed tangentially related to the games industry which is not what I was hoping for as the boot camp describes it as "a working game" on their website and also elsewhere lists contacts within the games industry but as far as I can tell these were just guest speakers.
I'm giving 2 instead of 1 star as if you are a complete newbie to Unity I can see there being some benefits to the course and some of the skills/careers talks were useful for things like CV, teamwork etc. However, I'd suggest if you have any experience it's probably not for you.

Not as advertised.
Unfortunately, the company forces us into signing NDA's so I cannot physically express my opinion in it's entire truth or detail on this platform, and there's a lot of constructive criticism I have passed on directly in private with the company.
What I can say, is I have taken the choice to leave the Bootcamp as the promises on their webpage were far different than what was actually received and feels incredibly dishonest.
This is a shame as this could genuinely be something incredible for people, instead it turned out to be completely the opposite.
Good luck to those who do want to still go through with this, but if I'm being genuinely honest, I cannot reccommend it and 12 weeks of your life will be better used elsewhere.

I had a really good experince with the BootCamp. really good intructors, explained in detail and giving extras for further developing skills. Good schedules, although for some subjects could be given more attention. Would definetly recommend.

Cloud Security Bootcamp
For those of us with minimal tech knowledge, the bootcamp proved VERY useful. You have to be ready to put in the work over the 14 weeks, as its a lot of information to take. Tutor was also GREAT.
Overall.... satisfied and glad i did it.

Data Analytics boot camp, and things to consider
The boot camp was great, mostly. A lot of things happened over the really short period of time, and I learned so much that I can't even get all it together in a list shorter than 10 rows.
With such little time to learn we still managed to cover most of the material, and submitted a few high quality projects that can be then used in a portfolio after the course is over.
I also learned programming, data visualisation, improved my skills in Excel, learned basics of PowerBI, cloud data management platform and ML models.
What I didn't like about this course is the way the research project is made, with a lot of randomness in team allocation and little help in sorting out the approach to the project tasks.

Poor Follow-up (Data Analytics Bootcamp)
I took part in the October 2023 cohort data analytics bootcamp and overall found the course interesting.
Unfortunately, I'm writing this review because I have yet to receive my Credly badge even though it has been nearly 6 months since completing the course. I have contacted their team every few weeks since January to see what's taking so long, only to get told that they're still "sorting them out". This isn't really acceptable.
Additionally, towards the end of the course the instructor suddenly disappeared and was replaced by someone else which I think threw a lot of us as the teaching style suddenly changed which wasn't very conducive to our learning. While I don't believe this is a common occurrence, it did show a lack of monitoring on the companies behalf.

Great Transition Course
It was very well thought out.
Now lets bear in mind the course is full time so it is easier to do when you are fresh out of school or between jobs. I however, did not have this luxury as i am a full time working father with 2 kids and a partner all of who need attention.
I was determined and i sailed through.
Its an awesome gateway course if you are new to IT as a whole and it can help structure your knowledge if you are already working in the IT space.
I don't regret the experience. Marco is one of the best tech teachers I've ever had and i also enjoyed sessions with Alice Beveridge.
The only down side for me was it was a full time course.
I also took the professional exam and passed.
I had tried on my own before and failed by a smidge so they must have done something right.😂

Skills City BootCamp - AVOID!!!!!!!!!!
This course was a terrible experience, lack of direction, structure, interest or ability to actual actually teach. I, correction, scratch that, ALL! were so disappointed in this course. They are more interested in hitting the bare minimum for getting more funding, ie telling you to keep your camera on, meet quota for jobs applied for. oh and not forgetting the point group project, that takes up huge amounts of time of the course hours, that could be better spent on actually teaching. I can positively say all the student on my cohort felt this way. Rubbish, positives: The tutor we had is a nice person, thats it.

THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE IS VERY GOOD BUT ONE CAN BE COMPLETELY LOST FROM THE BEGINING TO THE END FOR LACK OF A LEVEL OF THE SUBJECT BEFORE STARTING AND CAN MEAN COMPLETE WASTE OF EFFORT IN ATTENDING. iT IS GOOD TO ADVERTISE THIS COURSE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SOME LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE

It's acc sick
I was onboarded 4 days into the course (yes, I did have tins of catching up) but I think my instructor, Jennifer is great and she is very good at explaining things and giving us plenty of time to solve problems. I thought they would be super formal, but the sessions are relaxed and I like the vibe of the sessions and the other people. Never thought I'd be excited to learn to code! Recommend to anyone who wants a career change

Relevant, interesting and enjoyable school trip
An excellent educational trip to IN4.0 at HOST in Salford Quays for a CyberFirst day with Year 9 students. This day educates students about careers in Cyber Security and has lots of hands-on activities and challenges for the students to enjoy related to digital issues including Artificial Intelligence. Relevant and interesting for Computing, IT, digital media and technology.

Superb Cyber First Day
I attended a Cyber First day accompanying 30 Year 8 students. From start to finish the day was a success, the activities were well chosen and paced and included enough content to spark all imaginations. Delivered superbly by a great instructor. I really think some pupils who were not previously considering a career in cyber/computing will be giving it some consideration now. Looking forward to more opportunities. Thank you once again!
